My husband and I attended a John Gray seminar in 2008. It made such a positive difference in our lives. When we heard John had started an executive training program, we were excited to see if they could make a difference in our small chain of regional banks here. The only difference they made was to our bottom line, in the negative direction.
We first spoke to Rich Bernstein at Mars Venus headquarters in Las Vegas. After a series of calls, he sold us a 2day gender training for our staff of 218 employees. I should have trusted my intuition because the whole experience felt sleazy. But since John Gray had helped me so much in the past, I figured this group could too.

The training fell far short however. The trainer made blanket assumptions about men and women in an office setting. They ran through the typical sales cycle and handed out materials that looked over 10 years old. One of the graphs they showed on their projector included the name of another training company at the bottom!
The trainer was there to teach my team how to sell better but the entire program fell far short of our expectations. By the end of the first day, I knew I had made a mistake hiring them. I called Rich to cancel the second day because it was more worth for my team to be back in the office than in his classroom. He had promised me a 100% guarantee if we weren't satisfied. But when I told him it was falling short of our expectations, he told me the second day was the "meat of the training". I told him we were bankers, not butchers and would like a refund. He convinced me to let him keep half of their fee to pay his trainer but promised to refund us the rest.

3 months have passed and he will not return my calls or emails. I have given up at this point ever seeing it again, so I am posting here to warn the rest of you. BEWARE

still waiting for a refund to this miserable gender training

AUTHOR: Concerned Client of Mars Venus Coac - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, August 27, 2012

it's been 5 months and no word from Rich Bernstein or Mars Venus Coaching about my partial refund. Except from his lawyer, who acknowledged my dissatisfaction with the training program in a private letter but "questioned" its validity in my public post here.  i ignored her and, funny, havent heard from her since. I have a feeling she doesnt work for Rich Bernstein anymore. He probably stopped paying her like the rest of his lawyers that have quit when they realized he wasn't worth defending: always guilty but never pays. after I read about him, it's sad he hasn't been sent to jail for life by now. Beware victims #355 and #356 - you are next!

Mars Venus Executive Training Beware of the Pro-bono Professional Coaching Services

AUTHOR: TC - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 25, 2012

Warning this company may try and contact you and offer Pro-Bono Coaching or even a FREE one time coaching session. If this happens run as fast as you can if you want to protect your companies name and image. With some due diligence it is easy to uncover the real backgrounds of several of the key executives and trainers which include felony arrests and convictions for securities fraud, identity theft even attempting to have sex with a minor just to name a few.

They are now preying on companies to endorse them in lieu of offering a free coaching session. The American Red Cross made the mistake of falling for this scam and are finding it impossible to get these scoundrels to cease using their company name in print and media all over the internet promoting this scam. The American Red Cross even posted a letter on this site that the relationship was severed and they never had a professional relationship with Mars Venus Executive Training and never paid them a cent. The link is below.

Consultant was not a Red Cross employee; relationship was severed

I surely don't want my company associated in any way, shape or form with convicted felons like this team or endorsing this scam. Another big problem I have with this organization is that the CEO Rich Bernstein according to the terms of his probation which are posted online state very clearly that he is to inform anyone that hires him of his criminal record. I never got the memo and I don't think anyone else does either. I am thankful for the internet and that the info was easy to uncover once I knew where to look.

Assly Sayyar defends convicted felon Rich Bernstein for money

AUTHOR: Concerned Client of Mars Venus Coac - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 07, 2012

Wait, THE Assly Sayyar ? Have you become "the lawyer you always wanted to be" ? Defending criminals with felony convictions ? Makes sense you would work with Mr. Richard Bernstein . After researching him, I see he has burned through so many lawyers that he is forced to take whatever he can get. My advice to you is to get paid before you start working for him. I doubt he will be your client by this time next year.

hmmmm, I'm not even sure you are a lawyer. Your Amazon reviews sound like you may still be in high school?

Solo by Choice 2011-2012: How to Be the Lawyer You Always Wanted to Be (Career Resources for a Life in the Law)

"A practical "first read" primer to get you thoughts organized." - Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA)  November 30, 2011

I just started considering opening my own firm and going solo after quite a few years of medium firm private practice. I never though of solo practice as something I would ever want to do-- thinking it very daunting and more stressful than straight employment in a larger firm. However, after speaking with other colleagues who had made the transition, I grew more comfortable with the idea. But where to start?  How to keep from forgetting something? I do not want to start only to  fold a few years later as my expenses get away from me (a real possibility in this new economy). I didn't want to start haphazardly or spend money on something I really didn't need and forget to invest in  something I did need. I want to be organized and in control right from the start as much as one can be with a new business. The other books lawyers and friends of mine swore by as being the "must have book" for anyone who wants to fly solo seemed dated or out of print. I wanted a "first read" book that was as current as it gets, that considers today's current economic climate as well as considers the growth of the internet, technology, virtual spaces, and social media as options and  factors to consider. I can say that as a up to date primer, as the initial book you buy when you have no idea how to begin, THIS IS THE "FIRST READ" BOOK FOR ME.

The tasks ahead seemed huge-- this book put things in a more manageable perspective. As a person generally adverse to taking personal risks without ensuring as much financial security as possible (and who isn't in this economy?) this book provides an up to date, easy to read, topically organized outline of what you need to think of and plan for before you take the plunge. It is well  organized, taking you through several key sections in its table of  contents: (1) "The Decision" - the pros and cons of deciding to go out on your own; (2) "Planning the Launch" -setting out preliminary business and legal steps before you hang out your shingle (and the first section I read which helped me tremendously); (3) "The Practice" -giving very helpful practice pointers as you start and grow your business and client base; (4)"Solo Marketing" - outlining marketing in today's modern world (no dated information that I can see but I admit I am not tech savvy); and (5) "Solos in Transition" with some great Q/A sections and comments from attorneys who have made the leap in real life. It is very easy to pick up this book and just skim through it or jump ahead to a particular chapter for general ideas before reading it cover to cover. It helped me consider things that I didn't even realize were issues and options. I especially liked how with a lot of sections it very clearly states the
PROS and CONS for you to consider right from the outset. It helps me organize my thoughts and prioritize what areas I still need to research further. It does not provide check lists per se, I still need to create my own "to do" lists, but it helps make the task more manageable. I also appreciate that it is highly aware of ethical and legal issues even as it provides you an organized summary of the practical decisions you need to make in opening and running as solo firm.

The book's tone is frank, open, and not condescending. There is a lot of practical advice and dispelling of rumors. There are useful quotes and anecdotes. It offers objective advice and takes time to remind the reader of possible pitfalls as well as alternatives or non traditional business solutions. It will still require however a great deal of other research and time pricing out options before I make certain decisions, but the book provides you with a framework to make those decisions as you price out your options in starting and then running your future firm. I was a bit
disappointed that there wasn't a comprehensive source list or bibliography of other print and electronic sources in this text. I do note that there is a companion book to this one on Amazon which I have not yet purchased which may fill in those gaps.

I will say I probably will invest in other books focusing on particular areas of practice or business to gain more in depth specialized information, but as a comprehensive starting point, this resource fit my needs, my style and provides critical up to date information of options, issues, pros, cons, and concerns in today's market. This is a great first and foundational resource to read at if you are considering solo practice for the very first time.

BABOR Perfect Combination Day Cream

"Great product which is well worth the price" - Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA) , November 25, 2007

This product was reccomended to me by the woman who does my facials.  Her salon only uses Babor and I loved how my skin felt after a facial. After using Babor, every other cream and lotion felt like I was covering my skin with a sticky layer. After using this Day creme, your skin feels like you've just had a facial; clear, baby soft, and fully mositurized. If you have combination dry and oily skin this is the best Babor product to have. Hate the tight feeling of your skin after you put your lotion on? Not with this product. Hate how when you put your lotion on in the morning, your face is so shiney and oily that even makeup can't hide it? Not with this product. I highly reccomend it.

Just FYI, use a q-tip to take out a dolop of the product to put on your face. Don't use fingers; that way you keep the product untainted and at its best.

My Hero - Season Two

"Hillarious" - Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA) , August 19, 2007

George Sunday is really a Superhero from the planet Ultron. This sitcom follows his adventures with his girlfriend trying to understand earth culture and customers. George is curious and innocent and so very funny. A great britcom for your collection.

Pride and Prejudice (BBC Miniseries)
The Definitive Version of Pride and Prejudice, August 19, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I owe them all; don't get me wrong. I own the A&E version, the new version with Keira Knightly, and the original 1980 BBC version. I have to say that the very best version, the truest to Jane Austen's vision, the most perfectly cast film version is this version, the 1980 BBC Version. Yes, Colin Firth in a wet shirt is a sight to behold. Yes, Dame Judy Dench as Lady Catherine is a pleasure. However, both versions fall entirely short when faced with the BBC version. In the BBC Version, Darcy and Elizabeth are perfectly cast. Mrs. Bennet deserves an Oscar for her great attack of "nerves." This is the very best version. Yes,. Buy and enjoy the others, but YOU MUST GET THIS AS WELL. You won't regret it. - Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA)

"A great little makup organizer" Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA), August 5, 2007

When travelling or needing to keep just your essentials clean and neat and easily accessible, this is the case for you. After brousing through all of Sephora's myraid cases and totes, some on line and some in store, I found this to be the most practicable for light essential travel. It has four spaces to place make up brushes (I would prefer more but oh well). It also has one mesh bag that can hold various compacts and brushes. What I really like about this bag is that its clasp is velcro and adjustible so that you are not straining to close the bag when full. Also great is that the center black zipped pouch is entirely attached with velcro and can be removed to make a seperate clutch make up bag. This makes this product two cases in one! The center pouch also contains an interior zipped pouch in which you can store more brushes, lipsticks, jewlerey and other items. A great bag
for light travel and to organize the odds and ends that usually float messily in larger makeup travel kits. A must have.

Avatar The Last Airbender - Book 1 Water, Vol. 5

"Exciting Cartoon that kids, teens, and adults can love" Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA), September 16, 2006

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a great cartoon. While it may appear to be a "anime" type cartoon at first glance, it is in fact made entirely in the US, and is based on Chinese Martial Arts. The character voices are engaging and believable. The plot is not too outlandish and it is a cartoon that is actually telling a story, a new chapter with each episode.

The best thing that I like about the show is that the main character, Aang, the Avatar, is not a hero who is without flaws and is ultra powerful. Aang is a 12 year old who loves to play games, and
visit exotic locals to see and capture strange animals. He is a goofy kid who is growing into the world's most important role: that of Avatar. He is not angst ridden nor is he fool hearted. He is a normal boy that all ages can relate to, not only boys but girls as well. No matter what the markerters say, the "Target audience" for this show extends to much more than boys, but to girls, teens, and even adults.
Another great thing about this series is that if you are familiar with Kung Fu, and other Chinese martial arts, you will realize that this cartoon is ACCURATE. Water benders use traditional tai chi moves. Fire benders use northern shaolin kung fu to manipulate fire. Earth benders use a more southern tradition of kung fu and Air benders use bagwa, a flexible form of martial arts. Those that are interested in Kung fu and other Chinese martial arts will enjoy a cartoon that IS ACTUALLY BASED ON TRADIONAL FORMS AND MYTHOLOGY AND HISTORY. A story rooted in reality is
all the more enjoyable.

I love this show and the episodes are very re-watchable and are worth owning and watching again and again.

Feet of Clay
by Terry Pratchett

"Mwhahahahahaha!" Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA), August 22, 2001

Of all the multitude of Discworld Novels the ones about the City Watch of Ankh-Morpork are the funniest. The third book about our intrepid group of coppers filled with Pratchett's usual side splitting witticisms, hillarious footnotes, and deep satire and sarcasam. If you liked Douglas Adams but got confused by "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" Try Discworld novels and enjoy!

"War! What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING," Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA) August 21, 2001

Jingo is the fourth of the books about Commander Sam Vimes the too sober head of the City Nightwatch, Captain Carrot the heir to the throne and adopted dwarf, Corporal Nobby Nobbs who carries a note with him claiming that he is, in fact, a member of the human species, and Sgnt Colon who is, well, one of life's sargents. Joined by various trolls, dwarfs, and undead people they as policemen are out to stop crime, the crime of war. Hillarious like all of the Discworld Novels and a must have!

Cle De Peau Beaute Silky Cream Foundation BF10

"Flawless liquid foundation," Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA) April 12, 2008

I've never used liquid or creme foundation before. However, the mineral makeup I was using with all the brushing and buffing was tearing up my skin and making it rough and bumpy to the touch. I wanted something that went on smooth and this was reccomended by my aesthetician. It is not a cheap product (Shideko also made by the same company is cheapter) but the barest dab smoothed over your face can give great coverage. I  like this makeup because it is not heavy, but still smooths over  blemishes and erases redness without feeling like you are wearing a  stiff mask. This is perfect for people who like anywhere from the barest touch of makeup to full on coverage. You can put it on as light or as  heavy as you want just using your fingertips. I would also purchase the press or loose powder with this product to provide a final setting  layer and to use for touch ups during the day. This is a long lasting  makeup that holds thorughout the day and because you need only a little  amount to provide foundation for the entire face, and the product can  last months. More importantly, unlike mineral makeup, it does not  damage my skin or make it rough or dry. A good investment and a good  solid foundation for a flawless face.

"A quick fix to reducing dark circles," Assly Sayyar (Nevada, USA) August 10, 2008

So I bought these to try them out because I like other Babor products. I was going out and decided to try them because they claim to work in  10-15 minutes. They were easy to use and I could walk around the house  with the patches under my eyes letting them do their thing. After about 15 minutes I peeled them off and saw a noticble reduction to under eye  bags and darkness. It was like getting an instant spa treatment for the  eyes. I now use them before any big night out. A great buy.
