Dun & Bradstreet Credibility Corp. DnB Not the helpful company they try and sell you on Short Hills, New Jersey

I have had problems with DnB since 7 or 8 years ago when I started my business.  I have never been a customer (was at a previous company) but want to give my 2 cents on them. 

I see DnB as basically a telemarketer.  They say they are providing financial information, but it appears to me they basically are in sales, and any information they provide is secondary to selling.  I have experineced the same deceptive tactics others list here about bad reports on my credit report, etc., but since I have never had a problem getting credit I refused to pay and play.  My problem first started when they would not even give my company a DnB number without me paying them.  I finally got one only after a government agency I was trying to do business with refereed me to someone at DnB telling them they need to give me a number. 

The latest problem I had was when I called and ask if it was possible for me to report a company that was overdue on payment to me by 154 days.  This is the type of information they are trying to sell me, yet they had no interested in my reporting a company to them for free.  I did not want others to end up in the same boat as me so I wanted to help and report the company.  DnB had no interest in this information unless I could report on 100 or more companies. 

The nice person I spoke with in the Philippines apologized (they have no US customer service that I could find, only sales).  I said why are you apologizing.  This is your policy, if DnB was sorry they would can the policy so obviusly they are not sorry, they just want my money.  I told by a sales man, if I paid for DnB's service I could report on companies (the customer service person told me that is incorrect, I do not have to pay, but I do have to have over 100 current customers to report on). 

I am a small business.  I don't have over 100 current customers.  It is important to me to know how other small businesses like me are being paid.  If DnB is not interested in small businesses like me reporting on their experience why would I want to buy their service?  I recommend not doing ANY business with them.  If you do, just buy the reports individually as needed.
