Can anyone out there match this one? I recently went to Mcdonalds in my area and purchsed 3 happy meals. My dughter ate the chicken Mcnuggets and then put her hand back in the box to get her fries...she screamed hysterically that there wer gloves in her box. When she handed me the box, there were 2 used rubber gloves (half turned inside-out)in the box along with the fries and a Mickey Mouse toy of some sort!!! Manager admits to viewing this on video tape offering 30 minutes of conversation with me over the phone. District manager is dismissing this saying they get ongoing false accusations like this and do no believe anything like this could or would have happended! Looking to pursue this for the sake of future customers. Imagine what might have been if a toddler found the gloves and put them in his/her mouth? I am appauled that they refuse to take any responsibilty for this public health issue!!!!!!!!!

No Jill, you are the fool

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 21, 2005

Nobody is denying that gloves in food is right.

What we are ridiculing you for is your TEENAGER'S reaction, but judging by your responses, we now know why your teenage daughter has issues. It's because you are mentally unstable. So, one of 2 things happened: Either your daughter inherited some of your bad genes, or, you have raised her to be afraid of everything, because you are afraid of everything.

I feel sorry for your daughter, having a mother like you. I hope you haven't damaged her so badly that she won't be able to lead a normal life when she finally get's out of the house and your mentally unstable claws! Seek help before you ruin your kids' lives! And, for the love of God, EAT AT HOME FROM NOW ON!

you're pathetic excuse for attention is sickening. This is a perfect example of a moutain out of a mole hill.

We're all uneducated tards!

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 20, 2005

YAY! Those of us here who have children who don't "scream hysterically" at minor annoyances are all uneducated tards. YAY! Those of us who have raised our children to adulthood without them being emotionally scarred by life's little annoyances are all tards.

But, those of us who say they are forwarding a post to their friends or say they find the gloves offensive are brilliant scholars. YAY!

Ted Kennedy is "lucky", like me. YAY! Wait, I never murdered a pregnant mistress and called my attorney instead of rescuers, so my political career would be unscathed. John Kerry is "lucky", too. Wait, no, he's just a scumbag, who preys upon rich widows. In any other state, these two Jabronies would be in prison forever or living in a shelter.

As for the reason babies cry...that's the easiest to answer. They cry because that's ALL they can do. The vocal chords are not fully developed and crying out is the only way they can communicate. They cry for food, pain, heat, cold, everything. This does not indicate anything more than basic instinct, not emotion or fear. Children have no fears. They are taught by the parents to fear certain things. Maybe Jill never did that for her daughter.

Maybe that's why she "screams hysterically" when she sees gloves.

POSTED: Thursday, October 20, 2005

Jill - I noticed, by it's glaring absence, the exact total you extracted from McDonalds for the GREAT benefit of the Katrina victims. I donated hundreds. That's in addition to all my standard monthly donations to Christian Childrens Fund, Operation Smile and the Alabama/Birmingham Chapter of Association for Retarded Citizens. I'm a customer service rep so you'd be pretty petty to equate anywhere NEAR a Kennedy, or even high middle class.

I notice you have such vitriol for so many. I have been quiet cause I've been having such a ball watching others speak to you FOR ME.

As for my friends, they are as many as the sands of all the deserts, and I know others whom you attempt to degrade also count as many as I do. Not all my friends bother with RipOff Reports, but that's cause not every one is an avid consumer rights fan, like I am.

Thanks for the entertainment!

Ken from Randolph,
Now we all know why rubber gloves are used in restaurants but I think you are forgetting a small clue here...the gloves were on someone's hands then put in with the food.....Don't misrepresent us Massachusetts folks as fools....

Marc...polygraphs are uselss in a court of law in Massachusetts but good thought.

Dan from "Somewhere," can't even be honest enought o give the actual town he lives in. Just the type of person who should be judging someone else's integrity!!!

Patrick from Arizona, I'm glad you agree that finding rubber gloves in your food is very bad. I was starting to wonder why so many people out there think this is the norm and ok???

Dave in Florida, Talk about ridiculous????what a fool you are!!!

Juliet and Peter Pony...Did you have luck hooking up??? Is that why you two have been so quiet...oh boy, what a visual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!oh yeah, Juliet, so much for all those friends of yours you told Christine in Woburn you had!!!!

Darlene from Billerica....bright minds think alike my friend!!!!

Krista from Georgia and Dee from Ohio, finally two folks (of course females) who can relate to real life!!!!

Robert from Florida, I think Mr. Kerry and Mr. Kennedy just got as lucky in life as you did. After all, you have a child that has no fears!!!!

Cyd in Nevada, you agree with Robert from Florida that children have lack of fear and that is what makes children do stuff we as adults would never attempt to do. You then added, babies are born with no fear and no emotions!! WOW my friend...how uneducated are you???? Babies are born with temperaments and isn't crying a sign of emotion??? Your poor girls, I feel bad for them. They will never be understood by you!!! Did your girls not cry either??? And poor Robert, he has no knowledge on the developmental stages of children the poor guy!!!! You two should get together and take a human growth and development class for the sake of your kids!!!!!

Funniest yet...Peter from Pony, Hello again big guy...did you say you were a "medical Specialist?????" Fancy name for hospital exterminator???? "ICK" Juliet might not like that!!!!

Bye for now folks.......

There is no arguing that this situation is disctinctly unappealing, and I would be looking for the manager myself... however...

arent these the very same gloves that the employee wore when making the burger? They have already been ALL over the burger, so what's the big deal?

I think an apology and a new meal is what's called for here, or a refund if you choose. In life you should pick your battles, this one just doesn't seemto be worth all the drama.

Just my humble opinion.

Can you pass a polygraph test?

AUTHOR: Marc - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 19, 2005

A lot of these incidents could be quickly resolved if all parties involved would simply consent to polygraph tests. If you're going to sue for big money, a polygraph would quickly prove your case in a civil suit, or at least influence all those involved in judging who is lying. I know some feel a polygraph can be beaten, but not everyone can do this.

AUTHOR: Darlene - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 19, 2005

I stand behind jill. i have received less than adequate food from this company and have not eaten there since. yes I also work in a hospital and calling me an idiot only shows your true ignorance. Gloves in anything is unacceptable. pure and simple. Make sure jill they make this right and never step foot into that place again. we all know that fast food places can be filthy, that they are supposed to be check by the boh. (board of health) they would be the ones i would be calling, because they would be in there in a heart beat!

If you people only knew what was in your food, you'd start a garden and go vegetarian

AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 07, 2005

Rat hairs. Rat feces. Bug remains. The list goes on and on.

All that's in there. Legally. There is a certain amount allowed by law.

Why is that? Because you can't get it all out. Bugs happen. Rats happen.

So, don't sit there and tell me about some germs on fast-food gloves. There was crap in that food long before it ever showed up at McDonald's back door.

Now, I'm not happy about this either. But, what can you do? I haven't died or gotten seriously sick from my food yet. So, I'm not going to sit here and worry over a few rat hairs in my cereal.

Reasonably clean is the best you can ever hope for.

Besides, you're an idiot if you think that fast-food employees aren't given at least some basic instruction in food handling and food sanitation. Why do you think the employees have thermometers lying around? They're not doing rectal temperatures with them, that's for sure.

Fast-food restaurants do a decent job, considering everything they have to work with. If I were you, I'd be far more worried about where the meat came from before it hit McDonalds. Remember the e-coli problem? That didn't come from a sneeze or rubber gloves.

Keep problems in their proper perspective. Worry about the things that have caused illness before or are likely to cause harm now. Rubber gloves and sneezing employees are not in that category.

Germs ..

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 07, 2005

If you work in a hospital, you would know that fast food restaurants are a haven for germs ... not just those restaurants who leave a few used McRubbers here and there. Look at who cooks the food at such places ... minimally trained, uneducated folks who likely know nothing about sanitation and food safety. You may not find a tasty McRubber in your "Happy Meal" at a so-called "good" establishment; however, you have no way of knowing if Senor Pickle was wearing gloves while making your trible-decker gut-busting burger-patty, or if Mister Donkey sneezed microscopic snot particles all over your fat-laden fried chicken salad! That is why I, as a medical specialist myself, NEVER eat at fast food establishments as a general rule!

POSTED: Saturday, September 24, 2005

Jill, I find it funny how you have been ignoring the question about the video tape. Perhaps there is no video tape? Perhaps you're one of those people who try to get rich quick by scaming large corporations?

I hardly think that you were ripped off. If this happened you would have gotten a copy of the tape from the manager, or tried to anyway, and you would not have over exagerated the whole story.

I'd be curious to here from the manager and the DM to find out exactly what happened here. My guess is that your fries were could and you wanted to pitch a fit.

At worst, this is a mistake. People are always going to make mistakes. I'm not sure what this woman wants done to stop that from happening.

AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, September 17, 2005

When you get an accusation like this, you first look at the credibility of the accuser.

Her update said several things that provide an insight into her personality.

you sure are a selfish person
you obviously don't care about the health and welfare of the children
keep your uneducated mouth shut
idiot for the rest of your life

What do you people get from that? I take those comments to mean that she is a mean, angry person who lashes out at others, possibly uncontrollably.

Regardless of her personality, this seems to be a clear case of a mistake. Overworked, underpaid kids working a thankless job. Add that together. What do you get?

Mistakes like this.

Yes, used gloves are gross. Will anyone die? Probably not. But, I don't see this as a case of a food prep going out of their way to contaminate anyone's food on purpose.

Normal people make mistakes. It happens. When those people are food preparers or brain surgeons, their can be consequences.

Unfortunately, all the responsibility in the world will never change human behavior.

I'm not sure what remedy this woman intends to pursue here.

But, as soon as I send this, I'll be going over to the local McDonald's to get some food. They got the new chicken sandwiches out.

I'm not going to let a rubber glove mistake that happened clear across the country keep me from eating food that I like.

Good advice about the video tape. BUT ... it's very hard for McDonald's to produce a video tape of something that never happened. If this situation really happened as this mentally ill woman claims it did, she would be discussing this with legal counsel and not on a message-board website. People like her thrive on getting attention from others, which appears to be more important to her than her prized "McRubbers."

One time when I was 20 I opened a McDonald's Big Mac and saw an alien's head where the burger was supposed to be. It was a traumatic experience for me, because the alien looked just like my best friend's sister's best friend's aunt's cousins' (twice removed) grandmother, who I was madly in love with. Sure, she was 78, but what a fox, well, ok, she did look like an alien, but a foxy alien.

SO anyway, after I ate the alien-burger, I started hallucinating, now I don't know if it was because of the burger or the 26 oz's of crack I did 2 hours before, but it was very upsetting. I thought I ate the grandmother, (no pun intended), so I started screaming and throwing up all over the place and then everyone in the restaurant started barfing, it was a total nightmare. The cashier gave me a refund, but said next time not to eat the toy in the happy meal... Boy did I feel like a moron, it was E.T. all along!! I thought the burger was a little crunchy..

If you think that story is rediculous, SO IS THE POSTING! Jeeze lady, seek help for you and your daughter!

A possible theory for the "hysterical screaming".

AUTHOR: Patrick - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2005

Actually, I have two theories.

First, from Jill's report, it seems that Jill's daughter stuck her hand into the Happy Meal box without looking, expecting to touch fries (remember, she had already eaten the Nuggets). Instead, she touched the used rubber gloves. That must have come at quite a surprise to the daughter, and it seems she responded accordingly.

Second, it could be that Jill is exaggerating her daughter's reaction to give the report a little more drama.

I still lean towards the first one.

I agree with the supporters. Finding a dirty used pair of gloves in your food is very bad. It does not matter how a person reacted to that situation. Also, the fact that McD's was not willing to believe the customer says a lot for that franchise/district.

I stand by my previous statement, the place would be boycotted by me.

Were you ripped off?

AUTHOR: Cyd - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2005

Jill, I want to clearify my position. I believe that the incident you described DID happen. You ordered a Happy Meal and got gloves in the meal which made the meal inedible by most people's standards. McDonalds ripped you off by not providing the meal you ordered.

My previous comments were to point out that I believe the way you responded to the problem significantly affected the DM's decision to label this a false accusation and to not offer any compensation for this rip-off. Your report here provides some very telling clues as to how you most likely handled the situation.

You come across as a fairly intelligent woman (spelling excluded). Being such, you knew that by carefully selecting your words you could imply a scenario that differed from reality without lying. The majority of the people that responded assumed "the Child" was younger. Your use of the word "McRubbers" increased the shock value of the rip-off as most people associate the word "rubbers" with condoms (unless you are in the UK and thought she meant erasers) Clearly condoms would be even more disgusting than "rubber" gloves. A more appropriate title would have been "McDonald's rip-off. Used rubber gloves found in Happy Meal. McDonald's refuses to accept responsibility"

If your daughter was hysterical, there is a strong possibility that she learned this tyoe of response from you. Hysterics serve no real purpose except to elicit a lot of unnecessary attention.

The above behavior tends to make your story less believable, which I believe is why you did not receive a satisfactory response from McDonalds. Unfortunately you can't go back and change things. In the future you might try to approach the problem in a calm manner and describe the situation in a straight forward factual way. Your complaint will be taken more seriously.

McDonald's is still wrong and should compensate your for this unpleasant experience.

My suggestions, for what it's worth...

AUTHOR: Dee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2005

First, I have a teenaged daughter, who also orders the infamous "Happy Meal". There is no age limit on this meal, at least where I live. Secondly, last time I checked, kids are people and people are all different! Personally, if my daughter would have put her hand in a Happy Meal and found two rubber gloves, she would have screamed! Teenagers tend to be over-dramatic! I love how some of you "forget" what it's like to be a youngster!
Third, regardless of whether these were gloves, or whatever, this is unsanitary and completely unacceptable. My suggestion is to call the local health department where you live and register a complaint! That is part of what your tax $$$ go to!
Fourth, call McDonald's coporate office. Better yet, I personally would write a letter, sending it to McDonald's corp. h.q., one to the manager of the particular store you went to, and a copy to the local newspaper and television media outlets. Why not let them all in on it? That is what the media is for!
Lastly, I can sympathize with you on this, however, you can make it better for others, if that is really your intention. By talking to the health department you will basically "order" a investigation, and they will go inspect the facility. I don't know if you are asking for $$$, but personally, if that is the case, you should take that and donate it to the suffering hurricane victims in the south.
Just a suggestion.
Thanks for listening.

Parents teach more than fear

AUTHOR: Cyd - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2005

I agree with Robert. Babies are born with no fear and no emotion. These things are learned from those around them. Parents who over-react to situations in life teach their children to also over-react.

Screaming hysterically is an inappropriate and irrational response for a child of any age to this situation. If she did in fact scream hysterically, I would assume that someone close to this child has a tendency towards histrionics.

In this case the mother proved to be that person. The conversation with the manager should have taken only a few minutes to reach a resolution (i.e. refund the cost of the meals or free meals in the future. It took 30 minutes because the mother was most likely irrational and refused to accept approrpiate resolutions offered by the manager.

Don't get me wrong, I would be upset too if I found gloves in my food but I would not be hysterical. If this had happened to my girls when they were teens, they would not even hand me the box. They would have said "Hey, there are gloves in here....gross!" Then they would have gone to the counter themselves to report the problem in a calm manner.

Being irrational and exaggerating is counterproductive and tends to discredit complainant.

Ok I think a lot of you crazy people are getting away from the real issue, which is - something other than food was found in a Happy meal, whether it be for a baby, toddler, teenager, adult or senior citizen. Wearing rubber gloves does not stop nasty stuff from happening. How many times do we all see people wearing rubber gloves scratching their heads, wiping their noses etc. Its ABSOLUTELY disgusting, gloves or not! Also remember, Jill said that they were obviously used, I would of screamed also. Why do people scream when they see a spider or mouse, neither one will hurt you but it just freaks you out and your first instinct is to scream. If any of you know Jill like I know her, she DOESNT need the money. Like she said, she is just trying to make people aware that stuff like this happens. Also she works in the medical field and knows all the risks and precautions of spreading germs. Good for you Jill for making a statement and I did forward this to all my friends and hopefully it will get around. (for all you wise guys, I have a lot of friends)

Poor Jill...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2005

Apparently, you do not know anything about children. They are BORN WITHOUT FEAR. The parents teach them to be afraid of things. Lack of fear is what makes children do stuff we would never attempt as adults. So no, I do not have the first children born with no fears. As they grew up, why would they be afraid of a pair of gloves? If you can answer that simple question without going into hystrionics("screaming hysterically"), I shall pay attention. Are you "terrified" of gloves? Rubber? Some wierd fetish perhaps? You now say your child is a teenager, fine. I still refer to my 22 yr old as my child, so you will notice I don't argue with you about the semantics of that term. Why is your teenager "terrified" of rubber gloves to the point where she "screams hysterically"? I agree there must be some emotional issues here, or the big payoff if possible. As for MA women having a sense of humor, that is very true. How else do you explain John Kerry finding wives, or that murderer Ted Kennedy finding dates?

Whose side am I on?

AUTHOR: Timothy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 16, 2005

I thought I made it pretty clear whose side I was on. I'm kind of offended that my motives were called into question.

When my son was 17 he came across a glove on the school bus. I know I orginally said "toddler," but if you guys knew anything you would know that in Indiana we consider people to be toddlers until they are 25. Now he can't even look at buses. He has to take the train to work because he is so terrified that he might get on a bus and find another glove. The doctors say he may never be o.k. We even took him to a clinic where they would show him pictures of buses and then punch him in the groin. Even that didn't work.

So, yes, I know what a traumatic experience this can be. I just hope that your child is still able to eat happy meals.

As for McDonald's, I'm wondering if this isn't all a part of a bigger plan. I know that they routinely short people on McNuggets to beef up their profits. Maybe now they are also finding creative ways to dispose of their refuse so as to cut down on garbage disposal bills. I'm amazed at the horrible things they will do to turn a profit.

M-C in Arizona...Thanks but I am not sure if Peter would understand portion sizes in relation to fat and calories. (He's obviously not too intelligent!!)

Shelby..Please do not ask Peter what he has to say because no one cares. He obviously has no one else to talk to, poor thing!!!

Juliet...You and Peter ought to hook up..A scaredy cat who would not be phased by dirty rubber gloves in their food would make a good pair with someone like him. An idiot who might discard his condom in your lunch which would be his only way to get you to scream...Good relationship you might have. You should consider. What a thought, "ick"

Timothy...Whose side are you on anyway?

Troy...Ditto

As for my Big Smart Guy Pete...Sorry Pal, not sure how old you are but I think you are beyond help!!! What about the Gloves?

It's amazing to me the things people pick out of conversations and focus on.
Was it a daughter, teenager, Child or A Child.
Could this woman possibly be referring to her teenage daughter as a child?
I hope so, because if she called her an Adult, then she wouldn't be allowed to eat a HAPPY MEAL.
Did she "cry hysterically"? Was she "terrified", did she go "ick"? Did she refer to her WWPD(What Would Peter Do?)manual before responding.
WHO CARES? It was GROSS. End of Story.
I am choosing to believe Jill, more to the point I'm choosing not to assume she is doing this for financial motivations just because she is complaining about something. If you were sitting in a restaurant and the waiter served you a pair of gloves next to your Fillet Minon, would you say, "hey, no harm, at least it's not a bat".
Come on folks.
What about the Gloves?.God knows how many germs were on them.Eeuucchh
And who's the genius who tossed them in a HAPPY MEAL. Check you receipt Jill. Are you sure they didn't charge you extra for those?

Having managed my share of fast food establishments over the years, I can totally see this situation happening, and I go as far back as the stupid paper hats we had to wear at McD's (boy am I dating myself!)

Anyways, I think Jill is doing the right thing. I know that if I lived there, I certainly would not be going to this particular store any more because of the warning.

And I just have to add my 2 cents to Peter's comment:

"PS - And for the record you never stated in your original post that this was a "teenager" who found the mysterious "mcrubbers" in the happy meal - you said it was a "child." So make up your mind and get your story straight so we can all laugh about your next version of the story later!"

Peter, she also did not say "child". She said "daughter" (albeit misspelled). You have provided some comic relief on some these reports, but I'm afraid you are in the wrong here.

And besides, I know of several adults (my wife included) who buy Happy Meals themselves, usually because they are either not that hungry, or in most cases (like my wife), want to get the toy for their child. So a teenager, or even an adult, purchasing a Happy Meal is not an uncommon occurrence.

Your toddler "cried hysterically" when she found gloves in her happy meal? Oh puhlease ... Knowing how toddlers put anything and everything in their little mouths, it hardly makes sense that she would get freaked out over a pair of rubber gloves.

Also you do not need to pretend about the real reason you want to pursue this. It is not to benefit others. It is to pad your own pocket book a little thicker. People like you who try to gain financial benefit by drawing attention to such ridiculous situations NEVER win. Just look at the woman who tried to sue Wendy's for finding a finger in her chili. Enough said.

Furthermore, the manager talked to you for "30 minutes" about this incident? What on earth could have taken 30 minutes to discuss? Why couldn't you just let it go and move on with your life? (Well, we all know why .. see paragraph above.) But still, all you have to do is NEVER eat there again, and you won't risk the chance of this happening again.
