I am an avid online payer of my credit cards. I always pay my credit card payment online usually 2 -3 weeks in advance. On Wednesday 6/5/2006 I kept receiving numerous calls on my cell phone while I was at work from the same phone number (800-796-7303). After around the 6th or 7th call I thought it was important so I answered it while was at work. A representative from the billing department of Credit One Bank, formally (FNBM) stated that I had a late payment of around $70. I informed him that this was impossible because I always make my payments on time. He insisted that I pay the bill and I refused advising him that I would need to research it first to see if I was in error. He again tried to high pressure me into paying the bill now and again I refused.

I called a representative today after researching it online with my bank and with their online account services. It showed that indeed I did make a payment of $17.35 on 5/22/06 to pay my balance off, which was only $11.40. I made an extra payment of $5 to bring my balance to $0 because of the online fee that they charged. Then on 6/2/06 I made another payment of $40 for the month of June because I had used my card since the last payment.

According to them they stated because I made the payment on 6/2 that counted for the May billing cycle still. I advised them that this is ridiculous and I am being penalized for making my payment early. The CSR stated that they could not use my payment in June for Junes payment. I demanded to speak with a supervisor (Liz) who told me the same. I told them I refused to pay the late fee, which they removed, but they insisted that I still have to make a June payment. I instructed them to close out my account due to bad customer service and that I was going to report them. I would have understood if they would have sent me a billing statement that I still have a balance to pay for the month of June. Even online it still shows that my minimum payment for July is $40 due on 7/27. Nothing showing that there is a past due. Please be aware of the way their business is being conducted. They will not say anything to you or show anything online, but charge you a late fee and harass you on the phone with erroneous claims.

It didn't work, only the rebuttal button works!!! Credit One Credit Cards are a scam, plain and simple. More than 4 separate times I've been billed late fees after insuring I made my payments on time through my bank's online payment option and still I get hit with these ridiculous fees AFTER paying what I owe for the month!! This has been going on ever since I went over my credit limit and missed a couple of payments due to being unemployedd and unable to pay my monthly minimum even though I called them to inform them of my situation!! To make this short....I've been able to get back on track with my payments, yet every once in a couple of months like clockwork.... They sneak in a so called late payment fee as if I wouldn't notice it. Whenever I call them, their customer service is unavailable, whenever I do talk to them, they try to tell me that the computer access to my account is "Unavailable" and I should try calling back later!! At one point I paid $110.00 on a $34.00 minimum due bill and they had the nerve to charge me $35.00 for being so called late by one day!! When I challenged the rep to prove that i was late and asked her if she would like to talk to a real customer service rep from my bank....she immediately took off the late fee and apologized for the "Inconvenience". This credit card company is nothing more than a wolf laying in wait. I than God right now because I know that they are going to be made accountable sooner or later.

I too am a victim!

I have had my Credit One account for two years. First, their website and automated phone information never jives with their paper billing. For example. i received a bill just this weekend that says I owe a minimum payment of $40. My first wuestion is. Why did the minimum payment double when I just made two payments totalling $100 in February. Now, My payment is due, today. so I got online to pay it, and it says I have a min. payment of $0.00 due today. If I make no payment I'm sure to receove a phone call tomorrow asking where my payment is. I have now paid my original debt 4 times over. they charge me for even paying my bill!!!!!! This is rediculous and soemthing has to be done. Every other company I've ever dealt with is willing to help out, and I get nothing in the way of them wanting to help me settle this debt. They've made a ton of money off of me over the course of two years.

this makes perfect sense

if you have ever had to pay a bill you should deffinately understand how a billing cycle works. there is a specific date each month that is called your cycle code. that date is the start of the new billing cycle. if you make a payment before this date they obviously it would not count for next months payment, it would count for the previous month. this is the same for all billing cycles. this isn't a policy from credit one bank, this is legaly how billing is supposed to be done. ever credit card company, every cell phone company, every credit lender works the same way.
