John Beck Mentoring of America/Shawn Higgins They breached my mentoring contract TWICE!!!!!! Internet, California

    John Becks "Mentoring of America" program sounded like the ideal way to get into certain aspects of buying real estate and I was stoked when I gave them my large downpayment with the agreement that I would be charged a certain amount each month to pay off the program. The monthly billing WAS to begin AFTER I received my training sessions. 
   
    My first two trainging sessions were by Charlene and informative.  Someone new did the third session because Charlene was "sick" and she basically went over everything Charlene had done then - OOPs! hour's up.  My fourth session was by yet again a new mentor who had no idea what she was even talking about, no reference to the past sessions, no answers to my questions and again - OOPs! hour's up!   I am really frustrated when I want to talk to someone about what I feel are 2 useless sessions and left a message to that effect nad no one even called back to address my issue or for the rest of my mentoring sessions.
   
    I will admit, I was a little negligent in calling them because I now figured that I was still being billed each month so I felt I could pick up the phone and basically restart the whole mentoring sessions.   I called and spoke with a mentoring  representative who agreed that I could get, not all I felt I was due but, 4-5 more mentoring sessions and I signed a new agreement with the company.
    
    No one ever called for those sessions and although I work from my home, have an answering machine and everything, I never heard from anyone until a collection agency called representing John Beck.
   
    I spoke with and mailed letters to this company stating that twice they had failed to deliver what I had contracted for.  I wanted a refund and they had to stop the collection agency and right my credit.  This was April of 2011.  I was never contacted by the mentoring company or this collection agency until today 12/14/2011 stating that I owed $1600.00!!!!!  I had informed John Beck in April that I would not pay the then balance of $750.00 +/- and that they owed me!!!

   I did try calling the John Beck phone number today to discuss this and a company called Sean (Shawn?) Higgins answered.   I was told that the Mentoring of America program was "suspended last year" and when asked to clarify this, I was told by E., a SH employee representing john Beck programs,  that the program simply was not for sale any longer and that Sean Higgins was supporting the Mentoring of America program purchasers.  I then found out the FTC froze the assets of Mentoring of America and several other programs last year!!!  I called E. back because he had stated to me that I would never see a refund after I declined his offer to get the rest of the sessions now - nearly 2 years after the initial agreement and almost a year after I gave them a second chance!

    I have all the "contracts" and can prove the sessions I had and the deposit and monthly charges. I have the documentation, notes taken during the two real sessions I had (which my husband and mother sat in on as well) and copies of letters, e-mails and phone contacts to this company trying to rectify this but they insist on ruining my credit and refusing my refund.  I will fight until this is cleared and I am free of this scamming company forever!!!  
   Hang up, change the channel, shut down your computer if John Beck anything is being advertised
- JUST DON"T DO IT!!!!!!    I now have no mentoring, a collection agency and no cooperation from this company.   I have a case as I am sure many others have as well - good luck to all of us!   The FTC has a case open against John Beck and I encourage everyone to file these complaints as the company is not working with anyone wanting a refund!
