I called up this company two weeks prior to moving date and asked questions about policies, rates, times, services, etc. I also asked how long of a lead time they recommend and was told by Michelle (the always unfriendly receptionist)that 24hrs was fine. Since I was unsure of my work schedule I waited until two days before the move to schedule.

Michelle was pushy about only starting in the morning, but upon my asking three times for the afternoon she said she could schedule the men to arrive between 1 and 3. She then asked again if the next day was an option. I replied again that no it was not due to my work schedule and the fact that someone else needs to move into my apartment.

I asked also if I should give her directions or if I the movers would call me before they came. She answered that I would receive 2 phone calls, one from her the next day (day before the move) to confirm the time and date of the move. And a second call from teh movers the day of the move to confirm directions and loading dock info.

I did receive a call from Michelle the day before the move, again confirming the 2hr time window. But I did not receive any call on the day of the move.

With a time window of 1-3, I expected the movers to show up sometime within that window. That didn't happen, but I didn't get a phone call either. I had to call them to find out what was going on...

at 3:27 (27 mintes after their 2hr window had expired) I called and talked to the ever-grumpy Michelle again. She said the she had spoken with the movers 15 minutes ago (which would have been about 3:10) who were running late from another job and that they should be at my place "any minute now".

I explained to Michelle that I needed to meet a client later that night and that since they were so late I did not think the move was possible in that timeframe. She sighed and gave me an attitude asking what I wanted her to do. I could reschedule for the following morning or I could let them come now.

I explained that I couldn't do it first thing in the morning and she sighed at me once again, as though I were putting her out. She said that the only opening she had was first thing the next morning or tonight. I said that neither one of those options work and that I would need to find another company. Then she all of a sudden had an opening on Saturday. When I asked about any discount (since I lost a day's worth of pay because I was supposed to be moving during the day) she groaned and said huffily that she could "take off 50 bucks". At which point I was so sick of her attitude that I hung up.

the end? no..... 45 minutes LATER(!!) two men show up at my door expecting to move me! She never bothered to cancel the move! So I tell them that it was supposed to be cancelled and they leave. I call up and ask to speak with a manager. Michelle, recognizing the voice, gives me a hard time for a minute and then puts me on hold to speak with a namesless "manager". He, angrily asks me what he can do for me, but as soon as I start to tell him he interrupts and says "yes I'm aware, but what do you want me to do about it?"

After a few minutes of a circular pointless discussion, he can reschedule me for the next afternoon! But Michelle had already told me there was absolutely no avaiablility for that time. I again told him that I had lost a days worth of pay ($150) and asked what he would do monetarily to make it worth my while to use their company. He says that the best he can do is $25 and that he wasn't authorized to give anything more than that.

So, knowing that Michelle had already offered higher (still much less than their lack of service made me lose) I asked who was authorized. He says something about higher management who are.... pause....definitely.... pause.... out of state.

Their website lists no adress.... nothing about any parent company. And when you call information to get the number for Fast Action Movers (or Moving - I tried both) in the San Diego area, there is no losting to be found. Also the CA department who licenses movers said that they are a "very recent addition".

there is something definitely wrong with this company... DO NOT USE THEM!!!! I'm actually kind of thankful that this happened, I don't know what would have happened if they had actually moved my things. I, however am quite pissed off that they cost me a days worth of pay and on top of not offering any reasonable discount to make up for their actions (or should I say in-actions) they ahd the nerve to act like I was the one in the wrong for cancelling!!!

pissed off and stuck here with a bunch of boxes

Not Licensed!

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 11, 2004

You're right, they aren't licensed. This is the web address of their DOT information (which also lists two addresses and a phone number, but no guarantees they're still good):

http://www.safersys.org/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=1156933

It shows that they haul general freight, household goods, and automobiles, but their operation classification is for US Mail???? There is no record of their having any kind of license (I've searched under various methods, and none work, I can usually find something) The operation classification also shows "unauthorized". I don't know exactly what this means, but I certinly have a good guess :^)

SOOO glad you didn't let them take your things! Perhaps you should contact the DOT, http://www.1-888-dot-saft.com/CC_Info.htm, or toll-free by phone at 1-888-368-7238, and let them know what happened. If they truly have no license, as I suspect, they'd be interested in Fast Action trying to move you.

someone is not telling the truth here

AUTHOR: Jamie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 10, 2004

I just checked the DOT# that Fast Action Movers gives on their website and it doesn't match what the www.safersys.org website says is their number. it doesn't even have the right amount of digits.... and that website is where the department of transportation told me to go, so it's a whole lot more trustworthy than these people...

Oh, and there again is no mention of a parent company, it is headquartered in San Diego under the name of Roland Kelley. So someone is not telling the truth here, and I tend to beleive the government.
