Landmark Windows Shooty workmanship. Promises not kept. Bad windows. St. Catherines, Ontario

We purchased 7 units from Landmark in March 2009.  When they arrived in May they were not what we had ordered and coincidentlly not what was on the contract...however we had the exterioir of our house ripped apart and decided to have them installed anyway.

The crew that was sent to our house was anything but professional.  They did not come with supplies and asked several times where stores were to pick things up or asked to borrow things from my husband.

Then things got really bad.  The installation was the worse hack job we have ever seen.  They cut capping to short and filled it in with caulking. They forgot to put wood behind some of the capping. They did not support the bay window. My master bedroom window and front garden doors leaked. They did not re-frame the front wall according to code and left rotten wood in the walls.  The drywall looked like it was done by a 2 year old.  The trim was cut too short and leaking sap. And they left my house a mess.

We called the company, who after several issues finally decided to come out to the house. They agreed that things were very wrong and took the installer around to tell him what needed to be fixed.  They also convinced me to sign the loan agreement on the condition that nothing would be processed until the job was done to our satisfaction.  We found out 2 months later that they had processed the loan the next day and just deferred our payments for 90 days.

To make a very long story short we are now 7 months and 3 installers later and we still do not have a finished job.  Landmark, as well as the company that manufactuers their windows (Majestic) and doors (DoorPlex) have been to the house countless times.  We are getting a huge amount of condensation even though the humidity in our house is only 6%. Landmark brought out a Thermo-gun to test the windows and a unit they replaced last week was 3 degrees colder then the unit beside it and a 9' patio door that is over 10 years old and drafty rated 5 degrees warmer than any of the units Landmark installed.

My garden doors are still leaking and they just packed insulation above my bedroom window last night to stop the air from whistling through. We have been fighting with this company for 7 months now and have been lied to time and time again from everyone there.

A few months back one of the head guys offered us $500 to settle....$500 what a joke when we paid $20,000 for the windows.

If you are considering Landmark here is my advise....RUN!!! Do not let these people into your home. We are normally DIYers, however my husband has had to take work out of town so we decided for the first time we would hire a contractor...it will also be the last time.

We have filed complaints with the BBB and have had another company come out to price replacing all the windows.
