Ticketmaster.com signs you up for "Entertainment Rewards" and bills your credit card $7 a month without your knowledge.

Here's the info:
I noticed a $7 monthly charge on my credit card titled "Entertainment Rewards." It was labeled as an internet magazine and that's all the information my credit card company could give me when I called them to dispute the charges.

I googled "entertainment rewards" and a lot of web sites showed up linking this scam with Ticketmaster. I called Ticketmaster customer service.
Here is the web site where you can get their phone number depending on what state you're calling from: http://www.ticketmaster.com/h/customer_serve.html
The person I spoke with said she has no idea what company this is and that Ticketmaster is not affiliated with this company and has no contact information for them. She also looked up my account and said that I am not signed up for any kind of monthly service and that Ticketmaster never gives out credit card information to anyone else.

Since I was unable to find the web site of this Entertainment Rewards company by googling it, I next tried to find them through the address they have listed on my credit card statement:
Entertainment Publictn Inc
1414 E. Maple Rd
Troy, MI 48083-4019

I found this web site:
http://www.entertainment.com/save/aboutus/contact
I called the number on the web site (888)231-SAVE
The person I spoke to looked me up using my last name and zip code (Note: If you moved since these charges began appearing on your statement, they may have your old zip code).

When I asked how this company got ahold of my credit card information he explained that Ticketmaster offers a $25 rebate and if you accept this rebate it states in the Terms & Conditions that you will be enrolled in the Entertainment Rewards program and your credit card information will be given to that company and you will be charged a monthly fee.

I never even received such a rebate offer. I asked that the membership be cancelled and I asked for a refund. The person gave me a cancellation number and told me that a refund will be issued back to my credit card. I don't know yet if that will happen but either way, I have filed a dispute with my credit card company for the charges.

By the way, on the bottom of the ticketmaster.com it lists partner sites including entertainment.com (the web site with the scam) so ticketmaster lied when they said they weren't affiliated with the entertainment rewards program.

I have used Entertainment and Ticketmaster plenty of time, both are excellent services. As far as the "RIPOFF" it says in about 5 different spots that you will be signed up for a 30day free trial and you will be charged after that. People are complaining when this can work in your advantage. You can still get your $25 rebate even if you cancel the program. I have used this and I have received a check from them before.

In other words, let it sign you up. Then turn around and waste 5 minutes to call them and cancel then login and receive you $25 rebate on the next tickets you buy.
