To  whom it may concern,
I have been making payments on a 2003 Ford Taurus SES for over 2 years, which was purchased from Motion Trend Auto Sales in Tomball, Texas (the owner of the shop is John Fontaine). After owning the car for just a few weeks, I discovered the car had a small vacuum leak and the check engine light had come on. I took it back to the dealer, as it was still  under warranty, and he put some caulking around a tube to "fix" the leak. He then said that the code the car was "throwing", was related to the coil pack. He said that in order to correctly diagnose this, he must reset the Check Engine light 3 times, which he did (reset it, it came on, took it back, reset it, repeat).
I took the car back to the dealer to ask for warranty repairs, and he said I would have to leave it for 3 days to a week (you'll see why this is absurd later). I was unable to do this, as I was working as a correctional officer in Huntsville, TX, and had no other form of transportation (and when asked about a loaner car, he literally laughed in my face). I then took the car to a well-reputed mechanic that does warranty work in my area, and the repairs were denied by the claim adjuster. So, I continued to drive the car.
Well, in August of 2013, I finally was able to get my car towed to the dealer (as it stopped running completely). I was driving an 18-wheeler across the country at the time, so I told him he could take his time with it, and he said that since I wasn't in a hurry, he would "cut me a deal". I called several times to check on the status of repairs. He would say,"Oh, we found the problem and it'll be ready in 3 days." I'd call in 3 days, and he'd say,"It'll be ready Saturday." I called Saturday, and he said,"Well, we couldn't find the problem and think it might be the computer, so I had to take it to another mechanic." Supposedly, my ECM was corrupted and needed to be replaced and programmed. So when my car was FINALLY "ready" (after 6 weeks of waiting), he charged me $947.00 for repairs ($750+ in labor, a "new" battery, which was clearly NOT new, but reconditioned, and a few sensors). I paid him the money, and then went to start my car. But, the car wouldn't even turn over. He claimed it was the fuel pump, and that he'd replace it.
So I waited ANOTHER week for him to do THOSE repairs, and got my car back. He said I could pay him at a later date ($250.00), since the first 6+ weeks were not succesful and I'd already paid him $947.00. Well, just 2 days later, the car started shutting off while driving (for no apparent reason). I would wait a few minutes, and it would start back up. However, when I finally made it to work the following Monday, I went to go out for lunch, and the car refused to start. I continued to attempt to start it throughout the day, to no avail. So the following day, my grandfather and I tied the car to his van and towed it from Spring, TX all the way to the dealer's shop in Tomball.
He said that it was the fuel pump again, and that he'd repair it (AGAIN). I was already quite furious at this point, but continued to give him the benefit of the doubt, and kept my opinions to myself. Well, a few days later, when I called him to check on the car, he said that it wasn't the fuel pump, it was the computer again and that he'd have to take it back to the other mechanic that did the original ECM repairs. After about 2 MORE weeks of waiting, on January 7, 2014, my grandfather went to pick up my car and pay him the $250.00 for the first time he "repaired" the fuel pump. My grandfather told him that he would not pay him until he saw the car start, and John claimed they had started it "5 times, and it ran smoothly". So, John proceeded to go in the back to pull my car around. My grandfather told me that he was gone for several minutes, and he then walked back around the corner shaking his head, stating,"You're not going to believe this." ONCE AGAIN, my car WAS NOT REPAIRED. In an attempt to appease us, he said we could have the $250 back until the car is ready.
At this point, I've been making car payments, insurance payments, and paid him almost $1,000.00 (since he didn't fix it while it was under warranty)...and it's been almost 5 months since I first had it towed to his shop for repairs. I am utterly furious at this point, and I am writing this in attempt to expose John Fontaine and his business, Motion Trend Auto Sales, for being corrupt, incompetent and greedy. I've never missed a payment on this car, and despite my young age, I do not drive like many other people my age. I have a Class A CDL and have driven semi trucks with 53' trailers all over the continental United States. I am a very safe, cautious, courteous and responsible driver, and I do not "dog" any vehicle I've ever operated/owned.
I would like a complete refund of the $947.00 for repairs that have taken FAR too long, $140.00 for towing the vehicle the first time,  $900 for a lease car that I had to pay for out of pocket, $2,000 for a warranty I was never able to use, a refund of the last 5 months of payments ($300/mo x 5 months=$1,500), AND a loaner car until repairs are completed (or another car altogether). This situation has cost me and my grandfather countless hours of money lost from work missed, missed job opportunities and all the money we've had to dump into this fruitless project. On top of this, though not necessary, I would like to see this man's business terminated and his customer base evaporate before his eyes. I want EVERYONE in the area to know how corrupt this business is, and that it would be wise to NEVER purchase ANYTHING from this man or his company. I am sending a copy of this report to the BBB, Chamber of Commerce, EVERY media outlet and as much social media communicaiton mediums as I can possibly think of. I will also leave a negative review on Yelp, his website and every other consumer review site I can find.
Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy letter, and I appreciate anything you can do to assist me in this matter. Thanks again, and have a wonderful evening. God bless!
