Newegg had free Egg Saver shipping (4-7 days) on this item. When I received the item, I did not have 2.5 HD to try with this enclosure. I took me a few more days to get a new 2.5 HD to work with this enclosure. By the time I tested it out ok, it was a week after I received it. So I filled out rebate form, cut the UPC code, and put on a 44 cent stamp to mail it just like I did with most of the rebates.
After two months without receiving any email confirmation, I sent one email on 9/9/10 and another one on 9/14 to rebates@iocellnetworks.com without any reply (Rebate form did not list any Website to check status, only this rebate email address). So I sent third email to support@iocellnetworks.com. I finally got reply saying the rebate was rejected because they received the rebate more than 10 days from the purchase date.
No other company will require customer to submit the rebate within 10 days of purchase. Their 10 days includes vendor order processing time (1 to 2 days), ground shipping days (4 to 7 days). They hope you dont have enough time to send in the rebate so that they can keep your hard earn money.
It's a common sense/standard rule for manufacturers to give customers at least 30 days to send in rebate. Some are 60 or even 90 days. 10 days is just a small fine print as a scam, the scam that is trying to keep customer's money by disqualifying most of the rebates.
Rebate form even says A Clean, clear copy of the dated Newegg.com invoice that comes with the package. A copy of the sales order is not acceptable. Newegg.com only ships out the products with packing list (no invoice). So if you print out the invoice from newegg.com, they will disqualify you no matter what.
Other companies will send you post card or email to let you know the reason why you are not qualified for the rebate. But they never notified me anything. They hope that you just forget about the rebate so that they can keep the customers money.
If they are doing this deceitful business practice on the rebate program, how can you trust their products? If you dont want to take the risk getting the rebate from them, just pay $3 more, and you can get a 120GB WD portable Hard Drive from (((competitor's name redacted))).

Professional and Ethical, but fraud is ok?

The VP of sales stated that there was no industry standard on postmark dates. Let me show you how. Google rebate submission within. Do you dare to take the challenge? If you cant find any reputable companies require their customers to submit the rebate < 30 days, will you resign as VP of sales? I bet you wont even find 15 days requirement. 10 days in small fine print is just ridiculous.
The VP of sales still did not even address fraud #2 on the rebate form. How can the customer send in the invoice that comes with vendor package while Newegg only sends out packing list (no invoice)?
I sent email to this company clearly listed these 2 frauds on the rebate program. In reply, VP of sales said we follow very strict guidelines with our rebate offers and we are bound by these guidelines legally. I might not adhere to their "well spelled out guidelines" because I followed my common sense and did not read their small fine print.
I am the customer who bought their product and pointing out their mistakes. A good company should listen to their customers, correct mistakes and improve their customer service. If a company wont correct their wrong doings, your sales and profit might look good temporally by cheating customers with false rebate program, all I can say, the company wont last.

As mentioned in the previous rebuttal, we may review our policy on the e-commerce post mark date as we do understand that there may be a challenge with that time allowed for postmark when placing an online order. I must also add that there is no industry standard on postmark dates and in fact many, many of the major consumer electronics rebates follow the exact same criteria which we follow. I must also add that we have processed thousands of rebates from the same etailer without incident. I am convinced at this time that the consumer is just upset that he did not adhere to the well spelled out guidelines. This will be the last rebuttal we file and we certainly strive to provide the highest level of customer service and operate our business in a professional and ethical manner.

Why 10 days from the purchase date???

Vendor processing time takes 2 or 3 days. Ground shipping takes 4 to 7 days. By the time customer getting the products, it could be almost 10 days. So how many days left for customer to send in the rebate? Possible 0 day. If you mail the rebate on Saturday after the mailman comes, then you are out of luck. It won't be post marked until the following Monday.
The employee #1 of IOCell networks admitted 10 days for their rebate program. Why they did not follow industry standard 30 or more days for submitting the rebate? Simple, they just to make it difficult for customers and try to disqualify you so that they can keep customer's money. On the other hand, what difference does it make if they receive the rebate in 10 days or 30 days?
Also their rebate form even says A Clean, clear copy of the dated Newegg invoice that comes with the package. A copy of the sales order is not acceptable. They know that Newegg only ships out the products with packing list only (no invoice). So if you print out the invoice from Newegg website, they will disqualify you anyway.
Take a look at their rebate form. You be the judge to see if this is deceitful business practice or not.

Dear Consumer

Iocell Networks has been working with this customer directly, but unfortunately we are unable to resolve the issue with this customer. Clearly on the rebate form it states the website to register the rebate and the guidelines for the rebate. The guidelines are short and concise to make it as easy for the consumer as possible. This person is correct in the fact that the guidelines state 10 days from the time of purchase and perhaps we will review that policy for online purchases, but in terms of this particular case the guidelines are clearly stated. This consumer is wrong to accuse us of not notifying him and hoping the problem goes away and feel that is a irrational statement. In fact we have tried to make it easy for the consumer by having a website to go to to check the status of your rebate at any time and also it will tell you when the check is being mailed. We apologize that this consumer feels negatively about our process, but Iocell Networks processes thousands and thousands of rebates per month with no problems at all. There are only very few cases where the rebate is rejected and unfortunately this is one of them. We understand this consumer's dissatisfaction regarding this issue, but unfortunately are unable to resolve the issue with this person.
