My story appears to be familiar to the others posted!! My Fiance owed the IRS money, and tried desperately to pay it. Time and time again we were told, "It is not a large enough amount for the IRS to go after". Wrong answer, they attached his pay and left him to live on $150.00 a week. They also placed a lien on our home!

He went to J K Harris in Hartford, CT because they advertised "Tax problems - Pay pennies on the dollar, we can help". He had to pay $850.00 that day, and sign a contract to pay $140.00 a month for the next year. The first priority was to remove the "attachment" to his pay because he could not survive on that kind of money. The response was no problem; it will take a week and be over!

What a bunch of nonsense. Day after day, call after call, week after week he received his $150.00 a week, and J K Harris evidently fell off the face of the earth. We called and called leaving 20 - 25 messages. We would leave all of the information, and three phones numbers to call us back. They would call one number and leave the message to call them back. I waited 17 minutes today!! I also have to date, twelve different phone numbers to call.

When the representative actually talked to me today, she was extremely defensive, stating they did all they could to help us. They also stated they called us many times. I explained that I went to the web site thinking I could get through to J K Harris faster, and I found all these "Rip-off Reports" instead. She stated it could not be their Company, and I was mistaken. She stated all of their customers are happy!

I explained I wanted my money refunded from J K Harris, and I would not be paying another nickel. She said, I doubt you will get it back, but put it in writing and send it in".

I also mentioned my frustration with doing all of the work ourselves. We went to the IRS, we retrieved total amount due, we took out the loan, and we paid in full and no longer have his pay attached or a lien on our home! Why would I pay J K Harris for this? She responded with, "Hey, we told you not to call the IRS, and you did it anyway, that is not our problem". I responded with, we did this because you were not doing what you were being paid to do!

Needless to say, this Company is a complete rip-off, false advertising, lack Customer Service, and they charge you money for all that too! If you have tax problems, call the IRS and figure it out yourself. If you can afford a lawyer, they can and will help you!

I Too have been the Victim of the JK Harris scam

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 18, 2005

I am a 100% disabled Veitnam Veteran living solely on my disability pay. My last work was in the early 1990's. Most of this time I was in and out of hospitals. The IRS claimed I owed $30k some in back taxers and $20K some in penalties. They levied my disability (1/2 of it) which is not all that much.

I contracted the JK Harris firm through their rental office in Lubbock, Texas. I paid them $2,000 up front and $200 per month. They said it would be simplte to get the levy lifted. Then they wanted me to file back tax returns. The IRS said I had no reportable income and I did not need to. Then the IRS sent letters saying they actually over charged me on my taxes for those dates, but still the wonderful JK Harris firm isn't able to get this resolved?

So my levy continues. I am out the $4,000 I paid JK Harris and another $9,000 in unnecessary IRS fees. The JK Harris company has cost me money and has not saved me money.

I call them, try to FAX them, try to email them, and I write them. I get no reply. After they got my money it is as I do not exist and the hell with my situation. I am sure ol' John Harris is doing just fine lounging in his easy chair sipping on mint julips in Osuth Carolina while I am trying to eek out some food in the flats of Portales, New Mexico.

I think a major RECO anit-racketeering/fraud lawsuit is due the JK HArris Company.

Lien and levy ?

AUTHOR: Roland - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 27, 2004

Usually a lien is placed when a levy is not an option due to a small source of income .
A lien generally is placed to notify the public that taxes are in arrears. There generally is enough equity in the object of the lien to satisfy the tax debt.

I have not seen a lien and levy placed unless there is a high income and the individual has ignored the CP letters sent by certified mail.
