OptumHealth Financial Services OptumHealth Cashed my COBRA payments, but did not pay the actual insurance providers Minnetonka, Minnesota

OptumHealth Financial Services has been cashing my COBRA payments for the last 4 months. But when I contacted my dental insurance company, Delta Dental, they said that my insurance was cancelled at the time I shifted to COBRA, and never renewed.

I called Optum and they blew me off saying that my insurance may have moved to a different plan or provider. After a couple of attempts, and having one agent hang up on me, a customer service rep from Delta Dental was nice enough to get on a conference call with them. Finally, OptumHealth admitted that there may be a problem and sent a 'note to the operations team.'

My life insurance policy is also 'managed' by these crooks. They were unable to tell me anything about the plan, not even the policy number. They could not even give me a correct phone number for the agency that supposedly provides my life insurance.

I am glad that I opted for an individual health plan, instead of COBRA. Otherwise a 3 month break would have triggered tax penalties and/or possible denials due to preexisting conditions.

Life and health insurance is too important to leave in hands of an incompetent and irresponsible company like OptumHealth Financial Services Inc. I see other rip-off reports where they have done the same thing -- cashing checks and not paying service providers. If your company uses OptumHealth Financial Services to manage your COBRA plan, *please* move to alternative individual plans.
