Ladies and Gents,

Please beward of this internet scammer.  Benton Trait, President and CEO of Prescribed for Life, PforLife.com in Fredricksburg, TX with items sold on Amazon.com is complete fraud, fake, and phony.

Benton is KNOWINGLY falsely advertising a very expensive water treatment system as a very low price then shipping a lesser priced item.  When I purchased the unit and he shipped me the cheaper, leaking, poorly constructed unit, Benton blamed Amazon.com.

After reaching out to my attorneys his story changed that Amazon.com was only responsible for 30 days of an err on their part; however, this has been many months and he is still advertising the unit at the same price I attempted to purchase it for.  He has still not corrected his little oversite.

After contacting my law firm, his tune changed to ask me to pay the difference for the more expensive unit since he would be out additionally money for knowlingly shipping the wrong unity.  I was not willing to eat his mistake and false advertising attempts...aka Bait and Switch techniques.

He asked me to return the unit at my cost to Atlanta, GA which I reluctantly paid the shipping and claimed that he would ONLY refund the price paid the $399 and none of the shipping under his WARRANTY POLICY.  I demanded a full refund including shipping as this was not a warranty issue but a FALSE ADVERTISING ISSUE.

I am out a sink that now has a 1/2 inch hole, plumbing expense, and repair work that still needs to be done from the dripping unit.

It has now been several weeks since he has received the unit back in Atlanta; however, he has yet to reply to any of my emails and demands for a full and complete refund.  Mr. Trait continues to ignore me.

Hopefully you won't fall for the same SCAM that I have.

Partial Refund

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Thursday, April 24, 2014

After persuing legal action and posting this review, Benton Tait with Prescribed for Life (pforlife), issued a partial refund.  This was his reply:

"After filing my refund with Amazon and you are an Amazon customer.  You will have to contact Amazon for them to authorize any further refund.  I turned this over to them and told them to do whatever their policy required.  I am required to do only what their policy requires.  Please contact them for any further action.  They will assist and/or allow whatever their policy affords."

However, Benton was the person I bought the filter from, has the warranty responsibility for the product, sells the product, and operates the company from which my payment went to...and he is the person that required me to pay for the shipping to return the product he false advertised.

And, as such, I am partially satisfied with the partial refund.

This is the email response I received from Mr. Benton Tait as Prescribed for Life or pforlife.com

AUTHOR: Robert - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, April 16, 2014

Received this email from Mr. Tait at Prescribed for Life and pforlife today...

He shipped the wrong item, yet expected me to know exactly what his unit looked like even though there are ZERO markings, items numbers, or product descriptions on the item. So, he feels that I am responsible for damaging the item and costing him money to correct the problem. His options to me initially were to pay extra money to get the unit I actually ordered and paid for as advertised OR send the unit back and receive a partial refund...that he would not be responsible for shipping either to me or to him for a refund.

Note: I only recognized that it was the incorrect unit when the unit he shipped failed and began to leak in my cabinet destroying the wood. When I contacted the company seeking a warranty exchange, he asked for a picture which did not match the information on the invoice he sent me. It was only then that I even learned they shipped the wrong unit...and the initial unit not been JUNK I may have never known that he had falsely advertised the item and then attempted to blame Amazon.com for the error.

After posting these reviews and sending several emails suggesting legal recourse...this is the reply that I received from Benton Tait this morning:

"We lowered the price of the RO unit on Amazon from $699 to $399, because we are revising the the system and that is the old style . It is the correct price, unit and description. The issue was never that we did not want to take responsibility for exchanging the unit that you had for the unit that you expected, since the unit you have was incorrectly advertised as an RO system. The issue was that although you received a different unit, you installed it and ruined the filters, which cost us almost $200 to replace, plus having to replace all components that were compromised in your installation.

You are the one not accepting responsibility for your failure to recognize that you were installing the incorrect unit, before notifying us, so that we could make good on the advertising error. We do have a 35 year old compromised reputation! It's unreasonable, arrogant jerks like you that want to blame us for your part of the responsibility and for you not accepting the costs that you have caused us!

As I said, you will get your way and your refund, but I will NOT refund your return postage, since you damaged the unit, due to you installing a unit that you admit was not the correct unit. Also, I noticed that you have already published a negative report against our company and we will not issue the refund until you remove the report and send us a statement, that after receiving your refund, you will not file or be a part of any negative reporting about our company."

I can see now why they have overall good reviews online. They simply strong arm anyone that wants to get a refund. Frankly, I will let my law firm get the refund, legal expenses, court costs, and leave my reviews on-line for the world to know how Mr. Benton Tait and Prescribed for Life do business and treat they paying customers.
