Morgan Abbott Construction VIOLATED CONTRACT AND RAN UP $50,000 IN UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES ON FINAL BILL! Cloverdale California

We entered into a contract with Morgan Abbott of Morgan Abbott Construction for new home construction and he routinely billed us three weeks early than what the contract called for and put the heavy squeeze on us to pay up immediately to, as he put it, "keep the sub-contractors happy."

On the final bill he charged us with $50,000 fees that we had no prior knowledge of and certainly no approval from us.  For the last month of the job he stopped getting bids at all, allowing sub-contractors to run up the bill as high as they wished.  The contract called for filing of change orders, etc., for our protection, but he failed to honor this obligation.

The money grab was like pigs at a trough, except the trough was my wallet, and Abbott was the head pig leading the charge, earning a 15% markup on sub-contractor costs.  He made frequent threats to us if we didn't pay him.  (He's over six-feet tall and 300+ pounds.  Imagine a bouncer in a bar)

Five years ago he was a door installer and he couldn't even do that, completely botching the hardware for the pocket doors to our bathrooms on the first floor.  In our house now, you takes your chances if you want to use the toilet because anyone can walk in on you.

Abbott is extremely inexperienced:  he needed to have his father on the job site everyday, an individual who mostly chain-smoked and served up a steady stream of wisecracks, also on my dime.

Abbott is currently under review by the Callifornia State LIcensing Board, the Better Business Bureau, along with notification of his practices to the California Attorney General's Office and the Office of the District Attorney in Sonoma County, CA.

There are easier ways to waste your money than hiring him.  You could flush it down the toilet.
