ITP shows up in reviews of VOIP companies as "rated well".  Not for long in my opinion!

This company touts $19.95 unlimited domestic usage and several other features common for VoIP companies.

Much to my surprise, after 4 months of usage they "flagged" my account as being a possible "business line" and started charging me a per minute fee of $0.025 per minute.

I never received a phone call, email, or letter indicating that they were changing the terms and conditions of my service.

According to the customer care rep, they saw "consistent calling patterns" that were being interpreted by their "computer system" as BUSINESS calling patterns, and therefore, they began charging me a per minute fee.

I explained that I have this line for personal use, and have a Business line of my own in Boston.

They said they would consider my plea and get back to me.  In the meantime, American Express just received my 2 months of disputes and suggested they will credit me back.

Hey out there...Are we looking at a possible opportunity for a class action lawsuit?

How many other customers are just assuming they are being billed as unlimited and they arent?

Buyer beware!  I'll be porting my number away as soon as I can make arrangements.

ITP, SHAME ON YOU.  DECEPTIVE, AND UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR In my opinion.

This Guy Is Telling the Truth

AUTHOR: RonAnon - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, January 01, 2017

This guy is telling it exactly like it is. I had the same experience. Ignore the ITP VOIP hacks posting contradictory posts, saying it's great. Believe me! It's not! They're shysters.

NoWay

I am a former customer that does not share the same view point as you. You are either an employee of the company or the exception rather than the rule.

ITP is a horrible company that attacked me when I canceled their service for not porting my existing phone line for four months while chargein me for servie I did not use. Upon cancelation, they sent me a note stating I had 14 days to return their unused equipment. The SAME DAY, they charged me $100 for being a "risk" to not returning their equipment. Buyer beware! Stay Away!

I'll be a witness but only for ITP

AUTHOR: Artie - (U.S.A.)

I would never support any type of Lawsuit on ITP and as a matter of fact, I would join in as a Witness for ITP. They have been outstanding with my service. I have no problems nor trouble with my service and everything works so well. My question is if people are so dissatisfied with service why don't they just go back to their carriers who overcharged them in the first place. Now if ITP "flagged" your account as being a possible "business line" and started charging and you admit you do have a business line with another carrier, I would think the way ITP logs all calls they will be able to prove that many of your ITP calls may have been business calls. Sorry I do like backing the underdog but not in this case. Oh, before you get any ideas I do not now nor have I ever have worked for ITP. I have been with a few Voip Phone services and they were all terrible and that includes Vonage. ITP just gives me everything I need for a Phone service and that's why I dropped AT&T and there $ 85.00 a month bills.

ITP's response

AUTHOR: ITP - (United States of America)

Im sorry that you feel that youve been taken advantage of, but the Premium Unlimited calling plan for $19.99 is unlimited for residential use only.

Our system is built with various algorithms that look at call patterns to determine whether the phone is being used for a business or for home use.

The terms and conditions of your service have not been changed. It clearly states that if the phone is used inappropriately, you may be charged for usage.

As you mentioned we would consider your plea. We were obviously trying to work with you and would have refunded your overages on a one time basis.

As a final thought, our investigations of this type of call pattern; 99% of the time turn out to be indeed a business and the user is attempting to pay for the Residential plan instead of the Business plan. If we would allow this, we would not be able to give our honest customers the great rates that we do.
