I bought a Husquarna riding lawnmower at Lowes withe extended warranty.

I filed a claim during the extended warranty as the lawn mower did not work.

What happened: I was driving it when the engine suddenly stopped. I pushed it into the garage and noticed that oil was leaking. I called the warranty department and filed a claim within the extended warranty period.

Lowes sent a local lawn eqipment company to pick up the mower and repair it. After 2 weeks I called them (A & L Lawn equipment in Irving, TX 972-986-1524) and the y told me that the mower needs a new "short block" (engine part) which would cost $960. They stated that they contacted Lowes and Lowes refused to pay for the repair.

I called Lowes today and they state that as the engine was leaking oil, the warranty would not cover the repair.

I paid for the extended warranty, I filed my claim while it was in effect. The engine stopped and then oil leaked out (some of it I captured in a pan). They pretend that I drove the lawn mower around without oil and that's why they will not cover the repair. I check my oil  every time before I start the engine and it was at the normal level. If something is wrong with the engine and it leaks oil, I cannot be made responsible for that as I did what every prudent customer would have done.

This is clearly a devious attempt by Lowes to weasel themselves out of the repair costs. There are multiple complaints like this on the internet, where they refuse to pay for repairs that should be covered by the extended warranty.

I wish some major law dirm would pick this up and turn into a successful class-action lawsuit for all the customers that were defrauded by these denied warranty claims.

Sincerely,

Seval Gunes, M.D.

TYG states that I should not rely on gauges for the oil but check the dipstick.

If you had any clue and would not be a troll for Lowes you would know that the lawnmower does not have any oil gauges and the only way to check the oil level is with the dip stick. Your other comment about tire pressure and so on (what does that have to do with engine problems?) clearly outs you as an ignorant shill for Lowes.

Better luck next time and get your facts straight.

As far as Lowes is concerned, you DID drive around without oil. If it was leaking and you did not do your duty as a responsable owner, then they are correct. Did you EVER take it in and have the leak repaired? probably not. You wish to blame Lowes for what is in essence your fault. A responsable owner would do 6 month check ups. And that doesnt mean just look at the guages. It means get your hands on the oil dipstick. Check your blades. Verify the tire preasure. Lowes can only go on the information that the LOCAL company gave them. Your beef is with them not Lowes. If they reported that the wear on your short block looks like you drove it with no/low oil, then hey thats on them and you.

Dont bash a company that is only responding to the information your LOCAL service techs supplied. Im sure in your profession you have had to report unpleasant information to ppl. This is no different, just a different field.Look at it this way, now you can get yourself a NEW mower!!!

You were not scammed or ripped off nor defrauded. Im 100% sure if you ACTUALLY read the extended warrenty contract you will see the clauses that you would have violated.
