I was a sales asistant for Simplicity Gourmet/ Simplicity Brides/ Pink Apron Preview.  The company had only one name when I was there, but I do understand why they need many different names now so that they can try to hide who they really are from people they are about to rip off.
The owners of Simplicity are also the owners of the New Era Cookware factory in Clarksville, Tn. and Equitable Acceptance Corp in Golden Valley, Mn.
They make their livings by selling overpriced and crappy cookware.  They try to get young brides to finance large amounts of money at Equitable Acceptance and charge them a crazy APR of 24%-30%. They also tell these poor brides that they can make half payments on their finance accounts for the first year to make things easier for them, what they don't tell the brides is that the half payment is all interest and that after the first year their account balance will be the same as it was when they started, thus tricking the bride into thinking she is getting a good deal from people who care about her future when in fact she is being lied to and screwed out of here hard earned money at a time in life when she needs to save every penny for her wedding  and all the things in life that came right after the wedding.
They also lure these poor brides into their so called Pink Apron Previews by promising them a free honeymoon and other gifts that are a total scam.  The vacations are nothing that they are promising.  Cheep hotels, many blackout dates, hidden fees,(Simplicity pays about $2 per vacation that they give away, how real can they be if they only pay $2 per vacation) but by the time the bride finds all of this out she has already purchased the crappy cookware, paid all kinds of finance charges and not given any kind of refund or option to cancel the contract she now has with the finance company.
They teach their so called Chefs (I call them HIGH PRESSURE SALES DOUCHBAGS) to do things (tricks) with the products when they demonstrate them to these poor brides that the bride will never be able to do without months of training.  The product is ok but not what they make it out to be.  They give false promises of cooking meals in half the time that store bought cookware will cook in.  Promises of saving money on replacements because they have a lifetime warrantee (which they DO NOT honor).
Promises of food not sticking to the pans when in fact EVERYTHING sticks and burns in these pans.
They calim to have a top notch customer service department (it's one woman that is never there to answer the phone when a customer calls and dosent return a phone call until a customer calls at least 4 or 5 times.)
On top of screwing their customers, they also screw their sales people and factory distributors out of pay and make false promises to pad their own pockets.
The president is like some kind of cult leader that their stupid salespeople follow until they can't pay their rent, car payments and are flat broke before they realize what is really going on.
Their so called leaders are a bunch of cast offs from other sales companies that no longer wanted them.
I caution anyone that gets a phone call form them (they will call and tell you that you WON all of their crappy bogus gifts in exchange for a few minutes of your time to preview their products) DON'T BE FOOLED!!!!  YOU DID NOT WIN ANYTHING!!!! THEY CALL EVERYONE WITH THE SAME LINE
I also caution anyone that is thinking of taking a job with them or doing any kind of business with them.  YOU WILL BE SCREWED TOO!

This guy was obviously fired

AUTHOR: ron geyer - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, May 29, 2013

I was surprised to read this. He was obviously fired or he is a competitor. (or just an idiot)

I am very familiar with this product and factory. I bought their set 38 years ago. They have produced many millions of sets and it is by far the highest quality American made cookware world wide. How do I know? I checked. Except for this disgruntled moron there are no complaints anywhere on the internet complaining about the quality of this cookware. And that’s out of over 10 million clients. He calls it crappy cookware. Is that why a factory that’s been around since 1865 can put a full 50 year warranty on it?

I have to agree with him that the interest is high. I hate paying 24% interest and try my best to avoid that.

If someone can’t pay cash then it's their choice to go on a payment plan and pay the high interest.

If their credit wasn’t crap they wouldn’t have to. They would simply use their line of credit with their bank.

If they don’t have this then they should be grateful the company took a chance lending them the money for it and helping them reestablish credit.

As far as the price goes, it is half the price of Salad Master and superior in quality.

He claims that everything sticks and burns in these pans. He should learn how to cook. You can burn anything in any pan if you use high heat.

He is correct about the gift to make the appointment. They will offer it to anyone to get the appointment. That is not uncommon. And yes, the travel company will have weeks available only on the ones that are not booked.

If they had more people in their customer service department then guess who pays for that? The consumer does with higher prices and American made products are expensive enough. Why? Because their overpaid.

If you want cheap cookware go to Walmart and buy the Chinese made crap. See if Walmart will repare a pan for free 38 years later. This factory will.

I own the Cookware

AUTHOR: rtalb - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, January 20, 2012

My husband and I bought a set of the Simplicity Gourmet cookware about a year ago, and I have to say I was very disappointed.
My sales rep has been difficult to get a hold of for questions, and when I was upset that the cookware wasn't working as it was said to the sales rep came to our house, cooked a meal, cleaned them and left me still feeling upset.
The oil-less electric skillet which food is not supposed to stick to, well food does stick and I follow the book with all the directions for different settings. If I set it any higher than 200 degrees everything burns on to it. I had to get a special cleaner to remove the discoloration. It also scratches very easily and the scratches are difficult to remove, I spend 30 mins just cleaning the skillet alone.
The other pans I have, I have to add quite a bit of water or vegetables burn to the bottom and I always set the temp about 3 on my stove which is what the rep told me to do. Never once have I had a meal come out like the rep showed me, twice.
Also I too noticed that even with the payments I have made over the past year, the amount I owe has barely moved, and the finance charges are rediculous.
I asked my sales rep if I could return them and get my money back shortly after purchasing them, he said no because it had already been 30 days from the date ordered, which is also rediculous because it took 10 days to receive them.
I can assure you I would never buy another pan or any other piece of cookware from this company.

Just the Facts...

AUTHOR: Jay Johnson - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, October 28, 2010

I am a business partner and independant distributor of Simplicity Gourmet International and New Era Inc, and a business partner of Equitable Acceptance Corporation. This post actually made me laugh, I found it quite humorous. This is not written by a former sales assistant, this was written by someone obviously who has a information that they falsely portray in this report, which means it is someone who was once in some sort of administration with this company, or a competitive company in this industry with a fair deal of knowledge of how certain things work.

I'm not going to take the time to break the post apart and dispute every fact, because I learned log ago to not argue with fools. I was entertained though, by the authors poor grammar and horrendous spelling throughout the article. If he/she is no longer employed by the company, maybe some work on their professionalism and writing skills would have helped them keep their job?

What I will say is that this article is absolute nonsense and 100% untrue. It's quite easy for people to hide behind the mask of the Internet and post terrible things about people and companies that they have been shunned from. I'm sure everyone has seen situations like this in the past. Just last week I saw quite a few friends on my Facebook page talking about much they hated their significant others and they were breaking up because the person was terrible, blah blah blah. Well guess what, they're all back together again. And I'm quite sure if this person was given the opportunity that I currently have and offer to others, they would jump at it and rescind their testimonial as well. Don't believe everything that you read, especially from websites and blogs that you have never heard of. What's the best way to not only check out a business or organization, but also to file a legit complaint if you have one? The Better Business Bureau.

So go check out Simplicity Gourmet on the Better Business Bureau. We have an A+ rating. See how many other business's have that class of rating. This person also could have a report or complaint there, if it was really legit, but the problem with doing so is that you can't just post anonymous undocumented nonsense on the BBB site. You need documentation, and you need to put your name and contact information to give the company a chance to respond to you. This person obviously did not leave any name or contact information.

Well I don't hide behind anonymity. My name is Jay Johnson, and I'm a business partner and distributor of Simplicity Gourmet. I've been with this company for close to five years now, and I love every second of it. I have THOUSANDS of thrilled customers all across the United States. And I have many happy consultants and employees as well. This Rip-off Report website instructed me that I cannot leave an email address for people to contact me at in my post. That's kind of strange. But I'll do so anyways. You can reach me at the first letter of my first name, then my full last name at SimplicityGourmet and then of course, the .com. So whoever wrote this report, there's no need to hide. Please contact me asap, I'd love to discuss your concerns with you. If there is no response from you with contact information, and/or if I don't hear from you, I guess we'll just assume that what I said is true, and that you are just a "scorned" ex-employee being spiteful because your career didn't turn out the way you wanted. Please try to use some better spelling and more proper grammar when you post again, that would probably give you a slight bit of actual professionalism.

Thanks for reading guys. Simplicity Gourmet is an awesome company. Check them out for yourselves, not by reading random posts from anonymous strangers on sites that you never even heard of. Have a great day!

Positive Attitude -- Setting the Record Straight

AUTHOR: Positive Attitude - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 13, 2010

I have never responded to these types of things before but I felt that I must do my best to help this young person understand some things that I believe they probably were not aware of with Simplicity Gourmet and their cookware.

I do not fault this person for their views, because we live in America where we have the right to voice them, and for that I am grateful.  I do however, regret that they did not sign their name and put their phone number on the bottom of their opinion so they could be contacted to help them understand how wrong they really are about 98% of everything they said, but, hey, that is their right also.

I personally, along with hundreds of others, have had the privilege and honor of working with a very good company where the products are, if not the very best, at least among the very best products on the market today.  I wish they would have either called the company or even better yet, gone to the office and sat down with the owners and discussed their concerns and misunderstandings with them.  The owners of Simplicity and New Era are very good, honest people, who would have listened to anything this person would have said.

It does not help anyone to belittle anyone else, and I am not doing that to this young person, I keep saying "young person" because I am only assuming that they are probably young.  If they are not young, then I hope they take that as a compliment.

They sound a little angry and I assume it was because someone explained something wrong to them or maybe they could not fully understand how the system really DOES benefit the health of anyone who owns one of the cookware sets.   My wife and I absolutely LOVE what we have and would not even consider selling them back to the company for double the money, unless the company would then allow us to purchase two more sets so we could give a set to our son and daughter-in-law, that is.

I can only assume that they are a good person who has hard feelings because they felt selling the cookware was harder than they had hoped it would be.  I will say that I have sold windows, owned a machine shop and sold for the work in that shop, worked and sold a few other things and when I represent this product, I can do it with real American pride because this quality cookware is made in the good ole USA, and I am proud of that!!!   I realize you can purchase much less quality products made from overseas, but I choose not to do that.  Thank you Simplicity for being head and shoulders above the rest!!!

Take it with a grain of salt whenever anyone puts their feelings on paper, or in this case, the internet without giving their name or calling the president of the company.   I wish them and everyone who reads this the very best.  Take care.  Jay, a proud owner and sales representative of the best cookware available.
