I applied for a job with Hogan transportation and while applying I was talking to the secretary about my concerns because I never operated a refeer unit and the secretary assured me they would train me and when they called me I spoke to Tabitha in safety and told her my concerns as well and I was reinsured that I would recieve the proper training. On my first day of training with a young lady name Kim she explained that I should watch the temperature and after getting unloaded I should turn the unit off because that's what they wanted us to do, so as we picked up the second load the truck broke down and that was the end of the training several hours on the side waiting for a tow truck. The next day they sent me out on my own and so I did everything I was told in that short time and way the second week on the job the send me to drop a load and pick a backhaul at Signature food when I arrive there my unit is off they take the paper work tells me to go outside and they will bring the paper so I did that, finally the shipper comes outside shows me the weight  that's all and I adjust the tandems now I get to the reciever and they take the paper work and they don't ask anything so I leave 2 days later I get a call about the trailer and they asked did you know that you was hauling frozing goods I replied no because your never told me, then I learned the unit should of been set at -10 temp. but once again I didn't know cause they loaded a off trailer and never said a word. Now I'm saying wow they told me that they deliver frozing but come back dry so shut the unit off, now I got fired because Charles says you signed the bill and couldn't understand that hauling dry products the only thing we do is look at the weight and slide the tandems and keep trucking everything is FAK. Charles said did you not know about the company and I told him no I was never giving orientation or proper training just doing what I was told to do and he really didn't care about none of that. Anyway I started seeking employment else where and no they are slandering my name saying I misuse the equipment and didn't comply with policy rules, not recommended for rehire so I ask if I wasn't giving orientation about the company what policy rules did I break and if I did what I was told shut down the unit, How did I misuse epuipment? these statements are false and all I've been asking for is papers showing training, orientation and a exiting letter.

But because you are the driver and the last in line to find everyones mistakes it is always going to be put on you.I've been fighting against this for 39 years,we have to know everyone elses job or at least take the responsibility for there failures.

The company should not have sent you out with a reefer if you didn't know what was going on with it,but they could have talked you thru it once you where on the road.Such as,hey your picking up a load of ice cream and you have to set the reefer on minus 10,but people don't care about a job once it in someone elses hands. The shipper could have told you to set it at minus 10 and it wouldn't cost them a dime more, but they think that's not there job.Now here comes the good part, your last in line, you didn't read your BL,I have never hauled a load of food when the BL didn't have on it what the tempature was suppose to be.So yes it falls on you and you are guilty, but they are just as guilty as you. The part they don't understand is they should have kept you, because people that make mistakes have learned the hard way and probably will never make that mistake again unless they are an idiot. Also now they had to hire someone to replace you and because no one wants anything to do with food wharehouses they are probably going to get another rookie on reefers,so what do they gain? Not to mention that is what insurance is for.

But all is not lost, just keep putting applications in and tell your side of the story, there are honest people out there that would gladly give you a second chance, you just have to find them.Trucking companies bad mouthing a driver is slowly becoming a thing of the past, simply because it is the same companies doing all the bad mouthing, the ones that can't keep drivers. They actually did you a favor, because dealing with food warehouses all the time is the pits unless you enjoy being treated like garbage.

I wish you nothing but the best and God Bless.
