On August 12, 2008, I paid 32.10 to have a new lens put in my eyeglasses that I had purchased on April 9, 2008 (which cost $320.00 with insurance benefits and quite frankly shouldn't have needed repairs so soon). On August 16, I received a phone call that my glasses were ready to be picked up. On August 20, I went to the Lenscrafters at the Upper Valley Mall in Springfield to pick up my eyeglasses. After the optician looked for my eyeglasses for a little over 30 minutes, uttering, "I know I just saw them here..." she told me that I had already been in a few days before to pick them up.

Naturally, I was shocked and said "NO. I haven't picked them up. That's why I am here now. There must be a mistake. Please check again." She then argued with me that I had in fact been there and picked them up. I was then ignored as I pressed the issue further, feeling as though my eyeglasses had to be there and she had just misplaced them.

I was then given the manager's card and instructed by another optician to call the manager for help. The next day, I phoned the manager as soon as the store opened and she also insisted that I came to pick them up. I NEVER PICKED UP MY GLASSES. In no way was I rude or difficult over the phone-more than anything I was in disbelief that the manager I thought could help to find out what happened was also claiming that I had picked the glasses up when I had not.

The manager, LaDon, offered me half off another pair of eyeglasses but could not guarantee that I could get the same pair. I assured her that I was only interested in obtaining the eyeglasses I had brought to the store to be repaired and asked her to please check every possible option of finding MY glasses.

My mother and father were quite upset to hear what was happening, so they visited the store with me the same day I had spoken to the manager over the phone. When I inquired whether or not the manager had found my glasses, she said, "No, and I looked everywhere. You picked them up. I SEEN you in here."

She also went on to say that the other optician commented that the Monday night I picked up my glasses that I was, "acting peculiar." She actually said, that I was acting peculiar? What exactly is she insinuating, here? Was I acting peculiar because it wasn't me who picked up my glasses?

Here's the most outrageous thing of all, the optician has a receipt noting the date of when the eyeglasses were dispensed, yet no signature verifying it was me who picked them up. They do not have my signature verifying that I picked up my glasses and are clearly lying to me about it. I do not know what happened to my glasses. When I insisted the opticians be honest about what happened to my glasses instead of lying, I was hoping they would just admit to misplacing them, giving them to someone else, etc...but they insisted I even wore the glasses out of the store!!!

I have contacted my attorney about this matter. Two weeks have gone by. While typing this complaint. Lenscrafters called and said, "Some lady just brought in your glasses she had gotten by mistake!" This new optician, Freda, acted as if she knew of the dispute from a couple of weeks ago and acted as if it was no big deal, was very nice, yet, I still have to go pick them up and there was no offer to ease my difficulties over the two weeks I had to endure having no remedy to the situation. Imagine if this lady had not brought my $320 eyglasses into the store.

Just because my glasses were suddenly found doesn't mean this situation is okay or that it is over. I have just received the number of the district manager and WILL report this mishap to as many people as I can. I am no longer a customer of Lenscrafters and will never be again. period.
