A young woman named, Shelly Johnson, came to my door stating that she was solicitating for her high school software team selling magazines for a trip to Hawaii.  She also stated proceeds would benefit St. Jude's Hospital for Children and our military troops.  She said she lived in the next block over and that her mother walked her black lab every day.  She was convincing and had answers to all my questions, but after I wrote a post-dated check for almost $200, she gave me receipts that said they were not affiliated with charities, but only after I paid and she was out the door.  This took place on Sept 2, 2010 in El Lago, TX.  As soon as she left I became concerned due to the high costs of the magazines.  I looked this company up on the web and discovered it was a SCAM.

WHERE??

AUTHOR: Jake/ Godi/ You know me - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, August 20, 2012

where am i flip floppin?? or bait and switchin or slippin sliding or what ever weak metophor youve came up with now, yeah my first posed i glorified it as hard work, cuz i was just off the road, and it was hard work. all this website is, at the end of the day, is a place for disgruntled consumers to post there experience and have people rebutal with their "matter of opinion." Now my opinion is that if someone can charm you into buying a magazine (with no lying about being a neighbor, playing a sport or anything of that nature) There is no scam or swendling in that transaction. the only thing shameful is a bunch of "grown folks" nit picking for holes in my"personal opinion" because theyre salty about getting wacked out of a couple hundred dollars, dont confuse yourself

Don't Think You Are

AUTHOR: Kesha - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, August 19, 2012

You've attempted to shift your position after getting snared in your own words.  You've attempted to defend the actions of these people, then claim to just offer advice.  You've idolized these "kids" and placed them on a pedestal.  You're cherry picking your rebuttals and a doing the old slip and slide routine. These are your words:

Stop Your Crying

Just like these agents here I learned this canvas from a weak a*s agent who couldn't cut it with a NCA canvas. Neighbor canvas is just  easier.... Next time buy a magazine not to help the troops or the children's hospital, or a drug problem which is funny CUZ YOUR NOT ALOUD TO DO DRUGS ON CREW!! EXCEPT A BIT OF WEED AND EVEN THEN the boss hates
weed smokers and would never allow it at work. But buy a magazine because that little "scammer" your looking at eat, sleeps, and breathes the hustle. That kid works harder than you have or ever will in your entire life. 6 days a week 12hrs a day if not more, its cause of people like him or her that keep this country moving forward. I got off the road and roofed houses for a yr in the summer in Phoenix Arizona from 5am to 2pm, cause it got so hot the shingles melted, and it was a cake walk compared to selling mags. So the next time an agent knocks on your door and runs a canvas, listen to it, no matter how goofy it is and buy a
d**n magazine, because its because of go getters like that, that make this country great.

Shameful!

POSTED: Saturday, August 18, 2012

no longer working with or for a magazine company and wrote the first comment a year off the road. im sure when you politley declined they pushed a little more and just left to the next house. im done argueing blame whoever you want, at the end of the day the only person at fault is the kid who runs a bogus sports canvas. if you get the national cash awards canvas, buy a magazine, its the truth. Or dont just stop crying bout it on the internet "mate"

I read your column and the replies.  I was lucky and looked into this website while the "scammer" was outside.  I was polite and declined, but it is obvious you are an employee or still associated with this group.  You seem to be in agreement with what they do.  You have endorsed what these people are doing and you are pointing the finger at the client.  Your position is:  It's the buyer's fault, not the "scammer".  Yes, you are missing the point and you have attacked people to defend your position.

Cheers

ok buddy

AUTHOR: Jake/ Godi/ You know me - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, August 11, 2012

Alright buddy, we all done now? you feel cool now? Really stuck it to the guy trying to help you from getting ripped off, AGAIN. In refrence to grammer, it was more of a comment on your need to use big words to make up for the lack of something to say.( I'll admit my grammer is terrible if you havent notice) But i think your missing the point here. I'm not saying dont trust anyone, but dont be a retard and give a $200 check to someone who says their your neighbor and youve never seen before.

Now once again i must say this seems like a common "sence" issue correct? am i the only one who gets this? Put your over compensating ego to the side for two seconds and take this message for what it is, information. Im not trying to make fun of you, or insult you but your making it incredibly difficult. I would like to appoligize if i hurt your integrity to the point of you getting deffinsive. Please dont take this as a put down its just a response to the tone of your message in your previous post. Dont trust anyone "asking you for money" and have a good day sir.

Sense of Direction is misguided

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, August 09, 2012

I'm starting to see things from your perspective.  People are liars and don't trust anyone.  Okay, got it.  Oh, if you're going to nail someone for their use of grammar and spelling you really need to look in the mirror.  The word is "sense" and your punctuation is incorrect.   How do politics come into play in this forum.  Interesting you should make a comment about the kid who looked thirty.  This little hint now tells me who you are.

You should be a politician.  I wish you the best of luck in your future career and hope you can avoid  jail.

So You are Justifying Deceptive Tactics

AUTHOR: Jim - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, August 04, 2012

Maybe it's my warped sense of caring and compassion, but your comments are inflammatory.  You are justifying deceptive tactics and lying to convince someone that's it's okay.  If this is your mentality, then following your train of thought it's okay to start fires because it keeps firemen employed; it's okay to assault people because it keeps police employed; it's okay to commit crimes because it puts money in a pocket and promotes the economy.

Once you go down this path, where does it end?

Stop Your Crying

AUTHOR: Jake/ Godi/ You know me - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 04, 2011

I know all of yall and you know me except mister or miss Jones and first and for most, use a little common sense next time anybody comes to your door saying they play soft ball (and they smell like cigarettes) and they're your neighbor (never seen them before) AND THEY WANT MONEY!! All I'm saying is use a little common sense don't act sooo surprised. Now as far as brain washing goes??? For real... For real.... Now we both know that we've all sat in the same morning meeting or check in and have been told if not thousands of times maybe millions of times DON'T RUN A NEIGHBOR CANVAS!!! Don't have these agents fool you, no one is hoaxed into lying, or given a magic potion to lie, this is all on the responsibility of the agent, in fact you will never hear a neighbor canvas from any of the management. I used to work with them too

AUTHOR: CASS from WA - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 14, 2010

I think this whole thing is hilarious. I worked with Shelly and the girl who also commented on this. Everything is true but its not our fault just like she said. They promise us big things and dont deliver. They give you $500 just for signing up and every other person you higher they give you $100. It is a scam, Ive sent 100s of magazines to my parents house and have not received any magazines. Its bull s**t. The owners come off as your friends. Theyre not. They buy drugs by the pounds and sell it to the kids. And if you people are dumb enough to hand us hundreds of dollars you better believe were gonna take it. And we love you even more when you hand us $50 bills and $100 bills. thats amazing but it doesnt always go towards magazines. Most people smoke a pack a day and waste all the money you give them on food and drugs. i chose starbucks. :) anyways you people shouldnt be dumb. just hand them $5 s**t maybe $10 and tell them to leave. but watch your car most people spit on them...

Ex-employee of Majestic Sales

AUTHOR: CAH of OR - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2010

I recently left the road. I was working with Majestic Sales LLC Clearing business through Marquis Fullfillment Agency. I know the girl "Shelly" that you speak of. Short, Black hair, Thin, Wears black eye makeup, appears to be some sort of Hispanic race. She is a good person at heart. Just like most of the kids she works with Shelly has had a lot of problems in the past which lead them to want to get away and work for the magazine crew. Its SOFTBALL by the way. Not Software. Just shows how well you were listening when you gave her the money. Did you ever think that its just as much your fault that you were "scammed"? Ever think "Maybe I should wait until she has the product to show me at the door"? No, you didnt. She was doing what she was trained to do. You should be looking at the people who own the company. Denise and Tino Hillery. They are the ones who push them to say what they say because the truth sounds less believable anymore. That girl is in a contest to get 20,000 points to win a trip OR a thousand dollars CASH. I have seen that thousand dollars and I get 50+ magazines a month due to the "Troops overseas" canvas. No, your right, the whole things a lie. But those magazines go somewhere, they go to the people homes that you bought them from because 90% of the people we talk to DONT WANT MAGAZINES but those kids have to make money somehow. A lot of the reason they leave is to get away from drugs, abuse, unhealthy relationships, and most of all HOMELESSNESS. Those people pull those kids off the streets, give them a place to sleep and money to eat on. Yes, they teach them how to lie, how to decieve, basically how to GET WHAT THEY WANT, which is YOUR money. So maybe next time, when someone comes to your door. Dont give them a check for $51. Hand them a small amount and tell them to keep it, tell them you know what they are doing and won't help the company but you will help them.
