Purchased a 2010 Toyota Matrix S. Price was reasonable as it was near Edmunds Invoice price. I was there for 3 hours negotiating price. Took me 4 hours to get papers signed and to get keys to car. 4 HOURS!!! How long does it take for me to sign dotted lines on a couple of papers? We were sitting there, twiddling our thumbs. We even had McDonalds for lunch there in the showroom. Our salesman was walking back and forth saying Joshua (I guess finance guy/manager) would be with us shortly...he never showed up. I had to stand in front of his door to get attention. Once things were signed, we were still bounced back and forth between who to see and who would do what.

However, upon finally picking up car and going home, I looked through paper work and noticed they double charged us for "Administrative Fee" of $374, This fee involves dealer handling paper work and prepping car (remember the handling of paper work as I wil be bringing it up again). This is NOT needed but is profit to dealership (clearly states it on paper at the bottom). I bought my 2009 Camry SE at Sunrise Toyota and was not charged this stupid fee. So I went back to show them that I was charged an extra $374. So they are cutting me a check for the refund. I noticed they were noting that a check of $374 would be refunded. But they charged me tax on this fee. I want to be reimbursed for the tax too. So the manager changed it to $405. Umm..NY tax went up to 8.875% as of 8/1 which I was charged at this rate and check should be $407.19. So I pointed that out and the manager smiled and said "COME ON MAN!" Umm...I want what is correct and owed to me. Its only $2 but its the principle. So he than said, "FINE! I'll make it for $410. Happy?" I would be happy if it was done correctly.

So I said I have more thing and the same attitude applied as above. I asked about copy of bill of sale and copy of window sticker to be faxed to GEICO. Manager stated that the buyer has to do that and dealership does it as a courtesy. Umm...isnt that what I'm paying the administrative fee (as mentioned above) for...for them to handle paper work as stated on the invoice? Well I just bought a car from you and it should be done. Sunrise Toyota never had me do this when I got my car. They handled everything for me. All I had to do there was show up, sign papers and give them my bank check deposit.

We asked for free wheel locks. They were stating that we were ripping them off. Ummm..these things cost them barely anything considering the rip off profits they're making off the cars and us. They put on the wheel locks but threw out the original lug nuts. When I got my Camry at Sunrise Toyota, they put the wheel locks on AND gave me the originals back. I had to hound them for the lug nuts.

As I was waiting for manager to get information for check, a young man sat down at my table and had problems and was waiting for a manager. He told me that he put a deposit on a Scion tC. A deposit means that the car is to be held for said buyer. Instead, the day he came to pick up car, the dealership told him that they sold his car. What kind of bull is that?

Toyota has great reliable cars. If they didnt, I wouldnt be buying a Toyota but this dealership is a blatant rip off and gives Toyota a poor image. Do not fall for their 7yr warranty because once you use it, you do not get your money back. If you do use it, what kind of normal manufacturer defect would cost $2000? None. If you dont use it, you get your money back. With that $2000, I can put it into a CD or bank account and gain interest. Car alarm and remote start for $900?! I have read that they force insurance on you in order to finance or lease a vehicle. Per Toyota policy, you can deny insurance and is NOT mandatory. You still get basic 3yr / 36,000 basic warranty. Remote start cuts off engine when you open door. Go buy aftermarket VIPER alarm/remote start for $400. Lojack? Maybe but Toyota's are rarely stolen. Window etching? Not needed. Yes, both give you discounts on your insurance but not much.

To add more scam and rudeness to it all, my sister got a phone call to our house stating that it was Toyota Motor Sales in Connecticut. Toyota HQ is in Cali with a 310 area code. Caller ID showed area code is 516..a Long Island area code. So its really Millennium pretending to be TMS. My sister told them about the situation and the person was rude. My sister called back the 516 # on the caller ID cuz she didnt get the first name of person she talked to. Person picked up & said, "I'm her". Said her name was Laura & than asked why my sister was calling & saying that my sister was beating around the bush. The girl than hands the phone over to another girl that says...I'm Laura, you spoke to me. Ummm..Why did one say she was Laura and the other say that my sister spoke to her. Her response...she was on lunch so I pretended to be her. WTF?

Fast forward 1-2 hours later, my sister gets another phone call but this time on her cellphone and with the area code 310. This time, the person says they are calling from Toyota Motor Sales and that they are doing customer survey. My sister stated that they called already and the REAL rep was stunned and said "Oh really? We never called before". This time, I think this is the TRUE TMS as the area code on the caller ID is 310 and the person was more polite and said that they will notify Toyota and Millennium. She asked if my sister wanted to talk to Millennium. We DO NOT want to deal with them or talk to them anymore. We are aggravated and annoyed with this whole ordeal. The only time I want to talk to them or step foot is to pick up our refund check...whenever that might be.

As of 8/3, we are waiting for our refund check. The person I dealt with stated the finance or whomever deals with checks are busy at the moment and dealing with end of sales paperwork. Lets see how long this will take. If I call back within a week and they are either rude about it or still have not provided a check, I will be filing with BBB, Toyota HQ and State Attorney General. If I didnt look at my invoice, I wouldnt have known. You wonder how many times they did this to other people and they didnt notice.
