ILD TELESERVICES And Verizon charge my credit card for $15 for payphone calls worth 50cents Nationwide
*Consumer Suggestion: Coin phones are for COIN calls! USE COINS not credit cards!! Otherwise you pay credit card rates!
On june 26th my father went into the hospital, I had to make 2 calls on a payphone
I did not have the right change of 50 cents so I used my credit card. I later found out that I had been charged 3 times in the amount of $5 for the use of the pay phone. The phone was owned by verizon which also charged me $7 and $6 for the 2 calls!!!
The payphone did not listed anything like these charges, it only said 50cents for local calls. I exspected I'd pay a surcharge or something say 10-50 cents but what they did both ILD and Verizon is unforgiveable. I have told my credit card to do a chargeback on everything...I don't know yet if it will work.

Verizon and ILD are not to blame here.... payphones state the price of COIN calls. Operators quote the coin rate. It is a COIN phone. USE COINS if you need to use a COIN phone. Using a credit card places you at the mercy of the long distance carrier. If you want to find out the price of the call using a credit card, call the long distance operator stated on the phone. They are the ones who will be billing your credit card. Again though, always use coins at a coin phone. If you don't have change, get some, or buy a calling card.
