I visited the Meineke in Silverdale to get a brake job and an adjustment to the emergency brake and after the inspection they notified me of two bad brake cylinders as well as leaking bearing seals. They called me back to notify me that a bearing seal replacement was previously attempted whereby they believed that a set screw in the differential was drilled out and not able to be removed and ask that I come in and look. I agreed to the maintenance on the wheel bearing seals based on the understanding that they were leaking trusting that the technicians were competent. This was not the case. The "drilled out set screw" was actually a roll pin that retained a pin in place and the Wheel bearing seals were not leaking and was only a symptom of the leaking brake cylinder.  Base on the fact that the rear differential was going to have its oil changed they recommended to me that I conduct maintenance on all of the differentials.  Again, I agreed to this.  They called me later to tell me that the bearings seals for my axles were not leaking and they "saved me 200.00 dollars making the differential maintenance not necessary based on this finding.  The maintenance was doubly unnecessary based on the fact that I had just had the maintenance done at Jiffy Lube. I called back to contest this with Brian the assistant manager and he told me that it was recommended based on the manufacturers guidance on differential maintenance at intervals of 15,000 miles. To shorten the story up I got my Jeep back with the emergency brake still not adjusted and the unnecessary maintenance costing me about 450.00.

I brought the Jeep back the following day for them to finish the work by adjusting the emergency brake and when I got it back they had over tightened it to the point that the brake stayed engaged even with the brake handle fully lowered.  It seemed malicious but I took it back a third time and watched them adjust it out to the proper setting.  They attempted to make amends by offering me a "free" rear differential maintenance service, indicating that they expected me to come to them to pay for the other differential.  Incompetence or maliciousness, I don't care.  I will never go back to this place of business.  Of not: I was unable to locate this business in the Better Business Bureau website.
