I figure it's about time I review this place. I'm a week past my LASIK, and really couldn't be much happier with the results.
I
went in for my consultation on a Tuesday. After doing my due diligence,
I decided to do the LASIK here. They scheduled me for the following
Tuesday. (Note: Surgery days are on Tuesdays, plus one Friday per
month.) I was excited.
My appointment was for 1pm. I was out by 2:30, and most of that was prep time and figuring out payment (they'll
finance it interest free for up to 12 months). They took a bunch of
measurements, gave me some drops, gave me a valium, and prepped the
machine. Prepping the machine took longer than the actual surgery, and
the surgery took about 3-4 minutes all total.
I won't lie - the
immediate aftereffects of the surgery are awful. It's like the worst
onion you've ever cut, but constant and inescapable. Plan ahead and do
everything you can to sleep through that part.
The next day, my
vision was 20/25 in each eye and 20/20 overall. A week later, I was
20/20 in each eye. There's still a little variability in my vision, but
that's expected. And I couldn't be happier. I can walk in the rain and
retain the ability to see, since my glasses aren't glossed over. I can
wake up in the morning and see the clock. I have peripheral vision
again. Awesome.

Lasik actually made my vision worse than before I had surgery. I had the surgery on 5/18/12, 3 months ago.
I went in today for my follow-ups, Dr Dornic said it's very unusual that
my vision gets worse each time I come to the follow-ups. He said I am a
20/100 this time, when I was there 2 weeks ago, I was 20/80. He told me
it could be due to some neurological disorder in my brain that is
causing my poor vision now. He has to get a detail record from my
regular eye doctor to see the real cause of my issue.
I cannot believe this is happening to me. I cannot believe he didnt tell me about
neurological problem when I did my consultant with him the first time,
he never found out, and now he is saying it is probably a neurological
problem. So basically I spent $2500 for Lasik to make my eyes
worse. I not only cannot read up-close (nutrition facts label,
ingredient list on food, direction on medicines-I have to wear my +1
reading glasses to be able to see), I also cannot read from a distance
(the menu on the wall at McDonald, etc). Right now, I can only read the
street sign when driving on the street and gas prices at gas station,
other than that, there is nothing I can do to make my vision better. He
said there's no glasses I could wear to help me see, except my +1
reading glass when reading up-close. I was a -2.95 for near-sighted
before, but now after Lasik. Now I am both far-sighted and near
sighted. Oh my god. I am extremely upset. I just need to do
another follow up with him in 2 weeks.

I erroneously posted negative comments about Dr. Dornic previously based on some false assumptions I had made. Dr. Dornic actually went above his obligation to me. He provided services to me without charge and got me the medical treatment I needed. Please contact me dikawai@mail.com if you have any questions.

Although my vision isn't quite stabilized yet, it will eventually become
better. In my case, my eyes take longer than others to heal because of a
hidden neurological problem of myself. This has nothing to do with my
LASIK surgery with Dr Dornic. Dr Dornic is definitely doing his very
best to take care of this and to correct my vision :)
I know I shouldn't have said anything bad about Dr Dornic, Because I
understand all the risks from the beginning, and I know he is definitely
going beyond and doing his best to help me. I was just extremely upset
after my last follow-up with him that day 8/21/2012. So nevertheless, the matter has been resolved, that I made a mistake when writing the original report. I would definitely recommend Dr Dornic to anyone who is considering having Lasik surgery done. Please sit down and consult with him, he will
definitely talk with you and look at you thoroughly, and tell you whether or not you would be a right candidate :)
Please email me if you have any questions or concerns. I would be happy be answer. dikawai@mail.com
