In 2009 we received a resort gift from a friend.  They gave us a week in Las Vegas to use the Grandview resort.  The first night that we arrived the receptionist was very pleasant and invited us to attend their complmentary breakfast.  We'd never heard of timeshares before. So, we attended the breakfast, and that was the beginning of a nightmare.  It was a sales gathering.  We found out that this was a time share resort, and these people were trying to sell a piece of this worthless property.  We resisted,  first of all we didn't have $20,000.00. They started to bring the price down, and that seemed unusual that they were lowering it so fast.  We got up and said that we didn't know much about this time-share thing, we didn't have the money, and we were just guests here for few days, and wanted to have a good time.  But, they dragged us in to a back room where the scam artist of the century was located.  She was good.  She made everyting sound so colorful and nice.  It was going to be the ultimate vacation plan for our small family or three, specially that we didn't have a lot of money.  We fell for it, she said that if we put up $4000.00 we were going to receive a unit that was exchangable through a points program with another company named RCI.  That we were able to come to LV any time during the year, that we were able to have a tax ride off, that we were going to have a free week any where in the world, that we were going to pay $107.00 per year only to enjoy this unbelievable deal.  Sounded great, and we never expected such a large company to lie so easily.

Well, we found out that everything this salesperson said was a lie.  RCI turned out to be a disaster, we didn't ear enough points to go any where, and every time we called, we were rudely told off that the planning should start a year in advance.  Finally, one person in 2010 said that our points and program was so small that we were never going to get anywhere with it, so I canceled it right away to save us another annual fee.  Currently, we are paying a maintenance fee that keeps increasing yearly, there's no explanation for it.  We found out that once we canceled the RCI program we were able to go to the resort once every three years, and we couldn't even spread the week.  Our deal is so bad that we can not sell it.  The management at the resort directs us to our contract.  A book written by their lawyers that we can't even figure out what it's all about. We were naive and trusting.  This was a true ripoff.  We have no hopes to get out of this, but must get the word out.  Every year that I get their invoice, I am reminded of my own stupidity, it makes me angry that I am paying my hard earned money towards something that has no benefit whatsoever for me or  my family.
