Today I walked into the PNC bank branch in Brick, NJ.  I had received a refund check from my eye docters office in the amount of $55.

I was then informed that PNC corporate policy is to "charge a $10 fee for NON CUSTOMERS".

This is nothing more than a cheap way to add revenue to the quarterly profits.  Who ever heard of such a ridiculous way to raise money.  I can understand a small fee for using an ATM, but to cash a check that is unheard of.

After complaining at the local level, I found the corporate phone numbers so I could lodge a complaint.  I flabergasted by the response I got from "Julie".  The attitude seems to be the same at every level.  Tough luck, but you can open an account and not pay the fees.......

I can only hope that each and every member of the "ruling elite" begins to be charged extra for goods and services from those who provide to them.

Boycott PNC, I urge people to complain to:> James E. Rohr, PNC's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer as well as the rest of the board: (((link redacted)))

Let them know of this stupid and low policy that borders on theft.

"...to cash a check that is unheard of."

Uh... it's the policy at every bank I've ever had an account with, big and small.

What do you expect them to say?  "Oh my God, my employer is so mean!  Here, let me violate my job responsibilities and give it to you free, OK, Pumpkin?"

I presume that since you're "cashing" the check and not depositing it at the bank you have an account with, that you have a reason:
1.  You don't have any bank accounts (stupid move)
2.  You're tight for money so you can't wait an extra day or two for the funds to be available in your account (fine, but there's a cost/benefit analysis there you need to do - all of it and wait, or $10 less but get it immediately)
3.  You're too far from a branch of your bank (somewhat legit complaint, but still, not really).

"ripoff to account holders"

You don't have an account there so why are you claiming it's a "ripoff to account holders"?

You were charged for a service. Not a rip off.
