In April of 2004 our household received a bill from National One Telecom in the amount of $168.00 for two calls made to the United Kingdom (44 207 335 84) for a total of 42 minutes. Immediatly realizing that these charges were false I looked for a way to contact the company. Finding that there was no phone number listed I went to nationalone.com where I had to download a program on to my computer just to find out what the charges were for.

With in minutes I received an e-mail back from them stating that these charges were for viewing an adult website. I then responded National One letting them know that there had been some kind of mistake and that they needed to contact me in a timely manner. Which they have never done!

I have now received my local phone bill which has a USBI charge of $93.20. When I attempted to contact them at 1-888-241-8724 a machine answered and told me to leave my name and phone number and I would be contacted on the folling business day, but I wasn't! When I tried to call back I was told by a machine that the machine was turned off.

I am at a loss of what to do. Not paying these bills can damage my families credit, yet these charges are not mine to pay for. Is there any hope or help?

After numerous attempts to talk with a representative from USBI, I finally have.

The first operator, #1620, told me that the charges were made with the approval of someone in the house and that they could put a block on the line so no other further problems would occur. But that I would have to contact National One if I wanted to dispute the charges. I informed him that I already had and that they had not contacted me back. He then ask if he could put me on hold, I said sure, and he hung up on me.
Upon calling back I was connected with operator #0311, who by now was familiar with my problem. After telling her a little more information, she said she would forward this over to someone at National One and that she should have a reply by the following day, this already being a little after 4pm, and she would call me back with their response.

At 4:55pm the same day I received a call from operator #0311 telling me that National One had e-mailed her back already and that all the charges had been credited. I no longer owe National One or USBI. I don't know how this worked, but I will sure be greatful if it does!

Don't give up keep trying and hopefully you too will get an operator to help you out. My thanks to operator #0311.
