I've been scammed, conned, manipulated, intimidated, blackmailed, taken advantage and in some way discriminated (happens to be I do have a disability that affects my judgment for everyday life situations) but in this case, let's just get down to the nitty gritty of this problem that hundreds if not millions of Americans are falling victim to: FREE CREDIT REPORT 7 DAY TRIAL' scam, does this ring a bell, can anyone relate?

I cannot imagine how company's like free credit report.com' or mini credit' just to name a few, are willing to help or so they say when they are just doing far worse by contradicting what they represent. They display there blinking flashing lights online to catch people's attention and lure them into their web of schemes and manipulation by advertising a 7 day FREE trial.

Unfortunately, my situation falls in the 'Paid Survey' category. I filled out a generous amount of online registration forms, I did read the terms and conditions. Within 3 days I cancled, I was not even interested in finding out my credit score in the first place.

I did not recieve a confirmation # about the FREE 7 day trial just a e-mail stating a thank you for registering. I did cancel, did not get a confirmation code or # I also unsubscribed. I did not get not a single response back confirming my cancellation.

I did not waste time went to the bank, put a hold on my account, canceled all other accounts. My bank gave me a fraud dispute phone #, I called explained what happened.

Followed the steps the bank Rep. told me to do I called, disputed and did not get nothing resolved, no refund they even try to compensate for the error for a free months service and on top of that tried to sell me more services. They went over and over telling me I would need to provide some type of proof that you did cancel. I called back to the fraud department, was asked a series of questions and all I got from my bank was this response; 'I'm just giving you a heads up on what to expect, we will process a dispute file, but chances are you won't get your refund back because the company is going to ask for some kind of proof'!

I am now paying for it big time with overdraft fees and it's up in the hundreds now, because not only did they charge me once but charged me for next months service and the overdraft charges continue to accumilate. I NEED HELP!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?

Alex

Experian Credit Info., CIC Triple Adcantage & Mini Credit Report MNTR SVC

AUTHOR: Alex - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, January 12, 2009

Just an update,.......

I got my Account Transaction history from Wamu,so here are the charges, as you can see I was charged 4x's by the same company!

12/30/2008 $19.95 Experian Credit Info (866)506-7894 CA
12/30/2008 $14.95 CIC*Triple Advantage (877)481-6825 CA
12/22/2008 $12.95 Mini*CreditRPT SVC (866)365-8654 CA
12/01/2008 $14.95 CIC Triple Advantage (877)481-6825 CA
12/01/2008 $19.95 Experian Credit Info (866)506-7894 CA

I did cancel everything that I subscibed to 3 days later from the start of my free membership which was on 11/24/2008. The date of my cancelation was on 11/27/2008. And don't forget I now have overdraft charges for each one, overdraft charge for WAMU is: $33.00
If anyone has WAMU as their bank here's the New Debit Disputes # they gave me: 1-800-933-7221
Make sure you get the name of the person that will be representing your Dispute Case.

The last thing I need to know if anyone has advice/answer I would greately appreciate it if you can. I went back, (tenchincally the second) time I read their Terms and Conditions only for Free Credit Report. Let me get this straight is Experian and CIC Triple advantage 'Free Credit Report' or are they all three different Co. I do know from my understanding that Experian and CIC are the same company. I was told this when I called and disputed with them. Also reading a couple of your cases on Ripoff.
And I take it that Mini Credit RPT is a seperate Co.?
So about the terms in conditions I highlighted some things that caught my attention, which I need to know if they actually went against their TERMS AND REGULATIONS and may also be of interest for some of you.
Note: Keep this in mind when I registered for the free trial I filled out an app. for the Discover card (1st app. I've ever applied for) and within 2 weeks after applying I was sent a notice that they denied my app. for no credit history or poor credit history I should say. And around the same week I went to WAMU requesting a new Debit card and never recieved it. So I am not sure if somelse has it or not and may use it for fraudulent purposes. And last but not least I enrolled in all of these Credit report Co. it's states from my understanding you cannot be enrolled all at the same time. And they actually give you 9 days to cancel because it takes around 48 hours to activate.

Thanks! Alex

Please note, there are different processing times across the credit reporting companies, therefore you may not be enrolled in all of them at the same time. Monitoring with Experian begins within 48 hours of enrollment in your free trial. Monitoring with Equifax and TransUnion takes approximately 4 days to begin, though in some cases cannot be initiated during the trial period (if a trial period applies). CIC does not control and is not responsible for the enrollment process.
FCRA DISCLOSURES
The FCRA allows you to obtain a copy of all of the information in your consumer credit file disclosure from any consumer credit reporting company for a reasonable charge. The FCRA also states that individuals are entitled to receive a disclosure directly from the consumer credit reporting company free of charge under the following circumstances:
You have been denied credit, insurance or employment in the past 60 days as a result of your report
You certify in writing that you are unemployed and intend to apply for employment in the 60-day period beginning on the day you make the certification
You are a recipient of public welfare assistance
You have reason to believe that your file at the agency contains inaccurate information due to fraud
The FCRA also permits consumers to dispute inaccurate information in their credit report without charge. Accurate information cannot be changed. You do not have to purchase your credit report or other information from CIC to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information in your Experian file or to receive a copy of your Experian consumer disclosure.
Credit Monitoring Membership With Free Trial: You will be asked for valid credit card information when you sign up for the free credit monitoring trial. CIC will verify your credit card information before processing your order. An authorization in the amount of one dollar will be performed on your credit card, to make sure it is valid and in good standing, but CIC will not actually bill your card until the free trial period has passed. However, the one dollar authorization may count against your credit or debit limit. Because monitoring with Experian may take 48 hours to begin, we will start your 7-day free trial 48 hours after you enroll. Therefore, you may cancel your trial membership without charge at any time within 9 days of placing your order. If you do not cancel your free trial membership within 9 days of the date you placed your order, your membership will continue automatically and the monthly/annual fee will be billed to the credit card or other billing source provided by you when you enrolled in credit monitoring, on the first day of each successive membership term. If you purchase additional credit reports and/or scores during your trial period, they will be billed to the credit or debit card provided to us during enrollment. In the event that you purchase additional products from CIC using a different credit or debit card, or if update your payment information with CIC, CIC will charge the latest card provided by you. Please note, if you have ever been a member and received a free trial, CIC may refuse to give you another free trial offer. Returning members will be billed the membership fee immediately upon renewal. During your trial period, you are eligible for one free report and/or score as dictated by your specific membership terms.
Refunds will not be issued once we have successfully located and delivered the Product(s) to you.

Look, I appreciate your honesty about the disability part, but as you can see I did updated my story and may have come across and a tid bit ridiculous and just a bit overexagerated, I stated pretty clear that I'm not using my disability as an excuse. Maybe you should try doing a little research about the DISABILITY (ADHD) before you step on the wrong shoes. And how do you know if I did not type this all by myself? Or maybe I used wordprocessing to correct my words so that I don't spell them wrong and using a dictionary on the side. So there is alot that you don't know, maybe it's better to meditate and think before saying something that you may just regret later on.

Oh, and by the way I did write, I think in the 3rd or 4th paragraph that I DID CANCEL that's if you can read. I also stated that in my revised story toward the end, that's 1+1=2, that's twice. Maybe you should just reread or profread it doesn't hurt. And about my blackmail, and manipulation, and discrimination. First of all I have not shared how my phone conversation went in full detail with Credit Report Reps. and the bank. So how do you know if any of these things really did happen to me,this is my first time ever doing this so, ya I am going to be very picky on exactly what I want to write and what I don't want to right? I just shared the surface of the matter of what happened. And last but not least, it's not right to make comments like ummmm well let's see here you wrote 'disabled that's no excuse!' hate to say it like this I know it's sounds a bit rough but 'Ya, there is an excuse for people who have disabilities, every individual those with disabilities, right? fall into different category's example: child, adult, and elderly. Some do things somewhat normal, but just may be medicated, others do have advisors, guidence counselors, therapists, Dr.'s um should I go on? I'm sorry was that to rough? But thanks for the input, maybe I will take it into consideration maybe not.

Experian Credit Info., CIC Triple Adcantage & Mini Credit Report MNTR SVC SCAM DON'T BECOME A VICTIM!!! Justice especially for the DISABLED!!!!

AUTHOR: Alex - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 09, 2009

I've been scammed, conned, manipulated, intimidated, blackmailed, taken advantage and in some way discriminated (happens to be that I have ADHD which does affect my better judgment on everday life situations).

When I get myself stuck in situations like these they seem to be never ending, no solution, no way out, failed, taken advantage, easily manipulated, don't know how to solve problems depending on the situation, and last but not least you feel DUMB!!! This may be funny to some, but in matters like these this is no laughing matter (I speak up and fight for those who have disabilities and the elderly, there's justice and we shall have it!) it can become a very delicate and complicated problem for those who suffer from ADHD, (If you don't agree with my story or disability then that's your choice and opinion, but I am not using my disability problem to hypen up my story, IT'S THE TRUTH!). You don't know how to verbally communicate or in this case use the right terminology, how to explain things, in the end you have anxiety and hoplessness because THEY make you feel dumb and stupid and you only end up with a loaded cart, full of chaotic problems. Weather it be personal, financial, social, etc...If you can releate you know what I am talking about. Basicallly, you have to have someone with you at all times to make things right! And if you don't you tend to get yourself in all kinds of trouble you did not want in the first place.

So, getting down to business, or in this case let's get down to the Nitty Gritty. About a month ago, happens to be my husband works for Boeing, and as many of you know or if you do keep up with news, we just went through a 54 day strike that ended in Nov. I don't have to explain our financial situation, I'm sure you can get the picture. And of course you become desperate for money, your behind in your bills, economic times are tought, etc... So, I get on the web to find out a way to help my husband make money and fast. I looked up those paid survey's (I guess I fall in the paid survey scam catagory too!) I began filling out regestrations left and right, hoping that you will get that $1000.00 Wal-mart or Target gift card, or the Nintendo WII.

'But first you have to fill out the Silver, Gold, and Platinum package' does this ring a bell to anyone? You then end up registering to a imanagable amount of who knows what, at this point you are able to fill things out with just your e-mail address, then they start asking you for the CARD!!!

You end up going on these FREE CREDIT REPORT DOT COM, ooooh ahhhh only 7 days for a FRREEE trial! WOW! then you think okay, it's not that bad. When you get on there page they do ask you for your SS# and credit card, I do remember it did say 'we just need a credit card for verification registration purposes only. I was a bit hesitant, but once again, with the lack of better judgment, I fell right into their trap! I ended up giving my info. And the rest is history. The Paid Survey's get what they want, the Credit Report get what they want, and in one way or another the Bank got what they want for the overdraft charges and so forth. Now I have overdraft charges in the hundreds and accumilating. I did already some of the steps you posted here before I even found out about this web page, so yes, I did go to the bank closed everything out, the bank rep gave me a # to the dispute department. I called, I was assigned to someone who set up my dispute case/report whatever you call it, followed the steps they asked me to do. I called the businesses, I disputed with them, nothing worked, no refund. Called the bank back and they ended up telling the same thing. "I'm sorry mam' but we need proof that you did cancel if not, I'm just giving you the heads up, you will most likely get no refund back, but I will go ahead and set up your case." Within the 7 days, I DID CANCEL, only thing I got e-mailed back was a 'your cancelation is confirmed' that's it. I did not get a ref. # or something, I also made sure that I did unsubscribed. I was not really interested in my credit score to begin with, I just wanted to get paid from the survey's that I participated in that's it.

And just for the record I already know what my credit history is like, I don't have a credit card and never had a credit card my whole life and never will. The Credit Report company even tried to (in someway I believe it's like brainwashing/manipulating) compensate me for the error by giving me a 1 month free of service I could not believe it. This goes for the emusic.com company I also unfortunately enrolled myself in. So I stated my dispute with the bank and basically nothing seems to work. I NEED YOUR HELP WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?

A VICIM IN DESPERATION,
Alex

Okay so you've been...

scammed and conned - How could you be scammed or conned. When you sign up for the service it is right on the first page that says you have 7 days to cancel. If you don't cancel they will charge you. If you do stay they do provide the service that they state.

manipulated - Exactly HOW did they manipulate you?

intimidated - Exactly HOW were you intimidated?

blackmailed - Exactly HOW were you blackmailed?

discriminated (happens to be I do have a disability that affects my judgment for everyday life situations) - Okay a disability is not an excuse. You appear to be able to read, write and comprehend things. If your disability is bad enough to effect your judgment you need to have yourself declared mentally incompetent and have a trustee appointed to take care of your affairs. This may sound rough, but you can't have it both ways. Where in one way you make your own decisions, but when you make a mistake to claim that you are disabled and expect that that is enough to have the mistake erased.

Now, as to what to do you must call them to cancel. It sounds like you did it through e-mail which won't work. You can't cancel through e-mail or postal mail. The phone number is (877) 481-6826. I will tell you that they will try and get you to stay, but if you just keep saying "No, I want to cancel" they will cancel your membership.
