I received a letter and a very real looking check in the mail on Oct. 31. Pretty standard "On Oct. 20 your name was drawn.....you've won $75,000......your lucky numbers are 48-23-26-15-17-03...". I called the "customer service" number on the letter and was told to deposit the check immediately to expedite getting my $75,000 in lottery winnings.

The first red flag that went up to me is that the check was from a water company in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The operator told me that this water company is sponsoring me and helping me to get my winnings by paying my administrative and processing fees! The operator, who by the way was very hard to understand because of their thick foreign accent, told me to search on searched to verify that this is a legit lottery. Which I did and I immediately encountered tons of complaints about this scam.

Additionally, I searched the water company's name and got their phone number. Wouldn't you know that this company that is sponsoring ME is inundated with phone calls similiar to mine. They are aware of the scam, so is their bank (M&T BANK)and the FBI. It is indeed their account information on the check, it's an exact duplicate of one of their checks, right down to the forged signature. Amazing.

SO I decided to call the "customer service" number back and pretend like I forgot all of the money gram directions. I got the SAME person on the phone again. She gave me money gram instructions to send my $1,500 to; Brenda Joseph, 5655 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77092. When I told my "CSR" that I had contacted the water company sponsoring me and verified that this is a scam she tried her damndest to reassure me that this was real. I passed the info. for money gram back to the water co. in PA. I hope they can catch the people behind this scam, they're trash!!

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM, do your research and you'll find that many people are being fooled by this everyday.

Instead, I think I may just try my luck on a Virginia Lottery with the numbers that they picked for me. Who knows maybe I can win something, legitimately though!! ;) lol
