 Hello, This is an unaggressive response to the gentleman who wrote about Legal Shield and the two owners. First question, I always ask, is prior to this relationship, have you ever been self employed Was this opportunity successful? I graduated FSU working 45 hours a week and 12 hours a quarter. This was a Restaurant Franchise with 13 stores in FLA, $52 million in revenue and 1500 employees . Most my life was self employed looking for opportunities with a lot of work, I mean 18 hours a day for over 30 years. These opportunities were about identifying and taking advantage of these, there was no luck, it was always paying attention. There were 6 of these businesses, my largest investment was 350.00. The different companies involved annual revenues from $500,000 to $4 billion . 99% of all Americans walked right by the same opportunity but were to busy working 9 - 5 Mon - Fri. My friends have been worth $25,000 to $500million. I agree with this gentleman that most of the rich trampled over many average American bodies to make their money. These are not the smartest people just self centered and greedy. In regards to Harland and Rip Mason. They both had differing objectives. Harland started the company and was successful for 37 years.

His responsibility was to keep his customers and associates satisfied to be profitable When the acquisition was made for $650 million and the group added another $650 million, just a group of complete morons would have done this. Unless your completely unaware of exactly what Direct Marketing is, you will not understand that SCAM Direct Marketing are lucky to make it 3 years. The difference is Rip Masons responsibility is much larger. This was no longer a Family Business but a part of a Capital Organization whose primary intent is to buy companies with consistent and large cash flows.This keeps their investments running 24/7 I worked for the Largest Independent Living Communities in the world. This happened 5 years ago and it became quickly understood this organization was all about the money and not the residents. The Carlsons sold for $4 billion. 2% of employees approve of the existing CEO. How much longer do they have?

By the way, I was involved with a Direct Marketing Company out of Memphis that went from $20 million annual sales to $500 million in 7 years. I earned over $1million during this time. If this gentleman spent $300,000 to become an executive Director with Legal Shield which is no where near the money I spent, maybe $50,000. Unfortunately sir, you do not have much of a business background. What I do agree with is many of these companies do not educate people on how to build a business. This was not the case with my associates, A lot of higher earners set their associates up for failure because what you usually hear is, just go out and talk to a lot of people and money just falls from the sky. Whatever you do now if you find the right Direct Marketing company with the right product you can make good money. Be prepared to work hard and most importantly consistency, you can build a decent $60,000 year income Only 20% of people who follow the plan will make it. Only because they have not been trained properly or just don't have the work effort I have used their product least a dozen times for things my regular attorney would have charged roughly $10,000 for and my prepaid bill was $2500 25 less. Most companies work hard to take care of the people we service and the customers. I'm going to Philly tomorrow and feel will be taking my membership back and an associate position. My apologies for your unfortunate experience, The person actually responsible for this happening would be the call center manager. Were all human and make mistakes and unless you called up cursing and yelling, give the money back to make you happy. This sort of thing doesn't happen often and my years tell me to make you happy and move forward. (((redacted)))

I  don't  care  one  bit  about  PPL's  business  model.  But  I  spent TIME,  MY TIME,  and  a little  of  my  money  (  and it  does  not  make any  difference how  much  much  money,  because  I  PAID  what   they asked:  it's  called  a  contract  for  performance,  cyanide  drinker).  And the  fact  that  I  was  DECEIVED,  kool-aid  drinker,  is  the  point !!!

When  a  party  sells  me  a  bill of  good  and  services,  I  d**n well expect  one  thing  -  DELIVERY.  Ponder  that,  if  you  are  capable.

After reading your report I felt some clarification was needed.  It is unfortunate you feel you have been taken by legal shield.  I do not agree.  I believe you may have misunderstood the plan that was sold to you or did not read all the literature that is available to you on the subject. I know what they give you, I am a member.

I am considered an expert on the resolution of Identity Theft have assisted the House of Representative in Drafting two laws that were passed and entered into legislation. Ran my own resolution company for many years on the matter of ID theft and have assisted attorneys in their litigation on many occasions as well as law enforcement and am enrolled in Legal Studies going on to Law School.   I have several associates that have legal shield and are very happy with the results.  Which is only one reason why I recently agreed to become an associate. 

Yes, it is a multilevel marketing program, however it is not just based on sales but persistancy.  It does not pay an associate to sign up someone just to make a sale for a month.  The reward does not start unless the person stays.  The company promotes that to each associate they want you as a customer to stay.  It may be true that the "used car salesman" did not know the product or all of what is covered and may not have conveyed that information properly to you.  But whatever the salesman failed to explain, legal shield provided to you all the necessary information for you to use the plan to its fullest when you signed up.  You would receive this both by mail and by email if you provided an email address.  Your responsibility starts at reading that information, contacting the company with any questions if you do not have a personal representative. When you built these relationships with the provider law firm on the phone, you would have been upset if they did not call back, obviously that was not the problem.  You must have been happy with the letters they drafted for you.  All of this, from what you describe, could have cost you well into the thousands for the work they already did under the plan.

It seems from your comments, your standard plan coverage ended when you needed to move this into court. At this time, they will refer you to a lawyer experienced in the field you need representation in for a negotiated rate at a 25% discount.  I would think if the provider law firm attempted to represent you in a matter they have little experience in that may be considered malpractice.  Would you really want someone on your case that is not qualified to fight the fight?  I would not. 

From your comments, it seems you received the legal plan as sold; of $17.   This entitles you to Unlimited access to attorneys to talk about any legal issue, moving violations and issues of the IRS with restrictions as to the amount of time and only returns since you have become a member, letters to be drafted usually 2 a month (there are conditions) and they will read and advise on a maximum of 10 pages of any legal document.  It also allows a spouse and children under the coverage.  In addition you get a free Will drafted for you and one for the spouse of only $20 additional, which can be amended from time to time.  That is quite a bit for $17 dollars a month.  If you add the ID Theft Guard to the plan it will only cost an additional $9.95 or $19.95 depending on the plan you want and the coverage you desire.  Personally, I think the ID Theft plan is incredible, I could not do what they provide for that price. 

Anything you buy comes with terms and conditions.  It is not just up to a salesperson to tell you that, it is the responsibility of the individual to read the information provided, ask questions when they do not understand something.  I'm sure it became a concern when it would cost you out of pocket to defend your position.  But if you were not happy, all you had to do is cancel the following month.  The agreement is based on a month to month, not long term.  You received the services that you were entitled to, but apparently you felt you were entitled to more.  From what I read in your comments it seems you were given just what your contract provided and what legal shield promised when you signed up.

The confusion is unfortunate, I believe in the program and that they provide what they represent, but I read all the details before I signed up as a member and after.  If you are paying for representation now and quit legal shield, you would not be receiving the 25% discount, that is unfortunate too.

TWO:  THIS  IS  NOT  A  COMPLAINT  that  pertains  to  a   single  individual, or  their  families.   This  is  not  personal.....this  is  BUSINESS.

THREE:   IN  AMERICA,   when  you  advertise  a  service,  and  you  take person's  hard-earned  money,   then  you  DELIVER   the  service   you  sold, or  you  be  kind  enough,  and   and  ETHICAL   enough,   to  refund  that  person's  money.   And  then  apologize  for   not  delivering  the  service   that
you   pledged  to  deliver.  

FOUR:    YOU  CAN  SEE   that  I  used   the  term  and  word,  " PLEDGE ".  I  use that  term  intentionally,  due  to  the  fact  that  when   the   law  is   involved,   lives are  affected.   Sometimes,  lives  are  ruined.

 FIVE:     IF  YOU  WISH  TO  CONTRADICT  my   complaint, please  have  the  simple   character  enough  to  identify  yourself,   or,  if  you  don't  have moral  and  ethical   fiber   and   the   dime's  worth   of   guts  to  identify yourself,  then   at  least   write  something   that  might  just  accidentally give  us  a   remote  clue  that   you  have  a  brain,  or  heart  and  soul   and that  you  belong  to  the  human  race.   Don't  just   post  an    childish   insult, and  then  fool  yourself  into  thinking  that  you  are  a   real   person.   

SIX:    PRE-PAID  LEGAL  is  a   company  that  is   not  involved  in   fruit  and  vegetable  sales.   Or  even  airplane  parts.   Or,   shirts  and   pants   made  in The  Republic  of Taiwan,    by   ten  year  old  girls   who  are  supporting   a  sick   Auntie.    PPL   is   selling  a   pipe  dream.    

SEVEN:   Therefore,   have  an  ounce  of  guts   when  you  post  a   "rebuttal" behind   my  complaint.   Say  something  real,   or,  I  will   petition   ED  M.   to  be  kind   enough  to  remove  your  so-called   "rebuttal".

Have you considered that PPL might not be the problem? If you had 3 cases, issues with the landlord, his girlfriend, the people at PPL, the agent who sold you PPL, the lady who gave you the attorney referrals.....Geesh, never mind, the list speaks for itself.

IMHO your report reads like someone who complains about every single detail in your life. You must be very difficult to be around. It seems as though nothing makes you happy and I can help but say that even if PPL won all your cases, got you a settlement and did everything right, I think you'd complain because they didn't roll out the red carpet.

In investigating PPL/LegalShield , This is what I found- They've been around 42 years, they have an A rating with the BBB and have 4.2 million satisfied customers.

I'm sorry, but a company with a record like that can only achieve it by honest means and clearly with 4.2 satisfied customers, obviously they aren't in the business of scamming people.

I will say Thank you for your post because you've succeeded in bringing them to my attention and after investigating them on my own and seeing their record, I want the service! Seriously......unlimited access to unlimited legal advice for $17 per month! I get my Will and Healthcare Power of Attorney done, 60 hours of trial representation in my first year.....
