POWER TAX RELIEF - DO NOT USE THEM! They LIE & LIE! Los Angeles California

I called to find out about their services and my call was answered by John Rossi, whom after hearing a brief description of my problem, said "Well, I'm a tax attorney and your problems with the IRS are over. You will never have to deal with the IRS again."

Of course this sounded great to me, and we began chatting some more about what the IRS had done so far, what I had received from them, how much I owed them, what my financial situtation is, how much I have in the 401K, how much property I own (cars, homes, land, etc.), my job & health info, etc. After going through those issues, John told me it would cost $3,500.00 for them to represent me for my audit, and then the IRS would never be able to come back and ask to see or audit ANY of the tax years over the past 10 years. I thought this was great also, and couldn't believe my ears.

He spoke very quickly, and sounded to me like a used car salesman, - telling me everything I wanted to hear about their service/product - and how much I was going to gain from buying it.

When John got to the point where he was asking for my payment info, I told him my husband had all of that and would have to provide that to him later, since he was at work for several more hours.

John immediately said "Well, that's no problem. We can get him on a conference call RIGHT NOW and take care of that. Give me his number so I can call your husband and get you two started today.

I told John that my husband was in a very important meeting at the moment attempting to close a multi-million dollar deal with a very important client, - and that I was NOT going to interrupt that meeting for the IRS or anyone else. I explained that I had 2 years of tax returns which needed to be completed, too, - and asked how much it would cost for their assistance with those returns.

John put me on hold, then a minute later returned and stated it would cost an additional $1,000.00 for them to complete those 2 returns for us. $4,500.00 didn't seem like a bad deal, considering that the IRS wants more than twice that from me right now.

Yet, once again John becamse a but 'pushy' as he tried to 'close the deal', and asked me AGAIN to call my husband. That time I became a but indignant myself, and re-stated that I would NOT disturb my husband right then for any reason that was not an absolute emergency.

Then I asked John "I'm sorry. DId you say you are an attorney? Are you a tax attorney?"

John replied: "Uh, - no. I'm the Chief Tax Advisor here." I said Oh, okay...and then asked if there was anything else I needed to know about their service, etc. He told me I'd get a clean slate and not owe the IRS a dime after they finished, provided I gave them the power of attorney they wanted, and the paperwork from the IRS along with my financial information, etc. they required to represent me at the audit.

Hearing that once we hired and paid them, - that we'd NEVER have to deal with the IRS again, and that the IRS could NEVER come back on us for ANY of the tax returns we filed during our entire marriage, ... was like hearing we'd won the lottery. :-) I was thrilled and couldn't wait to tell my husband!

Yet, somewhere inside my 'gut', something kept eating at me and telling me that 'something wasn't 'quite right' with this guy John and/or with what he had been telling me.

He spoke and behaved too much like a commissioned sales person for my personal comfort. After our conversation ended, he told me to have my husband call him after 9am CST at his direct line - 800-320-1400 ext.202 so my husband could pay the $4,500.00 and they could begin collecting paperwork, power of attorney forms, etc. from us to begin our case.

Something told me to do a Google search on them, and that's when I discovered NUMEROUS complaints here, on ConsumerAffairs, and various other complaint websites. Apparently, Power Tax Relief has a habit of taking thousands of dollars from 'clients', then failing to initiate any representation with the IRS and/or follow-up with the IRS. Apparently, they also do NOT return any funds to dissatisfied clients, or to persons they have failed to represent - either properly or not at all.

In summary, what I have learned is that the LIE John Rossi TOLD ME today about him being a tax attorney and then later stating he is NOT an 'attorney' but IS Power Tax's "Chief Tax Advisor", ... is just one of many more to come my way if I decided to give them $4,500.00 to 'help' me with my tax problems. Heck, for $4,500.00, I could pay the IRS 50% of the amount they are asking for from me and be done with it by making payment arrangements for the other 50%! THAT would be a lot smarter than just tossing my $4,500.00 over to PowerTax so they could give me the runaround every time as I have learned they continually do to SO MANY OTHER UNSUSPECTING 'CLIENTS'.
