Boy, do I feel stupid!  A 30 - 60 day home improvement project that is still not right after over 4 years!

I filed a report on 10/29/08 with RipoffReport.com about my horrible experiences with this company and particularly the owner, Tamir Pinhas.  I won't go over all the details again as that report is still available on RipoffReport.com for anyone to read.

It took me over two years of constant battles with Preferred and Tamir Pinas until they finally rebuilt the C-Thru sunroom they sold me. (Briefly:  They sold me a top-end room then substituted it with low-end model which flood time and again and did not provide the sound and thermal insulation as originally represented).  Finally, after years of constant fighting with Tamir and listening to his many lies and suffering through his insults and screaming, he finally agreed to rebuild the sunroom.  This was only accomplished after I had filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board who thoroughly investigated my complaints, found them legitimate, and issued a warning to Tamir Pinhas and Preferred Home Builders, Inc. to correct his actions under penalty of possible suspension of his License.

After the room was finally rebuilt (2008/2009), Tamir requested that I provide him with a letter stating that he had replaced the room.  At that time he promised that, if I would provide the letter, he would take care of any problems that might occur with the rebuilt room in the future.  Well, it is a little over one year since the sunroom was rebuilt and the roof is again leaking profusely and still does not provide the level of sound and temperature insulation represented.

Based upon Tamir's promise to stand behind his work, I called Preferred to ask if they would come out to repair the leaks before the water damaged my furniture.  I spoke to a lady names Hadas, who said Tamir was not in.  She pleasantly told me that she would speak to him and that he would probably send someone out to fix the leak.  She went on to say that she would call me back to coordinate the repairs.  She did call me back only to tell me that Tamir said that they were not responsible to repair the leaks.

According to Hadas, Tamir said that the leaks had nothing to do with Preferred and I should contact their sub-contractor who had rebuilt the room to see if he would do anything.

She went on to tell me that Tamir said that they had already spent thousands of dollars to please me.  It is my honest opinion that, if he did spend additional money, it was not to please me.  Rather, he spent it under obvious duress, motivated only by the fear of receiving sanctions against his Contractor's License by the Contractors State License Board. I do believe that they may have spent thousands of dollars that they had not planned to spend on my project.  However, that is their fault, not mine.  If they had not tried to cut every corner they could on my project, and totally disregarded professionalism and good business practices, this project would have been satisfactorily completed years ago.

The bottom line is, instead of the 30 - 60 days the entire project was to take from start to finish, it has taken over 4 years of suffering through shoddy construction, continuous aggravation and a phenomenal waste of time, only to wind up with a sunroom that still does not insulate against outside sound or temperature as represented and still leaks like a sieve.  Preliminary estimates I have received to recaulk the roof have been as much as $1,800, with statements that it could run more.

I strongly suggest to anyone considering dealing with Preferred Home Builders and Tamir Pinhas, they seriously take a position of "BUYER BEWARE"!

BEWARE OF Preferred Home Builders !!!

AUTHOR: JKaplan - (United States of America)

I also been dooped by Tamir Pinhas aka Tom. Everything that you stated happen to me also.  Shoddy work and material, always late or never show up to job site, and dishonest.  I would of had a better experience if I hire day workers from Home Depot.
