As I have read these reports on Melaleuca and whether or not the case may be "MLM", a good company, bad company, product wise or employee ethics...I would like to ask ANY of these individuals, who are claiming that this IS in fact a "legit" company to work for, buy from, (etc) this: Why and HOW would you be able to claim this when the case is NOT whether items were sold, but the fact that I WAS CHARGED AND SENT THESE ITEMS AND KIT when I NEVER agreed to it and explained to the EXTREMELY pushy representative, that under my circumstances...I had not been able to look over and fully read what the MOM team was about.

I told her "No", which means "NOthing" according to Melaleuca/ their staff. I had just moved and was forced to move again, (although I did not feel I had to explain my reasons for not jumping into it quickly) however,I did & this did not matter. MONTHS later, I finally had the dust settle and being a "SINGLE MOM", the very people I feel Melaleuca aims for (look at statistics and see who usually raises the kids-single mothers. "We" are also right up there, leading as far as being the most in debt.) Gee, one might say...vulnerable? I think so.

There's a reason it's not called the DAD team, meaning their target is not men. Instead their "victims", and I say this because I am one- I'm not speaking of the women who feel they've gained something from this. I do feel that Mel. advertises to these women, knowingly & deceptively to promise them a feeling of "acceptance" and "bonding". Well, I bond with my money and I don't respond well when I find out, as I did when I spoke to "Kelly" at the 800 number...that there were charges made to my account but when they found out that I had NOT signed anything...they quit taking money out.

WOULD IT NOT SEEM ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL TO RETURN THE FUNDS? How in the world could one argue with THAT? YES, it was out of my moving, starting my own business on top of things, life in general, mail getting lost and BEING OVERWHELMED--AS MOST SINGLE MOTHERS ARE- that I did not catch these charges until recently. Regardless, I am not to blame for the way this was handled.

I would NEVER work for a company THAT OPERATES LIKE THIS. True, any business is going to have problems and people who are not happy completely. That's business. What is NOT business, is when people are saying the same things over and over..as I have read here...there is much truth to be said when the word FRAUD is mentioned. The truth comes out, period. The way this was handled was anything but honest. If and when I do get the funds returned, I'll be sure to report exactly that on this site. Until then, THE TRUTH REMAINS.

Sorry for the bad experience

AUTHOR: Lisa - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 04, 2004

I've been with the Mom Team for 3 months....and if you had looked at the Customer Agreement, you had signed for the back up order or what ever you had ordered. Not only that when the form was filled....you agreed to use the credit card or checking account to purchase the products.

If you didn't want it charged, then please don't give people your credit card number out and don't sign it either. That way you aren't authorizing Melaleuca to charge it. Also, I agree with the other person, you have a head and you could have said said no and you shouldn't have signed the agreement if you didn't want to do it.

Please take some responsibility and tell people without being rude instead of trying something and blaming others for something you don't like. Melaleuca does reimburse you for stuff if you didn't like it. I know....cause I had stuff returned and never had a problem with them.

You need some savvy, Girl!

AUTHOR: Trish - (Australia)

POSTED: Thursday, October 16, 2003

Hey Kary,
Sorry to hear about your bad experience! Boy there must be some really pushy, desperate people out there!

One thing that I can't understand is how did the Bank receive authorisation to take funds out of your account if you never signed anything? Unless you have a credit card or something? My bank WILL NOT take unauthorised (my signature) withdrawals from my account under any circumstances without my written consent. Even if Melaleuca had put in a submission for a funds request the BANK could not have acted without YOUR written permission. IF that's what happened and the bank had taken out unauthorised funds from my account I would be reporting MY BANK to the appropriate authorities and screaming blue murder on my local Television network decrying the action.

Even as a single mum you still have a brain and a are still a very capable person-start thinking of yourself that way and you will, in future, be able to tell pushy people where to get off.
Sincerely,

Melaleuca... a great company when presented properly

AUTHOR: Peggy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 24, 2003

I'm sorry that you may have encountered a situation with Melaleuca. Unfortunately, this team is only one of the many teams that this company has and it should not be a reflection of the entire company. I can truly say that not all teams act this way.

As a member of another team, I have nothing but high regards and respect for this company. Unless you have been able to fully try their products and appreciate how life changing they are, it is not fair to judge the entire company by the actions of so few. This truly is a remarkable first class company, and it is a shame that it was misrepresented to you.

Perhaps it was not explained to you in easy English terms, but the company does offer a 90-day money back guarantee, even if the item is empty.

When does the consumer take responsibility for his/her own actions? No one forced you to sign the agreement form and certainly no one obtained your banking information without your permission. I'm sure that your situation would have been resolved just by making one simple phone call to the company.

I think that if you had been more open minded about the company, the products, and the business, you might have found out what an exceptional company this really is. The list of creditentials are quite impressive, but it sounds like you didn't even get beyond the first page.

Everyone suffers personal problems in life, and it always seems that they are looking for someone else to take the blame for their own choices and behavior. I hope that you will find something that will satisfy your needs. Perhaps next time you will be more responsibe for your own actions before you disclose any of your personal banking information. And surely you will read, understand, and agree to the terms to which you are signing before you turn in a completed contract.

The mom team MLM or not

AUTHOR: Kent - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 15, 2003

It is a sad fact most MLM target women usually stay at home moms who need to make extra cash.
and they have allot of fine print to cover all of the under handed little tricks they pull. consumer responsibility my butt
you would almost have to be an attorney to catch some of the carefully worded catches in the contracts a lot of time its just this side of
legal and defiantly not moral!

Kary you defiantly have been consumer responsible by reporting this forcing you to buy a product or kit is a sure sign of we don't care as long as we get ours. a legit company would not force you to buy products you hadn't sold no company that wasnt counting on collecting funds this way would have ever entered it into there contracts, any time a work at home starts talking about points or credit quotes, to remain a member. anyway you try to cover it up its the same MLM its so someone above you gets paid.

YOU SHOULDN'T BE GIVING YOUR BANKING INFORMATION TO A PERSON YOU DON'T KNOW

AUTHOR: Leslie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 14, 2003

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT YOU SHOULDN'T BE GIVING YOUR BANKING INFORMATION TO A PERSON YOU DON'T KNOW WITHOUT HAVING SOMETHING TO SIGN TO PROTECT YOURSELF. HOW NAIVE.

THE COMPANY ISN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT, YOU ARE. AGAIN, THE M.O.M. IS A GROUP OF WOMEN WHO ARE DOING THIS ON THEIR OWN. YOU NEED TO REPORT THEIR BEHAVIOR TO THE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE HEARD COMPLAINTS ON THIS GROUP.

I AM NOT ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!! IF THEIR ETHICS ARE MAKING PEOPLE DISTRUST MELALEUCA, THEN THE COMPANY NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED SO THEY CAN STOP IT.

YOU OBVIOUSLY STILL DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE COMPANY BECAUSE THEIR ARE COUNTLESS MEN WHO ARE IN IT AS WELL. THE MAJORITY ARE WOMEN BECAUSE THE WOMEN ARE THE ONES WHO USUALLY DO THE PURCHASING FOR THEIR FAMILIES.

THAT WAS A DISHONEST PERSON, NOT A DISHONEST COMPANY. YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT THE COMPANY HAS ALSO PUT A STOP TO PEOPLE USING OTHER'S ACCOUNTS TO ORDER THINGS. THERE IS NO RISK OF THAT NOW.

I THINK YOU SHOULD GO PAST THE PERSON WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE, ASK FOR THE SUPERVISOR, GET A LAST NAME AND GET THINGS STRAIGHTENED OUT. THAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO AND THE ADULT THING TO DO.

m.o.m. team not respresentative

AUTHOR: Leslie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 12, 2003

Just wanted to give a little bit of information in response to the m.o.m. team. I have heard that the people who organized it have encouraged people to do some sneaky, unethical and just plain stupid things with Melaleuca to try to get recruits.

People need to understand that you are responsible for checking out the group you choose to affiliate with. YOU are responsible for checking out the company. YOU are responsible to call them and ask questions about the way their business is run. YOU are responsible for reading EVERY word on the contract and understanding it. If you aren't sure, then don't sign. Take it to someone you trust and ask them to help you figure it out.

It is stated in the contract with Melaleuca that a backup order WILL be sent. You even pick which one you want on the front of the agreement!!! YOU HAVE TO TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY. Even the consumer protection people would tell you that.

Melaleuca is a very good company. Unfortunately, some people get greedy and will do ANYTHING to get people into it. That doesn't mean that the company as a whole is that way.

I have a friend who is in a group that trains to the letter of how the company tells them. They give support and help and train their people the way it was meant to be done.

I have been taken before and very embarassed that someone took advantage of me and made me feel stupid. However, is it because I didn't do my part as a consumer? I believe that most of us have had a similar experience at a car repair or a car sales place or at a department store; wherever.
