I received a phone call from Nicole at K & R Distributing telling me I was selected to receive a free carpet cleaning worth over $300.00.  When I questioned how my name was chosen I was told I had entered in a drawing at a home show or a fair.  I stated I had not been to either and was then told it was a referral from someone I  knew who had received the service. I questioned why I would receive this for free and was told it was a new system they were advertising by word-of-mouth only. I agreed to have the carpets cleaned on the following Saturday at 3:00 p.m. I was not given a call back number or the name of who was going to clean my carpets.

The cleaning person, Chris, showed up at my house two hours earlier than scheduled without a phone call prior to the early arrival.  I was just leaving but my husband was home and let him in.  After 10 minutes of chatter with my husband Chris started demonstrating a Kirby vacuum.  This demonstration went on for 20+ minutes before my husband phoned to tell me it was a sales pitch to sell a vacuum.  I returned home and Chris started in on his sales pitch to me.  I questioned him as to if this was really a free carpet cleaning or just a sales pitch and he replied "I won't lie to you, it's a vacuum sale."

At this point I told him I wasn't interested and that Nicole was very misleading on the phone.  I went on to say I felt they were using false advertising which I did not appreciate and to please pack up his things and leave. He tried to argue with me and talk his way into staying. On the third time I had to tell him to leave I added if I had to tell him again I would become angry and that wasn't pretty.

He reluctently started packing up his things with a few more attempts to talk me into letting him stay.  I had to be very firm in order to convince him I really did mean for him to leave.  He very slowly packed his things.  He also very carefully cleaned and shined the demo vacuum and repacked it with all the styrofoam and cardboard packing to make it appear it was a brand new, never before used machine.

He took an extremely long time to remove himself and his gear from my home and once in his truck in my driveway he sat for several minutes more before leaving. That evening at 5:00 I got a call from a man asking for Chris.  When I told him there was no one named Chris here he said he wanted the man cleaning my carpets.  I told him Chris had gone several hours ago and he laughed and hung up.

I have no doubt if I hadn't been VERY VERY frim in my requests for Chris to leave he would have stayed for a long time with a high pressure sales pitch.  This company is a total scam and has no concept of honesty/integrity. I would tell everyone to STEER CLEAR!!!

First off, I would like to say I am sorry you felt mislead.  K and R Distributing does, in fact, offer free carpet shampoos to our custumers.  We usally do a living room, dining room and hallway if they are all connected, or one room of your choice.  We perform 8 to 12  carpet shampoos daily, on average.  We have many satisfied custumers.  Some choose to purchase our system after seeing the great job that our cleaning system does.  Others are happy with the free shampoo and choose not to purchase the system.

Some of your statments are not accurate.  No one ever said it was a $300 value.  We do state that this is how we advertise and that the system is for sale.  But there is no cost or obligation to buy.  I have talked to Chris and he stated that he was pulling up a lot of dirt from your carpet and that he wanted to get all of it out before shampooing.  He was not allowed to finish the job.  I think if you would have let him finish you would have been happy with the carpet shampoo.

K and R Distributing has been doing business for 23 years in the Northwest.  We take pride in our customer service and reputation.  Please don't let one customer out of the thousands of happy ones deter you from our business.
                                                                                Sincerely  K and R Distributing
