If you or a family member gets an offer from First Financial Bank USA, then do the smart thing and shred or burn it. To promote their credit cards, they advertise that the first $250 will be interest free. But what they do not tell you is that if you hold a balance, then they will start charging a monthly service fee of $2.50. The effective annual interest rate is essentially a minimum of 12%. Even if you hold a balance below the $250, you will still be charged a monthly fee for holding a balance. If it is over the $250, then you will be charged an interest fee as well with the minimum fee being $1.00.

Now lets say you want to pay your bill, most of us do. Online payment will cost you $9.00 a pop. As a college age kid I pay everything but rent online. The good thing about mailing your payment in is that you get the chance to earn late fees of $39.00.

The good thing about late fees is that you get an increase of your limit. You become a riskier investment and what do they do? Give you more credit and take more risk.

False advertising and fees for online payments make it obvious that this card is a scam. It's a lot like those cards with Annual fees, Setup fees, anc Acceptance fees. And just like those other cards, Credit Cards from First Financial Bank USA should be avoided. I hope this information helps you in your credit search. Thank you and have a nice day.

I agree that 1st Financial is awful!

AUTHOR: Robin - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, September 24, 2012

I have an account that I've had with them for quite some time now.  I owe $17,000 and I just went to my bank and had $4,000 of it transferred to them just so I could owe less to 1st Financial.  Who the hell can afford to pay 29.99% interest, especially in THIS economy.  I still owe them $13,000 but as soon I am able to completely pay them off, I am done with them.  They do harass you if you are even a day late, and they called me once after I didn't get a bill from them to ask why I didn't pay.  I told them I didn't receive a bill, so I didn't know what my minimum balance was.  So she told me I'd have to not only pay interest but a late fee.  She was very rude, and any time I've had to call them to try to figure out my payments, they have been rude.  So if I'm ever able to pay them off, I am so done with them.  I will just stick with the new card with a $4,000 limit and tell 1st Financial to stick it.  Until then, I am NOT using my new card, just so I don't bury myself deeper.  If I can't pay by cash or check card, I don't buy, PERIOD.

Worse Credit Card company I've ever dealt with

AUTHOR: Tyveil - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 22, 2010

First Financial practive completely unethical behavior and they are stealing from people.  I have had and dealt with dozens of credit card companies in the past, none as bad as 1st Financial.  They charge an annual fee, charge a fee for making online payments, max their interest rates (at 29.99) the minute anything goes wrong with your account (payment 1 day past due), and they will not negotiate a settlement for any reason whatsoever.

Do yourself a favor and stay far away from 1st Financial!  I hope members of this company gets jail time for their practices.

Experience

I currently have a credit card with a limit of 1000 and a balance of 900 (currently paying it down) and I have never had a problem with them. For the first year of having there service I always payed off what was charged on my account and eventually they raised my limit. I payed off the card until I recently lost my job and even then I could still afford to pay them. With a balance of 900 my minimum payment was only 20. Yes there online payment is expensive and the over the phone is even worse, but I use my banks online bill pay and never worry about being charge the convenience fees or late fees. Aside from that they have the best customer service I have ever seen.
