Trying this again since my first post didnt go through. After almost 3 years with the company, hoping they would decide to play nice and become what they claimed they were, I walked away from my management position and the company. This all happened within the last few days. Long story short, we went from demanding a deposit of $79 to allowing people to use their own long distance to persuading people to use Qwest LDS. Of course the own long distance route didnt last long because the company didnt make any money that way.

With Qwest, they get a commission off of everyone WE, as recruiters, set up with them. Then they added Matrix long distance to the equation. FYI, Matrix is Qwest, just a branch off version, same company, same programs, same service. Anyone that signed up with Matrix can call that 700# and the recording will be "Thank you for using Qwest". I have Qwest, love it, using it for my new work at home job. Now, they switched to Matrix completely and here is why. They talked this company into allowing them to collect a $20 "set up" fee for the long distance service. But this isnt a Matrix fee, this is an NHCD fee. NHCD just felt that people out there would be gullible enough to fall for the set up fee. And a few have, but not many. Now, tip for people who want to work for this company but dont want to pay the "set up fee". Call matrix directly, dont tell them that you are trying to work with NCHD, set up your service and then apply for a position. When the NHCD recruiter calls you to interview you and tells you that they are "required" to collect a $20 fee on behalf of Matrix, tell them that you are already a Matrix customer. They have no choice but to allow you to start working. Now, 2 things come into play here. First, the majority of the recruiters with NHCD have no clue that they are straight out lying to you when they tell you the fee is for Matrix, they are doing what they have been told to do. Second, that recruiter will only make $1 off that hire. Not a lot of recruiters will stick around for $10 or $15 a week.

Now, in all fairness, I will state that during my 3 years with them, I enjoyed the majority of it. Payroll was always on time, the admin people were nice and I got to meet some really nice people. The downside? I dealt with threats and intimidation tactics on a daily basis, dealt with Senior Managers that couldnt handle making toast unsupervised let alone running a team of 50+ people. I was bounced between 7 managers and 3 teams before I left. The recruiting department has no structure, no morals and absolutely no stability. The rules change weekly, you never knew what to expect when the day started. If your Senior manager didnt meet her company set goals, guess who got punished? The whole team! New reps coming from other departments were withheld, making it impossible for the smaller teams to do anything but get smaller as people quit because they set the standards so high that noone qualified for work most of the time. You cant make money if you dont have the work. Yeah yeah be proactive, put out flyers, business cards ect, get the personal hires. If I wanted to spend 6 hours a day outside the home working, I wouldnt have taken an at home job.

Having people come in as W2 employees was a joke. That was a tactic to make people believe they were going to make $5.15 an hour, although noone was ever allowed to work or be paid for more than 2 hours of work a day without written approval. Everyone that was a W2 employee is usually "encouraged" to switch to a 1099 status. Locking people off the server, sending potential termination letters ect, offering them the option to save their job by switching to a 1099 status, which means they cant fire you if you make a mistake. All of this so that the company wouldnt have to pay the employment insurance on the W2 reps. They cant pay the insurance, do advertising and cover payroll at the same time because they arent taking $79 from everyone anymore. So something had to go and it was the insurance.

So if you are looking for a company that will slip you the rose colored glasses during the interview, steal $20 out of your pocket, encourage you at first and then threaten you to do what they want, then go for NHCD, it has all of those qualities and they wont let you down. And if you like the brown nosing thing, ask to be on the orange team, I heard that they will show you the way! I am done with threats and motivation by intimidation. After 3 years of faithful service to this company, I left and I got 1 single email from someone in Admin telling me "sorry to see you go". Pretty pathetic from a company that has a website that just pours out admiration for their reps.
