Just like any of you, I saw the advertisement on TV that shows that you can have this "Amazing system for 29.95.

This is a bunch of bull.

I purchased the system for my wife's christmas and although they advertize $29.95 on TV, I ended up paying 60.00 because I added a few things that made the system better then the basic system.

Today, I received notice that Luminess has charged me $69.95.  I called the company and they informed me that this was not a monthly charge for extra make up that you have to cancel if you do not want it.  This is 1 of 5 installment payments for the compressor and air brush.  Are they kidding.. It is a simple compressor.  400 dollars for a compressor is ridiculous.

I did inform them that since my wife used the system once, I would have her keep it but I am very upset that although they claim that I was notified that a large cost is needed for the system and I will be charged 400 dollars after the 30 day trial, all I notice is that it says that this is a 30 trial or money back.

Honestly, I had no idea what they were talking about.  i clicked on it and purchased the make up and other things that my wife would need to use the system.  At no time did something come up and mention that if I wanted to keep the system, it would cost me $400.00.  I would have never spent that kind of mioney on this type of system.  My wife prefers Lancome products.  They did tell me that it is part of the fine print that no one ever reads.  My fault.  I trusted another website company to be straight forward and honest and as usual, it is a scam.  I say scam because the cost is far more then advertising on TV and you still have to cancel the auto make up they will send every two months.

If you are prepared to pay the 450 - 500 dollars it takes to have this system, I think you will be happy with it if you know how to use it, but if you assume that the system will cost 29.95, please do not purchase this system

You will be screwed out of 5 x 69.95 and 29.95 every two months.

My wife suffered a very severe stroke 2.10 years ago and is paralyzed on the left side.  I alway try to find new things that can make her feel that her life is remotely as similar to what her life was.  Or at least make it easier to do things on her own.

I am generally very generous at christmas as my wife is very big on beauty products.  She was a runway model in her younger years and has always tried to look as glamorous as she could.  At 53, when she had a her stroke, she was still turning heads and looking very sexy.  I purchase her all the new perfumes and anything she may have seen on TV that she may want.  I love my wife very much and want to make her as happy as I can while I have her.

Because of her situation, I thought that buying this product would help her put make up on again as she can not hold the compact (foundation) and apply the foundation to her face at the same time.  It generally takes two hands or you have to tape the foundation compact to the counter as it moves when you wipe the applicator on the powder.

I purchased it as more of a gimick make up kit she could try..  As advertized, i thought, 29.95, why not.  I ended up upgrading the system for 10 dollars and getting her a few more items just to make the gift more exciting.

We tried to use the system, but she was not as impressed as I had hopped.  Not at any fault of Luminess.  She is just not interested in putting make-up anymore.  She figures no one is looking at her anymore anyways.  She says that they only look because she is in a wheelchair.  So, I put it away and did not thing anything else.

Had I known that the amount was going to be $400.00 for a system that my wife may like or may not, I would not have purchased it.

Although I still maintain that I did not notice at any time that the cost was $400.00 for the compressor, I take full responsibility for my purchase.  I think that Luminess should advertise it clearly on TV or on the website that the cost of the machine is far more then ASSUMED.  Before completing the purchase, have the itemized payment of 69 x 5 clearly listed and have a check mark option to make sure it is understood.

My posting of this rippoff report was inappropriate and should not have taken it out on Luminess.  I should make sure to read the fine print.  Same thing happened to me when I purchased Proactive and I will never do that again.

Luminess has emailed me personally and we have come to an understanding and agree with them that I should be more careful when purchasing items online.

Alan

There are many similar product advertising out there that has similar tactic to this one -- has a fine print for 'installment'. Whenever you buy anything online or from TV advertisment, be sure to carefully read everything before you even enter the payment information. This is what these type of business expects you to miss the info, and you would end up paying the price (while they are happily taking your money)...
