Governor Kasich vowed to reform the situation at the State Medical Board of Ohio in 2010.  Despite a full-route of pill-mill physicians, he has done literally nothing to improve the situation of the false physician disciplines based on unreliable testimony from orthopedics who lie, unverifiable 'confidential' complaints, unstandardized physician office labs, and unreliable diagnoses from experts that cheat.  Ohio can pay any expert to say anything - and does.

Ohio has the most false physician disciplines, and licensure suspensions, in the US - and every other State Medical Board knows this - about the fraud going on in Ohio.  Fraud that Governor Kasich is now sanctioning as he won't review the situation - a situation that every other State Governor is aware of but himself.  Governor Romney never did this is Massachusetts - where one of the best systems of medical mistakes handling exists at the Harvard Partners Hospitals - where physician complaints are not 'confidential.'

Governor Kasich currently has the largest number of false physician discipline cases backlogged at any State Medical Board - needing review that he won't do.  If you call his office, he laughs in the background, and has a staff member tell you that 'he'll call the authorities if you continue to call' - except that he is the 'authorities.'

One physician case is 20 years old.  It infolds a woman MD whose medical license was taken for objecting to admittedly bad care by unreliable orthopedics, who did not have the certifications to do the care, who would not refer (couldn't even be relied on to do that 'right'), who did not check the supposedly 'normal' blood work that an Ohio endocrinologist did by processing in his office lab, who did not tell the truth because they were liable for the admittedly bad orthopedic care.

The blood work involved in this case - billed as 'normal' - was processed in an Ohio University Green Suburban medical office 'lab' [University Hospitals of Cleveland supposedly] where nothing was standardized.  The University Hospitals/Metro orthopedic did not question the blood work as 'normal' - from a handwritten consult - even though he never asked for the lab printout sheet before testifying to the State Medical Board that the woman MD was 'crazy' - she had continued severe bone pains and non-healing fractures.

The Cleveland University Hospitals/MetroHealth orthopedic was trying to do complicated hand fracture care without Orthopedic Hand Boards, or referring for consultation to the Hand Certified orthopedic on staff at University Hospitals.  Both orthopedics that testified to the Medical Board were responsible for the initial bad care that the woman MD got, but hadn't seen the woman MD in about 1-2 years at the time of testifying - and neither had spoken to the physicians at Mayo Clinic trying to straighten out the bad orthopedic care and the diagnosis.

The Ohio State Medical Board didn't call the Mayo Clinic before acting to suspend the woman's Ohio medical license - but made fun of the physician seeking consultation there - the Mayo Clinic is a joke in Ohio.  The workup of the woman MD's bone problem, which the Mayo Clinic advised in 1991, hasn't been finished in 20 years.  The State Medical Board of Ohio just wants a 6th psychiatric evaluation, to cover for the bad Ohio medical/orthopedic care & the Medical Board's mistakes in this case.  Governor Kasich's stomping for Governor Romney is sure to backfire with this kind of fraud - the only thing reliable is the fraud.  Governor Kasich is not like Governor Romney.

Governor Kasich is not 'on the job' regarding the State Medical Board.  There are office labs doing blood work and x-ray studies, in Ohio, that aren't standardized as to anything - equipment, training of staff, procedures or ranges of normal blood work.  In 1992, when the original problem happened, all thyroid labs had the WRONG RANGE VALUES - which should have thrown out the case when this became known in 2002-3.  Endocrine lab values, including thyroid values, were screwed up in the 1990s - not standardized.  Both of the orthopedics that testified against the woman MD had untrained/uncertified staff - who didn't know much medicine - secretarial staff who wouldn't have known even that wrong x-rays were ordered in one office.  Dr. Nice's office ordered metacarpal fracture x-rays for radius fractures.

Reforms are needed at the State Medical Board of Ohio, and a review of what is going on.  But taking a woman MD's license with so-termed 'normal' blood work run in an unstandardized way in an unaccredited lab - when the lab range values were wrong - is inexcusable.  When the blood work was finally done in other states - NY & DC - it was all 'abnormal,' and the reason for the bone pains was obvious - it was on the blood work, not on the Rorschach test.  Having a woman MD not referred to the orthopedic with the correct Board certification - is not ok.  But objecting to this fraud is just 'normal' behavior.

Julianna Margulies has a quote: 'Life is precious and you shouldn't waste a minute of it with someone who isn't reliable.'  That term 'unreliable' is what describes Governor Kasich and the Ohio State Medical Board.
