DJ Doran is a fraud
AUTHOR: Miriam Bradley - ()
SUBMITTED: Sunday, February 09, 2014
As a long-time subscriber to Lats & Atts, it pained me to see it get destroyed by Mr. Doran. I was even at the Strictly Sail show in Oakland that year, met Bob and Heidi and toured the Lost Soul - but the one thing that never really felt "right" with me was when I met Mr. Doran. Everyone was so excited about the new direction that L&A was going, and I felt their energy and went right along with them...until I shook Mr. Doran's hand.
As a witch, I pride myself upon being able to read people. What I read from Bob was a warm, caring, wonderful person. I got the same "vibe" from Heidi. What I received from DJ was nothing but cold malice. Sure enough, less than a year later, my beloved Lats & Atts had shut down...and despite what he says, it was NOT from Bob.
Let me ask you this - if you communicate with someone from a company, do they hem & haw about what you can expect, give you excuses, REFUSE to even tell you where they are located? That says SCAM, and that is EXACTLY what DJ Doran is doing and HAS done.
You ask Bob, he'll bend over backward to give you an answer or point you in the right direction. He'll give you his address. Hell, he'll give you his telephone number direct!
Not so with DJ.
NO one knows where he is.
So I ask you...whom do YOU trust?

Shut down web sites?

It just doesn't make any sense that shutting down the web sites forced you to cease publishing. That's a weak excuse for screwing your subscribers.

As the new owner, it was your responsibility to see that the subscribers were protected, no matter what may have happened to your "deal" with the previous owners.

FALSE & INACCURATE Information provided by MR. Watson about Sextant Publishing
AUTHOR: Sextant Publishing, Inc. - ()
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, April 23, 2013
Mr. Watson.
You are both wrong and inaccurate in what you have written. Sextant Publishing did not issue any "bad checks" to advertisers. Some checks were not honored to the printer and to the sponsor of the last Share the Sail event but there is a credible reason for this circumstance. Did you bother to research why the company closed? Did you know that all of the Share the Sail deposits were collected before we took ownership and spent on things other than for the Share the Sail? Did you know that Sextant Publishing had to cover the entire cost of the whole event as a result of the financial mismanagement by the former Publisher? No, of course you did not. Did you know that Mr. Lipkin never released control over the domain names Latsandatts.com and seafaring.com (Check it out yourself) and that it was he that shut down the website and redirected our emails forcing us to close when we would not sell him the company back? Did you know that? Did you know that the purchase agreement that Mr. Lipkin created and signed himself clearly states that we were responsible for company debt and subscriptions up to and AFTER January 13th 2012 and that any subscription monies paid prior to that date went to FTW Publishing and Mr. Lipkin? Of course you didn't.
Mr. Lipkin violated the agreement that he created and signed repeatedly and continues to do so and then proceeded to destroy and smear us and the company he founded in order to force us to give it back to him when we did not agree. Becuause of his actions the company was forced to close and as a result some employees have not been paid and some debts have not been settled. He and his "Family" may have won in the court of public opinion up to this point but we will prevail in the only court that matters.
And as for "WHY" it has taken so long to respond? We invested every cent that we had trying to save Latitudes and Attitudes and lost it all. In the end, no amount of money could have saved the company from the years of financial bloat, years of mismangement financing a decadent lifestyle for Bob and his Family and much more.
I am looking forward to finally going to court and feel confident that we will prevail on the legal merits alone and not on all of the gossip and BS that has been put out there.
Last thing, Did you know that Robert Lipkin filed personal BK and included Sextant Publishing and the principles personally because he wants to be exonerated from the over 500K in debt that he accumulated and which he is now trying to dump on us because he couldnt get the company back.
Pretty slick if you ask me.
Latitudes and Attitudes was on the precipice of financial disaster after years of mismangement and was wholly unprepared for the economic downturn when we came along thinking we could save it and preserve Bob's legacy. Bob's bad investments in the Shannon, too high of a management overhead, outrageous printing and production costs, extravagant dinners at boat shows and parties that lost money was finally catching up to Mr. Lipkin and he and Jodi knew it.
I look forward to the day when I will be able to present in court, all of the emails, text messages, skype conversations, documents, contracts and everything else to support what we allege to an impartial Judge and Jury who will decide which party will prevail, not on gossip or heresay but rather on the LEGAL merits of facts presented.

False information given by "owner" of "Sextant Publishing"
AUTHOR: David Watson - ()
SUBMITTED: Monday, April 22, 2013
The information presented in the rebuttal by "Sextant Publishing" has zero credibility due to the fact that Sextant Publishing passed multiple bad checks for payments to advertisers and creditors, still owes nearly $1 million to Mr. Lipkin and over $10,000 to a staff member with zero attempts made to reconcile, and per the agreement for the purchase of Latitudes & Attitudes had agreed to take care of all of the company's debt thereby making Sextant Publishing liable for any and all monies including subscriptions.
I find it further telling that "Sextant Publishing" has waited this long to rebut the numerous claims against them and is attempting to push all expenses back upon Mr. Lipkin now that he has resurrected the magazine and its subscriber base.

Sunbscriptions paid for before January 13th 2012 were paid to FTW Publishing and Robert Lipkin.
AUTHOR: Sextant Publishing, Inc. - ()
SUBMITTED: Saturday, April 20, 2013
Any subscripttions paid for before January 13th 2012 went to FTW Publishing, Inc. and the former publisher of Latitudes and Attitudes, Robert Lipkin. The company was closed when Mr. Lipkin violated multiple terms of the purchase agreement between FTW Publishing, Inc. and Sextant Publishing Inc.. FTW Publishing, Inc. failed to turn over control of the domain names, Latsandatts.com and Seafaring.com as required by the executed Purchase Agreement and illegally shut down the websites at the end of June 2012, thus forcing the company to cease publishing and operating.
Any subscriptions paid for through Amazon.com do not come to Sextant Publishing, Inc.
