Social media websites should be a place where everyone can enjoy themselves in a safe environment. Sadly, this isn't a reality on the popular social media website Facebook. Currently, they permit users to stalk and harass innocent victims through their site with libelous pages. When a victim reports the violation to Facebook, they simply look in the other direction and allow the abuse to continue. Case in point, my stalker named Dennis who is currently using Facebook to further damage my reputation. He's the individual I filed a previous report about. Facebook has a responsibility to protect their users who report abuse but instead, they do nothing but take sides with the perpetrators. So, this of course means that a predator can do whatever he/she wants because Facebook will just let it go on regardless of how the victims feel. It states in their "Community Standards" that harassment is supposedly not allowed but yet when someone files a legitimate complaint against someone committing the act, Facebook sends back a generic response claiming that the abuse doesn't violate their "Community Standards" which naturally leaves the victim out in the cold.

In addition, Facebook allows pages depicting horrible abuse against animals but takes the time to remove pages that speak out against this sort of thing. They ignore legitimate complaints of this nature too. This is totally unacceptable and I refuse to stand for it any longer! Facebook needs to change their policies or at least follow their own rules so that nobody will have to worry about being abused on their website any longer! Furthermore, they need to stop favoring selected individuals and do the right thing for once! Obviously, unless it's happening to THEM, it doesn't matter if someone else is getting abused. This MUST change NOW!

General Rebuttal Message For All.

AUTHOR: Noel - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 04, 2014

Obviously, I'm going to have to leave a general rebuttal message for everyone who reads my report. It would be so easy to walk away from Facebook but that's not going to make the issue vanish. The abusive material I complained to them about is quite a bit more than just nasty words on a screen. This has to do with reputation damage being done to me. Of course unless this is happening to any of YOU, empathy isn't something you can afford to give to someone who has been a victim of abuse. It's really sad when some people figure that "walking away" is the answer to issues like this. What about all the teenagers who killed themselves because of cyber bullying on Facebook and other places like it? Would you tell their grieving parents that the kid should have just "walked away" from the abuse? Walking away isn't always the answer. Sometimes you have to stand up for your own rights and the rights of others. Remaining silent only gives the perpetrators more power. The people have a right to know what goes on at Facebook so perhaps they can avoid the same fate as myself and others have been forced to endure.

Facebook Abuse.

AUTHOR: Noel - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 04, 2014

Obviously Ken, you have never been abused before so I guess it makes sense for you to make such an uneducated remark. Unless you have been there, you can't empathize with those of us who have. The bottom line is, nobody and I mean NOBODY should be abused anywhere online! The point of this report is to increase the awareness of others so they know how harmful and potentially dangerous social media can be. Adults and teens alike have been subjected to abuse on Facebook. Would you tell your teenager to "give it another try once they attain adulthood" or would you do everything in your power to make certain nobody else goes through it? Would you take a different approach if it were happening to YOU? Think about it!

Did you ever consider just NOT useing FaceBook?? The world wont end if you do not hop online. Maybe this is a sign for you to step away from the internet for a bit. If youre getting THIS worked up over words on a screen, then perhaps a change is in order. We lived just fine without FaceBook and there are MANY who do not wish to ever use FaceBook. Myself included. I did not jump on the mysapce bandwagon and I completly ignored FaceBook.

We are a "tech" dependant society. But there was a time when we DID NOT have the lovely toys we currently enjoy. We as a species did just fine. If you are having this many issues with FaceBook, then just STOP USING IT!!! If FaceBook has decided that YOUR harrasment doesnt violate THEIR policies then guess what, Its FaceBooks site, its FaceBooks customers, its THEIR descion. You can rant and rail all you like, it will not change their minds or their policies. You will just have to develope a thicker skin or leave. Seems pretty simple when you stop and think. What does FaceBook give you that you dont already have?
