On 12/4/07 Kristy Buchanan of K & M Enterprise called me to see if i could help her paint a hotel in Melbourne. After talking with her i agreed to help her & at rate of $40.00 per hour, for me & my help. She said her husband Matt would be there with a few guys also. Later the same day her husband Matt called and again we agreed on $40.00 per hour and we would start thur. 12/06/07. The pay was going to be Thur & fri. would be paid 12/14/07 the following fri.
Thur. morning i met Matt & his helper. We looked at the rooms then i got my crew together and started painting. Matt & helper said the were going to another floor to sand drywall. 4 or 5 times he & helper stoped in to check on us. They stayed for about 4 hours then left.
Fri. we were at work when Matt showed up. He wanted to bill the hotel for 25 rooms & a hall ( he got paid by the room & hall). to do this the hotel gave me rooms to stay in so we could work more hours. Matt said that they would let him bill for all work done over the weekend. I stay & worked all weekend.
We work all week 12 to 14 hours to finish the 40 rooms & hall Kristy contracted for. Come fri Matt showes up freaked out say Kristy had called Fed X and they told her there was no package being delivered to the hotel that day. Matt talked to the hotel and they told him it would be there. Kristy call every delivery place and said no package was coming. I pack up my tool &
Matt told us to leave that the hotel was calling the police because he was getting mad.
As soon as he heard the police were coming he jumped in his car and left. I went and talked to the hotel contractor and he said the check was comming.
It was just late. Sat. Kristy got her check for $9,200 and told me it was no good. By wed. her story changed many times. 1) the check was no good 2) the bank would only give her a cashier check and it would take 7 days to clear. She paid me $800.00 for Thu. & Fri the 1st week but said the rest would be later. I had to file a lien against the hotel & still have not been paid.
Kristy still had another check comming but with me putting the lien on the hotel she said she didn't get it. To this day Kristy got over $9,200 from the hotel & owes me $3,360.00 .
She just won't pay. The hotel told me to put the lien on the property and give them a copy. She just says the cashier check has not cleared. I was to be paid by the hour. How she gets paid is up to her. I worked & painted the rooms with my tool and i only got $800.00 out of $4,160.00 owed. Her husband & helper never worked helping paint as she said they would. I was only there to help and ended up doing all the work. Unpaid i should add.
This is a great way for a company to do there help. At the end of the day Kristy made over $9,000 has a check coming for $3,600 clearing over $12,000 for her company, $800.00 for me & a $3,360.oo lien for the hotel.

was a victim of them last May. I am a first time home buyer with little cash, looking to do small improvement to my home. Steve's smooth talking charm leeward me into hiring him. During his time at my house, I bought them breakfast and lunch, never once spoke of concern or disrespected him. Come to find out, all the tile that he installed ($1000 dollars worth) needs to be ripped up because the floors are shifting (he did not install backerboard) causing all the tile and grout to crack, which I can't afford to replace. He also ran off with 400 dollars of my money that he never worked for. After not showing up on the job for nearly 2 weeks, and not retuning my phone calls, I had to track him down through his landlord. He mentioned that his kid was in the Hospital and some guy from Florida was threatening his life so he couldn't leave his home. He also mentioned to me he was going to send a check for the 400, but never did. I know they were in the Colorado Springs area and ran out on there landlord in July. The landlord mentioned to me that he found phone records where he was talking to a church up in Canada. There also might be a possibility they went to Grand Junction, where a friend of Steve's son went to work after shortly living with them in Colorado Springs. I do believe that they are decent people with completely lost souls. I hope this will never happen to anyone else because this caused great hardship in my family because of the money we had to save to get this work done, and then come to fine out, we can't afford to get it fixed and they ran off with, in our mind, a considerable amount of our money.

I honestly do believe that Kristy and Matt Buchanan have done what they are accused of. I have known them for over 7 yrs and know the kind of people they are. If anyone is intersted, they have relocated back to either Utah or Colorado. They recently found out about this website and left her moms house in florida.
They are known for using scams against restaurants, amusement parks and anyone gullible or afraid of a lawsuit. Social Services are also gullible and so is her mom. Kristy lies to her constantly and lets her think that these sites are bogus and that she really is leaving florida for jobs when in actuality its when people are close to finding her and Matt. Matt does owe lots of child support in Georgia. They are banned from receiving assistance there due to fraud. Kristy and Matt have also converted to the Mormom church-God forbid that they think of contraception, since Kristy is now pregant with another child (#6).
So, if you live in either Utah or Colorado, beaware. Kristy and Matt are very dangerous. They can even con a church member. Be on the lookout for a woman with black/brown hair, 5 kids and deadbeat husband whose real name is STEVEN MATTHEW BUCHANAN.
Matt as he is known used Kristy as a shield while she was pregnant against the SWAT team in Georgia. They use their kids name when they are claiming fraud against restaurants and amusement parks. The old food was bad, or I fall routine.
I am not being malicious, its just that they seem to always getting away with this. They will remain in either Utah or Colorado for a few more months and like clockwork, they will return to her moms home to hide out.

Matt has warrants for his arrest in Ga. & Fl. and used to be in law enforcement & you should call 911 if you see him. DO NOT confront him call local law enforcement.
