I have been a "secret shopper" under contract for Market Force for about 2 years.  I originally signed on as a contracted shopper to see what it was all about, but actually enjoyed going to different places and submitting information and opinions about the various assignments.

Recently I went to a restaurant to evaluate both the drive-thru and walk-in services.  I discovered that I did not receive all the items asked for at the drive-thru after I had parked and was going to evaluate the walk-in component.  There was no way for me to obtain the additional food without divulging that I was a "secret shopper".  Instead of lying on my evaluation, I explained the situation (there are places to do that).  The company flatly told me via email that my assignment was "Invalid", and I would not be reimbursed.  It was not a lot of money, but there are principles involved.

I responded to the email stating that it seemed that they were encouraging me to "lie" about my assignments in order to be paid.  (Be aware that they only pay $7.50 for about 45 minutes of work, and do not reimburse for travel costs or travel time).  Instead of continuing the debate, they flatly told me that all my scheduled assignments (I had 3 scheduled in the next week) would be cancelled and I would not be issued more.

****Be careful working with this company.  Remember, honesty is NOT the best policy with them.  If you need to be untruthful in order to obtain reimbursement, that is your best option.****  I wonder how the main companies that use their information would feel if they knew that their data could be (and likely is) tainted.  These include McDonalds, Sonic, and Five Guys.
