i too worked at 2911 for 4 years, i went to the district manager sherry stewart, who i thought was going to help me resolve some matters concerning my manager(helen miller)...punching in wrong times that she was there, times when she would turn in 12 hours and she wouldnt be there, no where near the store,but the dm said it was fine but she could see where the other employees would be up set about it, she worked several people off the clock ann,judy,trina and sandy her husband phillip would pay them out of his own pocket. and she also repeatedly took money out of petty cash for her own use, like eating out and etc. but she always put it back, as i brought theese things to the dm s attention we had a metting helen,myself,sherry,and loss prevention during this meeting everything came out all of that her husband done her job for her he helped unload the truck, put up stock, take deposits to bank,and recorded picks handled petty cash,and alot of times people just thought he either owned the store or he actually held a job there, they would come in and ask where is that man that works here and the truck drivers would ask wheres that man that works here? then on 4-11-06 we had another meeting about all of this, that meeting was just her alone, mind you she knew all along about phillip working in the store herself had ased him to do things in the store, and her response to helen was dont let him get caught in the store,now back to our 4/11 meeting actually all she asked was me and helen the same questions helen have you ever taken money out of petty cash? she couldnt deni, and then low and behold they asked me, and i said i did have an incident 2 years ago i had asked helen to borrow 5 dollars and she told me to get it out of petty and put it back the next morning and i did...mind you in my little over 4 years did i ever get wrote up my drawer was never short other than some odd cents......so what did they do they wiggled around and they talked back and forth to one another untill they found somthing to fire me for that was similar to what helen done...a setup..she wouldnt go down alone...she even wrote a statment that she had given me permission to take the 5 dollars ..helen is the type of person if she got caught she wold take someone down with her, ilooking back i think thats the only reason she done that, and her being the manager i took her at her word that it was ok..she was a very manipulating type of person she had rumors started about me and another employee she always tried to work us against one another by asking question about everybody behind their backs . she would make the statement if you go to the dm she will believe what i tell her.i had 3 weeks vacation pay coming to me in may....does anyone know if im intitled to this? but the story getts thicker ...they took an assistant from huntsville store 4211, sandy edwards that had took 20.00 out of petty to go to a retail 101 meeting in august or september in 05 but yet she got promoted to store 2911 where i worked and miss stewart was aware of this.. and i got let go for somthing i done 2 years ago and she gets promoted for the same thing and hers happend within the last 8 months...tell me is this fair treatment??????

i feel that she was done wrongfully and that the excuse they let her go on was lame and made up between the dm and the manager, i feel that she deserves her vacation pay because you have to work a full year to receive it, and she did and that family dollar is not what they appear to be. i know for a fact that many customers no longer shop there because she is not there and the new manager and her employees do not treat the customers warmly and help them to find what they need like she did........she also should have recieved the managers position, after all she was doing that job anyways because of an injury that her manager recived at work, she was reciveing asst.pay which is not much while the manager not doing her job was on salary.....if you cant do the job then step down and give someone else a chance... she couldnt stand the idea of ann getting the managers postion so she carried out her hurt pinched nerve for 3 years or longer, so instead on ann getting what she deserved she got let go after 4 years of devotion.........that stinks no fair rewards at family dollar......let the hard workers go and keep the dead beats....whata a way to run a business or ruin one ....
