When I first contacted Kevin Brown who is a customer service representative he made everything sound so nice and uncomplicated. They apparently gave me a good price and discount so i thought i would go with them after thinking about it for a few days i decided to go with this company. I then got a call saying that if i have any extra stuff i would be charge extra and we did have some loose items that we thought of later, they wanted to charge 300 dollars more . I then accepted not to take the extra stuff so we wouldnt complicate the move. well i guess they werent happy because i said i didnt want to spend more money. These people already knew the size of my storage and i agreed to give them a deposit of 443.49. They called again trying to reconfirm the move this time telling me i would have to pay 50% of the balance when they picked of my items in Columbia ,Pa clearly knowing i would not be there and that my sister would open the storage for them, they then said i needed a power of attorney ,thats where i drew the line and thought this is going to spiral into a nightmare money pit. They had initially told me i would pay the balance when i received my things, but they dont honor their word and they keep passing you to different people a Catherine called me ,a nicole called me ,a Kat called my husband and a Julian sent me this power of attorney to sign which by the way is also authorization to pick up and deliver your things. At the end i spoke to this man Julian and he gave me Randi email who is the refund person of contact. So story short These people are unprofessional people who do not know anything about customer service. They refused to give me the owners name.and ripped me off for 443.49 withought lifting a finger. This Kevin Brown never emailed me back to fix the situation ,they keep passing you to different people .Dont sign anything and do not try to do any business with them they are con-artist!!!

Their word is no good

AUTHOR: Laura - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 17, 2013

Their contract is deceiving and their word is no good , This is my last and final rebbuttal . If they wanted to make it right ,they would apologize for the inconvenience and misunderstanding like they kept saying over the phone and return at least part of my deposit. They may have kept my money but they lost a valuable customer forever . This is the least i can do to warn other so that doesn' t happen to them . I am a 51 yr old woman who has been taken advanted of. I am an honorable person and my word means everything.

Laura did not read her estimate agreement

AUTHOR: First Call Movers - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Laura's estimate agreement clearly discloses our role and services as a moving broker (in bold print!) therefore it is unclear why she signed her estimate agreement if she did not approve of that information.

Contract was read

AUTHOR: Laura - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, April 16, 2013

Sure i did not read the contract thoroughly at first, and that is why i decided not to go with adding the extra items ,at this point they agreed and then called me back saying that i needed to pay more money, why would they wait and keep adding parts and pieces that were not explained in the beginning . Like i said Kevin was told everything about the move ,how big was my storage ,where was i going and approximately how many pieces were in that storage what i had to pay at delivery ,not at pick up of items(this was not told to me) . The problem was not in the estimate of the items ,it was the changing of the contract with every phone call i received . These people are not professional movers but contractors ,they schedule the move and hand it off to someone else. Had i known in the beginning that is what they were ,i would have never put my money down on this . Moving companies are supposed to help people with their moves and give the best service to customers . That is not the case with this company ,they do not go out of their way to help you. The customer is not a priority either. My major move was with another company Budget .They were great. so people rent your own truck ,it is easier. These items in the storage were leftover that i left behind ,and these movers could not even bring these items to me. They at one point said so your moving to Arizona. They didn't even have that right , my storage items were due in Arkansas. I would have gladly paid the full amount had they not caused me so much trouble but instead all i got was headaches, unprofessionalism,
unethical practices and got ripped off 443.49. When i asked for the owners name they would not give it to me nor information how i could reach him.

Do not do business with these people ,If i had read these bad reports about them ,i would have never gone with them. do not type in for a mover on the internet go with a local from the area you are moving  from . I had also scheduled my move in may originally but because i moved it up a month that voided the time for me to get my deposit back ,but like i said it would have been okay if they charged for their paperwork a fee for cancellation but 443.49 is ripping you off. Oh before i go i have to add there is a Kat who tried to intimidate us by saying "Do you know where i am from?New York she said that is why people think she is brach she said. Thats not professional, It is the way you handle your business and how you treat people by using the golden Rule . The last e-mail i sent them asking for the Owners name and information ,they replied" legal@firstcallmovers.com"to file a complaint.

Laura did not read her estimate agreement

AUTHOR: First Call Movers - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 15, 2013

Laura apparently failed to read the terms and conditions of the estimate agreement which is stated in plain language with no small print.  Had Laura read the agreement she would have been aware that: 1) the price will increase if she adds items at pick-up (which is why we called her a few days before the move, to prevent any surprises by making sure her inventory was accurate) and 2) 50% of the balance is due at pick-up.  If the shipper will not be present at pick-up then it is also standard and required to obtain the shippers signature on a document identifying a representative and authorizing that representative to sign the shipping documents on the shippers behalf.  This is a professional, conscientious approach to a move, the opposite of what Laura alleges in her complaint.
