To Whom It May Concern,

This was a letter I posted Glastron some months ago with no response. In the meantime my boat was winterized by the marina (Patchogue Shores Marina). To say I am unimpressed is an understatement. As you will read below my NEW 2011 Glastron had more problems than I care to remember. I was towed in twice and while Patchogue Shores Marina lived up to the warranty it was obvious to my wife and I that the boat was never inspected for possible factory defects neither by them or Glastron. Since they lived up to their obligation for a new boat I winterized it with them this past winter (2011).

Since then Ive had to replace both batteries (they were only disconnected not removed) and after 2 months of being in the water am in the process of repainting the bottom since the paint is seriously coming off. I spoke with Dave Kasmark this evening (6/12/2012) and was informed that he would send someone to repaint the bottom again heres the thing I said I am providing the paint and my boat should not be out in the first place. It costed me $300 to haul the boat guess what David Kasmark said I had to pay for it all Guess what I said. In any case I will be repainting it myself. READ BELOW AND BEWARE OF PATCHOGUE SHORES MARINA, LONG ISLAND, NY.

I purchased my Glastron 289GS last January 2011. It was delivered to me in April 2011 in Oyster Bay, NY. My marina is across the Long Island Sound in New Rochelle, NY (about a 30 min cruise). Upon arriving in New Rochelle I noticed water in the main (downstairs) cabin. Upon inspection I found that the front hold (underneath the v-berth) was full of water. I am not sure how it got there. It was fresh water and not salt. I assumed that somehow rain had gotten in has not happened since.

I am not new to boating. This will be my 5th year on the sound. Prior to buying this Glastron, I owned a SeaRay Sundancer 240. I ran nearly 400 hours on that boat in 3 years with not a single incident. However upon purchasing this Glastron 289GS it has been nothing but trouble. For the sake of space I am going to list ALL of the issues and items that were either not installed or needed repair. Due to some of these issues I had to be towed in twice.

Port Front Speaker was not hooked up

When the mechanic came to fix the port front speaker we found that the FM antenna was not installed

The V-Berth Poles that held up the bed were too short and the bed kept collapsing Had to measure and replace the poles myself

The A/C / Heat pump did not work and had to be fixed

On the way out of the marina one day the engine started to overheat and I had to be towed back The engine did not start for 3 days.

The ignition was not installed properly and had to be replaced TWICE. The first time it malfunctioned we had to be towed in. The second time it malfunctioned, the mechanic and I found that there was NO GROUND WIRE INSTALLED ON THE ENGINE. This led to other issues, for example, using the windlass would shut off the GPS unit since everything was being grounded through the ignition. Hence the reason it blew twice.

There are no wiring harnesses behind the electrical panel this leads to problems with the loose wires interfering with radio signal and the radio just shutting off.

The stern shower has almost no pressure and therefore is practically useless.

Due to all these issues I had to cancel two long distance trips, one to Montauk and the other to Block Island. My wife and I were very afraid of traveling long distances since we never knew if we were going to make it to our destination and then back again. I upgraded to this boat so that we could take multiple day, long distance trips like I did with no issue with my previous boat (mentioned above). As you can probably see I am EXTREMELY unhappy with this boat. Its plainly clear to my wife and me that no attention to detail was exercised when this boat was built and no inspection had been performed prior to it being delivered to me either by Glastron or any of the other partners, (Refrig, Stove, Radio, Microwave, Etc.) or Patchogue Shores Marina. Needless to say, we have been the talk of our marina for all the wrong reasons, and everyone that saw our brand new boat being towed in TWICE in a matter of weeks agrees that they will NEVER purchase a Glastron in their lives if this is the kind of product they can expect.

As I mentioned above this was a letter posted to Galstron this year with no response.

I have bought 2 new boats from Dave

AUTHOR: Duane Heskin - ()

POSTED: Thursday, March 27, 2014

I must say that after buying 2 new boats from Patchogue shore marina THAT DAVE AND THE MARINA HAS TREATED US GREAT.It's just like when you buy a new car there WILL be a few things wrong with it.I must say that after i have bought 2 new boats from Dave anything that was wrong with these boats he made sure that it was fixed in a timely fashion.Dave and the marina has gone above and beyond to make my wife and me happy.I think that if anyone bought a boat from Dave he would want you to be happy or he would fix the problem.I  think what people need to understand that #1Dave don't build the boats, #2 if some one buys a boat and they abuse that boat i don't think anyone should expect him to fix it fir free.I WOULD FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE BUYING MORE BOATS FROM PATCHOGUE SHORES MARINA.

           Thank you

I have known the owner of this marina for many years

I bought a boat from Dave many years ago. It had a problem or two & he went out of his way to fix my boat. In fact at a great expense & many hours of travel to get me going again. He is a wonderful person & when I am ready to buy a new Boat (soon) Dave is one of the only people I would trust in the industry for advice. So while I have no knowledge of this issue I find it hard to imagine that Dave did not do his best to solve your problems. Rich & Barb from CT.  (since 1993)

very sorry to hear about the problems paul had with his boat, to our knowledge all was corrected and in a timley manner, I have been in buisness 40 years and enjoy a good reputation,I am currently sueing Paul for failure to pay service bills from last winter, and am tired of being cursed out over the phone,he failed to tell you he ran the boat aground in the first season, or he left a message on my answering machine that he had a problem with bottom paint at the water line but it was minor,I agreed to repaint the whole bottom, not the water line only, at my expense and the paint manufacture was involved and paying for cost of paint, Some times you just cannot please some people,   sorry
