my report involves ed ayala who goes by islander_39 on ebay.  ed had a chicago bears helmet that he listed.  here is the title of the listing.  "chicago bears auth riddell football helmet."  the helmet was supposed to be a throwback helmet like the bears used from 1962-73.  well, it looked good, so i made an offer on it.  ed declined my offer, but he agreed on a close price if i would buy it off ebay.  i thought this was fair, so i sent ed the money--$100, for the thing.  well, the helmet shows up, and it is complete garbage.  the helmet is spray painted black, and not done very well as there are places the spray was not applied properly by the ear holes.  the helmet should be navy blue, a very dark blue, but not black!  the only thing authentic on the thing are the correct "C" logos of the bears.  i emailed ed and asked him if he painted the thing because there is no way riddell made this helmet with this paint job.  i got no reply, so i made a complaint to paypal.  well all paypal cared about was that ed sent the helmet, so i lost the complaint.  i have shown ed pictures of what the helmet should look like, navy ble, pointed out other info and i eb=ven contacted the bears.  theynever had a black helmet with a white "C" on it!!  ed sold me a completly counterfit helmet that he himself probably made!  he will not take it back and has not contacted me after i have sent several emails showin that the helmet is not authentic at all!  ed sells a lot on ebay as islander_39, so you may want to be careful of ed as his merchandise may be bogus!  i got screwed out of $100 by good old ed!
