From the outside Greenwood Village looks like a pleasant, homey "Active Adult Community" with brand new landscaping at the gate and stone pillars holding the new black and gilt signs.  Then you enter into the gates (if they are working on that particular day or possibly they are wide open beckoning entry to anyone)!

Drive down the boulevard and take note of the overgrown shrubbery on the median, dotted with litter.  Perhaps the dried brown straw that passes for grass on the front lawn of the clubhouse is more appealing.  Stroll down the lane to the pool with the adjacent, peeling decaying shuffleboard court, overgrown with weeds and the wooden posts of the unfinished bocci court shelters.  Notice the brittle, brown excuse for grass which never receives water other than on rainy days and the myriads of ant hills dotting the arid landscape surrounding the pond.  The tennis courts aren't too bad if you ignore the fence pulling away from the posts which could be remedied by several dollars worth of brackets and a come-along.  Ignore the tree stumps from the trees which were downed by Hurrican Sandy.  Tree removal doesn't include stump grinding here in Greenwood Village.

Residents are admonished to keep their lawns green and their homes power washed and in good repair so that they are presentable.  Ignore the fact that the landscapers are incapable of cutting the grass below six inches high and never edge.  So what if the roads are crisscrossed by cracks and potholes, curbs are decaying and the driveways are only repaired by the community if they collapse into the ground!

If you venture into the Clubhouse try to ignore the 1980's kitchen with the warped counter top and the decrepit cabinets.  The ladies room in the basement, with the mold, that they've been promising to repair for the past three years isn't much better.

Just think for the exorbitant sum of $1,000 per month rental of your lot you two can live in this charming community.  The question is what happens to the $2.4million dollars/year that they collect in rental fees?  It certainly isn' being put back into refurbishing the community which seems to be the modus operandi of ELS.

Sound familiar - just look into any of the other communities that they own across the United States.  This is legalized robbery victimizing people who have worked hard their whole lives to enjoy their "golden years" in comfort.  Their slipshod business practices and total disregard for anything other than their profits is shamelessly victimizing the residents of this community.
