Do not hire this company until you contacted the Better Business Bureau, California Attorney General's Office, the California Riverside District Attorney's office, California Department of Business Oversight and California Department of Consumer Affairs and read all the other complaints posted by unsuspecting consumers who have hired this company.  My story is simple.   I was 2 months behind on our mortgage when I started to receive a series of unsolicited emails from Hope For Home.  Each email stated pending sense of urgency and that my lender was about to foreclose on our property.

I asked Hope For Home if these were soliciations and was told that the were not.  Lenders are required to notificy companys like Hope For Home when borrowers start falling behind.  I called Hope For Home as was told they could help us rectify our mortgage situation.  I completed all the paper work and sent it in to Hope For Home.  Within 48 hours I was contacted by Roger who told me I qualified for a debt settlement with my Lender and that I needed to sign a written agreement in order to finalize the debt settlement.

Hope For Home made arrangements to send a notary to my house where I signed all the paper work.  The agreement I signed required me to make 4 monthly payments, each in the amount of $833 to Hope For Home as part of the Debt Settlement Agreement.  The Debt Settlement will take 4 months to complete at which time I would resume making my regular monthly payments.  Under this agreement, I was instructed not to communicate directly with my Lender and to forward all correspondence from my Lender to Hope For Home so they could respond. If at the emd of the 4 month period, Hope For Home could not reasonably rectify my mortgage situation, I would be entitled to a full refund less a $495 processing fee.

During the four months that followed, I made my payments to Hope For Homes totaling $3,332. Did not speak with my lender and forwarded all the correspondence to them.  My firtst red flag was that my processor, Jennefor Harris. would not respond to any of my phone calls or emails.  Only after repeated follow up, did she respond but with fairly vauge responses.  The second red flag was when I recieved a letter from the Lender's attorney advising they were initiating foreclosure proceedings.

I quickly sent this letter to Hope For Home and was told this is a common process and that foreclsure will continue up until the time the debt settlement is approved. The third red flag is when my Lender sent me a Request For A Loan Modification in September (5 months after Hope For Home advised that my Lender pre-qualified me for the debt settlement).  I was instructed by Jennifer to send the packett to Hope For Homes. If I completed it and sent it in to my Lender, it would void the written agreement I had with Hope For Home.  Finally, in Novemner, Hope For Home advised that my Lender denied the debt settlement but they were going to file an appeal.

Following a conferece call with Monte, I was told that it will take several more weeks before a final decision is made by my Lender.  On January 3, 2014 Hope For Home informed me in writing that it did everything it could but could not reach a reasonable resolution with my Lender.  They were going to close their file and issue my refund within the next 21 days. As of February 3, 2014 I have not received my refund.  Phone calls and emails to Jennifer, Monte, Roger and other email addresses for Hope For Home have gone unanswered. To make matters completely worse, my Lender has denied any involvement from Hope For Home in my mortgage file (despite representations from Hope For Home that they were actively and working directly with my Lender to resolve the problems with my mortgage.

Further, as part of my written agreement with Hope For Home, I am supposed to receive a comprehenive report as a result of its forensic evlaution of my Lender's underwriting files.   I have yet to receive the report as well. While I can't make you decide on what to do with your current mortgage problems, I hope you read through this complaint and decide not to use their services.  I have filed numerous complaints (Consumer Fraud) and filed a law suit (Breach Of COntract) against Hope For Home in order to get my refund that I am contractually entitled too.
