I rented a house form McKenna Property for 3 years, was a good tenant, paid my rent on time, gave adequate notice to move, and left the house clean and undamaged.

After 35 days I have still not received my security deposit refund of $1600 or any itemization. State laws states they have 30 days.

Jenni Mckenna is trying everything possible to avoid refunding anything. Her lastest is a blatant lie saying she has witnesses that say I had additional people leaving in the house. For 3 years it was my small dog and I.

So far she claims she is deducting $658.93 and waiting on invoices for damage to pool and heater, another lie.

State law states that if the deposit or itemization is not received within 30 days, they must refund the entire deposit, regardless of the condition of the property. They are also liable for an amount equal to the deposit.

I have reported her to Channel 13 news, Better Business Bureau and the Board of Realtors. I have also retained an Attorney.

It's greedy people like this that give Las Vegas a bad name.

Simply NOT true....

AUTHOR: Jenni McKenna - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, October 03, 2011

This tenant gave a notice to vacate the property on July 31, 2011. In her own letter she was very clear that she would be leaving the home on July 31, 2011. McKenna Property Management has, by law, 30 days to return any monies left over of the tenants security deposit. That would mean that the tenants security depsoit refund would need to be mailed out NO later than August 31, 2011.

The tenant received her refund on August 26th and cashed the check on August 26th, 2011. McKenna Property Management sent her the itemized security deposit transmittal along with her check to show where each and every penny was spent for cleaning up the home.

Yes, this tenant has brought her claim to the Better Bussiness Bureau and they dismissed it. She has brought McKenna Property Management before the Real Estate Division and they have investigated to find that McKenna Property Management did not do anything illegal.

As for her claim that the home was undamaged.... the lease requires that a tenant professionally clean the carpets upon vacating. This was NOT done along with a jantiorial that was needed as well.

This is clearly a case where a tenant was not happy with what they recieved back from their security and is trying to find a way to cause problems.

Just Don't Move

AUTHOR: Rhonda - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, September 23, 2011

I agree that everything was great during the 3 years I lived there. If anything needed repaired it was taken care of in a quick and efficient manner.

My rent was always paid on time and the house was spotless during my tenancy and when I moved. During the walk through, Terry from Mckenna stated that she "did not see anything that needed my attention". Jenni Mckenna even sent a letter saying "they would miss me as a tenant and would give an outstanding letter of reference if I needed it".

The problems started after I moved. The main one was not refunding the deposit or submitting a transmittal within the 30 days allowed by state law. When I finally did get the transmittal and partial refund, Jenni has falsified the move out date. She also charged me for "stripped wiring" on a 15 year old pool heater, a pool light that had never worked and $95 for lightbulbs and a door stop. REALLY!

The Board of Realtors has opened an investigation against McKenna property.

Good luck when you move

Happy tenant of MCKenna Property MGT.

AUTHOR: Happy Tenent - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 22, 2011

I have been a tenant of McKenna for almost three years.  I have found them to be the most fair and ethical property management company ever.  When we have a problem or something is broken they respond with rapid speed.  I will say that if you pay your rent on time and keep the property as if you own it (i.e. clean, without damage act.) then you should and will get excellent service, but if you are always late, and damage the property then don't expect anything but what you give.  I'm not sure what the real reason they kept your deposit is, however I have never had any problems as you describe and being there 3 years Im sure I would have ran into  some form of this behavior you describe, but since I have not, I can only conclude that your were the cause of not receiving your deposit back.  This is a very big and reputable company and I dont think they need to keep you little deposit....it will not make or break them, however the damages tenants leave behind does.  Mckenna has came out within 24 hours to fix everything from my AC, Water heater, stove, garbage disposal, so i'm not so sure they would fake anything if they are always willing to repair thngs so swiftly. Of course as they saying goes everyone has their own opnion and sometime they evern believe thier lies are true.  Anyone reading this know that Mckenna is an EXCELLENT PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY...McKenna Property Management Team keep up the  EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!  IVY
