Paul Hudson Theft of Equipment and Deceitful Business Practices Plano Texas

We worked with Paul on a short film. He made promises and did not keep them. On top of that he and his company UAN is trying to steal our story. We are as of now...watching them and will take the mto court if need be. 

Hello.  My name is Daniel Noe and have no shame nor fear in revealing who I am and my past connection, personally and in business dealings with Mr. Paul Hudson.

I do know for a fact that he has very sticky fingers, having been there, in person.  However I did not take part in his thefts.  In fact, as in being there, when he would get caught or called out on a piece of equipment.

I also know the people, businesses and services he has stolen from.

Paul is psychologically troubled.  Have seen his personal actions, and I am talking about at home, as I have been and stayed at his home on numerous ocassions.  I did state that we were friends.

I know of Pauls thefts of other peoples properties, particularly equipment for film and video.  I am talking Dutch mounts from Victor Duncan, (you know this news is old as VD is no longer in business in Dallas), Liekos with chimeras from Video Techs, Cameras, (a Sony I know of particulary) from Icon Video.  And I am sure the list is longer than I know of.

When Paul was arrested in 2007 I was there on the spot.  We were rigging Lamps for a series pilot just south of Southside on Lamar.  It was around 6:30 pm when the police arrived to the location and I witnessed them arresting and handcuffing Paul.  He did admit to stealing a digital camera then and there.

Paul not only jacked me, but a long list of other before, and most asuredly after me. 

I was present when he literally bailed on an Indie picture, "The Last Tomorrow".  He was a producer attached with camera, DP services and G&E package.  He bailed taking camera and G&E with him.  Can't shoot a film w/o camera and equipment!

The writer/ director/ producer called on me and I raised the necessary funding to finish the shoot.  And I assisted in the shoot completion.  

My last chirade with him, that broke the straw on the proverbial camels back, was in 2007.

I was basically given the vendor service agreement for Grip and Electrical for the film "Mama I Wanna Sing" shooting in Baton Rouge.  All I had to do was show up with a pen and a truck.

Paul and I agree to drive down to B.R. together to secure the contract.  That day Paul was a no show and it cost me a 38K contract for vendor services and box rental for G&E.

I will say this much about Paul and him not paying.  Personally I never had a problem with that.  In fact he was quite generous with me and would pay me a daily rate of 300.00 a day, and accommodate me with lodging and meals.

I confirm what Jane Doe has written about Paul Hudson.

He was my friend at one time, but a thief is a bloody thief.

I have contemplated making this report for a very long time, but I feel others need to be warned to stay away from this scumbag.
 
1. I have personal first hand knowledge of the failure to pay for services, as it was me that was ripped off. I provided services to Paul Hudson on several 16mm film music videos. I have not been paid for the services provided.
 
2. I have second hand knowledge of failure to pay for services. Several other people I worked with on those music videos have not ever been paid despite drastic measures taken in attempts to receive payment.
 
3. I have personal first hand knowledge of theft of equipment. I personally saw temporary electrical distribution equipment on Paul's grip truck from a local equipment supply house. When I brought this to the attention of the local equipment rental facility, I was told by the employees of that company that the locks were cut off a grip truck stored outside and that temporary electrical distribution equipment was stolen.
 
4. I have second hand knowledge of theft of equipment from another equipment rental company. I have personally spoken with an employee of a film/video who saw Paul Hudson loading (attempting to steal) lighting equipment into his personal vehicle.  When confronted Paul said he was unloading and returning rented gear. No rental for said gear existed.
 
5.  I have second hand knowledge of theft of equipment from same equipment rental company as in point 4.  I have personally spoken with and employee of said company who explained to me that Paul used a second individual to create a diversion in order to gain access to a secure area of the building. Subsequently items were missing. Big surprise.
 
6. I have second hand knowledge of theft of equipment from a studio rental facility. I have personally spoken with a technician who was working on a job with Paul Hudson at said studio rental facility. At completion of the job, during wrap, the technician witnessed Paul put studio owned equipment into his grip truck which was also suppling equipment for the job. When confronted by the technician, Paul said that he made a mistake and that the gear looked very similar to gear he owned.
 
7. I have second hand knowledge of theft of equipment from another studio rental facility. I was working on the aforementioned music videos at the studio facility in question for Paul hudson and his company. We were using a type of grip support stand that is exceedingly rare in the business. In fact, the studio rental facility in question is the only place that owes this time of grip support stand in all of the DFW metroplex. After completion of the job, which I did not get paid for BTW, the studio rental facility contacted me expressing concern about missing some of these grip support stands. At the time the music video for Paul was the only project going on in the building. Later, another technician reported to me seeing that type of grip support stand on Paul's grip truck. It had paint on it in the identifying color of said studio rental facility.
 
8. I have third hand knowledge of theft of equipment. While I would not normally even write about something I have third hand knowledge of I will make the exception here for several reasons. First, in this theft of services he was caught and convicted. Second, you can see the record for yourself on the other Ripoff Report on Paul.  Paul went to work for a local video production company. The owner was warned about Paul.  The owner did not heed the warning and hired Paul anyway. Lots of the owner's items went missing. I heard that some of the items ended up on eBay.
 
With the exception of point 8, none of the other thefts have resulted in criminal or civil proceedings.
 
And this is all just from 1 person. If I know of 8 seperate instances personally, think how many more there must be. I know that Paul likes to operate out of Nashville as well as other locals mentioned in the other Ripoff Report.
 
To Jane Doe. Thanks for taking the time to write about Paul. I would not have written what I know if not for you breaking the ice. I did not even know about this site till I got directed here by some other people who had been ripped off by him.
 
I am writing anonymously as I also believe him to be potentially dangerous.
